  1. They might at that. But if you believe anything that comes out of a candidate's mouth during campaign season, then the joke is on you. My dad was lied to in his own home by a candidate for Commission chairman for Cobb county years ago at a gathering my dad put on to promote his campaign. I haven't believed a campaign promise since.
  2. A quote from the FTC site below. I would nicely ask for their name and address next time they call and then hit them with a certified letter that explains you are not that person and they are not to ever contact you at that number again. If they call after that, inform them you are reporting them to the FTC. That should get them out of your hair.
  3. I just love how I got a negative vote for asking a question of him/her. Guess I hit a nerve for somebody. <Sigh> I just have this feeling that none of these people have ever had to try to fight a company or government with deep pockets to right a perceived wrong. I of course have not seen all the evidence for both sides since the county will not go to court, but it seems I'm the only one here that can imagine your frustration with not even being able to get into the courtroom to present your case! This is supposed to be a country of equality under the law, not equ
  4. My only recommendation would be no matter WHAT laptop you get, get a service plan. My son purchased a three year plan when he purchased a ACER laptop as a freshman and ended up getting a new laptop two years later when the motherboard failed paid for by the plan. He'd already had a hard drive put in it once before. After the warranty expired, the CD drive failed. The in-skin replacement was over $100, he ended up buying an external for $49, but has to carry it around now too. Manufacturers are attempting to cram more and more power and features into the laptops which creates HEAT,
  5. So if I buy next to you and use 20' of your property for my driveway, you're not going to be concerned? If you ask the county to investigate for two years and they ignore you, you wouldn't be PO'd with them? Gimmie a break.
  6. From that I could find the last record jackpot was only 1.2 million, so this one had got it beat easily. Yea, it's not 200 million, but the odds are much much better in this game also. Guess I'll throw a few dollars at it. Wondering if they will have a repeat of several months ago where they had $600,000 jackpot, but they hit a popular set of numbers and had *29* jackpot winners. Wouldn't that stink!!
  7. Maybe it's not so much 'Bev' and her negotiation as it was she had three commissioners fighting for her whereas Surepip has had three commissioners fighting against even giving him his day in court. Once again I have to say that all Surepip has been asking for is his day in court and to let the judge decide. To me, the party that drags a case out is the one that doesn't have much of a case to begin with.
  8. Beat's me... I'm confused. Is this split off from another topic?
  9. Everywhere I look it's 10% ethanol. If you find some, post here please. Not only does it reduce the gas mileage, it's running up food prices everywhere.
  10. Dang. That sounds like the sharp curve there where people always seem to swing wide into the other lane.
  11. Hope it's not flash flood time again...
  12. Dang, I'd better run out and put some fertilizer on the grass. Fastest way I know to keep the rains far-far away...
  13. The bank that owns the rest of the lots might pay it's share also, esp if you point out it's hard to sell homes with safety hazards.
  14. I don't think so... need one of the dog treatments to try to kill them quickly once they get on the dog. Sevin dust is pretty mean stuff. I uses it on my roses to kill off Japanese Beetles.
  15. My problem is that WEP is the only protocol all my wireless devices seem to have in common. We have Wii, two laptops and a Nintendo DS that all use the wireless. The router (Netgear) only supports WEP and WPA PSK, but my PC shows WPA as (TKIP and AESCCMP)or WPA2 (TKIP and AESCCMP). Since the alphabet soup doesn't match I'm not sure what will work. So I ended up sticking with WEP. I also disabled the SSID broadcast, I'm hoping that helps by making them guess at the network name.
  16. Wow. Worst our dog ever did to the carpet was he found an ink pen and decided it was a great chew toy in the middle of the hallway. Yes, he made it through to the ink. The spot is still there 7 years later. (We had three kids under 16 at that point, figured the carpet was doomed anyway and we'd wait to replace it). After all, with either you gotta love 'em: Having a dog: or having kids: Good luck!
  17. Just be sure your wireless network is secured and secure the shared folders if you do this. Don't want Joe Blow next door to pickup up all your files to see what you are doing. Perhaps Friendly Geek can discuss the different methods of securing the wireless again, I'm hopelessly out of date now. I use the old WEP encryption and MAC address access lists, but I'm sure there are ways to spoof them by now if someone really, really wants to.
  18. LOL, sounds like he had his face covered with the bandana until he locked all the employees in the vault. Then he couldn't wait to pull it down. Guess he kinda forgot about electronic cameras.
  19. I would have kept it up, but the company that was used when our house was built went out of business and the others I talked to all wanted to do a $1200 "treatment" on a three year old house before they would even do inspections. HIOP - Do you guys have actual damage coverage or just re-treatment?
  20. BTW: If you use direct deposit, they don't have to ask. Most direct deposit agreements include agreement that they may remove any overpayments without notifying you first. My wife got double paid once and they yanked out the second payment a day later. I never knew until the statement came in.
  21. I run into this with my work computer all the time. (We have 5 year old laptops with 30G drives) Part of the problem for us is that they have it set to make a backout folder for every single windows update that is installed. When we upgraded to SP3, it made a HUGE folder on the disk. If you have not had issues with the updates, you can delete the backout information and regain a large amount of space. For instance, this machine I am using now has over 300 meg of backout files on it now and I cleaned it out less than six months ago. Look in the c:/windows folder for any folder with the
  22. <sigh> I hate typing too fast at work.... Fixed. Yea, technically you are right I guess, but you can argue that if you get them to ring it up, then you do owe them, and they have to take it right?
  23. I didn't think that legally you can refuse cash? From a $5bill: "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" You'd have to sue to get them to stop it, but I guess if it really bugged you it might be worth it.
