  1. Not a scare tactic...REALITY! This happened to my OWN CHILD, and yes I am an agent and there was nothing I could do about it. My daughter has a NON life threatening condition that shows up on her MIB report when insurance is applied for, and that condition makes her uninsurable. Unless she outgrows the condition and it is medically documented, or she has surgery to correct it even though she doesn't necessarily need the surgery, she will never be able to obtain life insurance as long as she lives. Her condition is a common one...it's not like it's a rare disease! Like I said in my f
  2. If I don't have a job, I'm going to find a way to pay my power bill, my water bill, etc...so I'd do the same with my life insurance, because to me it's equally important. And if you lose your job and you die with no life insurance, maybe Subby will feel sorry for ya and come play/sing FREEBIRD while they tote you out in yer el cheapo casket!
  3. So, if that kid were to become UNINSURABLE, and grow up to have a family...all they need is that $10,000 that was bought on them as a child? Or better yet the 20 year term policy that was bought on them as a child that's going to run out or have the premium shoot through the roof?
  4. Do you realize that sometimes you can get a whole life policy on your child for about the same price as term? Kids are CHEAP to insure. Why not get some return on the premium that you are paying in, not to mention insuring that they will have a life policy available to them FOR LIFE (as long as premiums are paid)? (Read the story about my daughter in my first post.)
  5. And if for some reason you and the life partner are not together forever, and you develop a condition that makes you uninsurable between now and then, and then lose your job? Not trying to be negative...I hope that you never have it to worry about. I hope you live happily ever after with a wonderful rich man and a job with all the benefits in the world! We all tend to not want to face the possibility of things that are uncomfortable to think about, though, and therefore, we sometimes wind up unprepared.
  6. It's really NOT that expensive to pick up a small term policy outside of your job, and whole life on the kids. Shop around and just check it out.
  7. Okay, so I'm an insurance agent and I can give you 50 bazillion reasons as to why you need life insurance. However, here are a few REAL LIFE examples that I've learned through working in this field, not out of a marketing class, that make me realize that I never want to be without coverage. First of all, people say, "You don't need life insurance on your kid. That's morbid!" Well, here are 2 great examples of why you do. 1. My daughter was diagnosed with kidney reflux as a toddler. It was borderline as to whether she needed surgery or not. We opted NOT to do the surgery becaus
  8. Yep, my grandmother used to make this all the time, only she used breasts, legs, and thighs. We loved it.
  9. Where is the park? Is it past Walmart and all that? Sorry...I just moved out there. Thanks everybody!
  10. Call Marc Riley with Riley's Auto Detailing. He's a commerce member on here. Maybe he could work a deal to just clean up the back of your truck or something.
  11. My son really wants to play football this year. He's 10. Is there anywhere out in the Yorkville area? I hate to drive all the way to Hiram or EP. TIA!
  12. There are a TON of insurance agencies in Carrollton/Villa Rica. You might want to try sending your resume to them. If you tell them you'd be willing to become licensed, that would probably help as well. The licensing process is not that bad...just a week long class and an exam with the State. Most agents will pay for you to take it if they hire you. Good luck!
  13. The liquor store at Nebo & 92 always has boxes sitting out on the front "porch" for people to get.
  14. Yep, clear nail polish. I used to get them every summer when I was a little girl.
  15. If you have State Farm Insurance, they have an app called "pocket agent" that allows you to view your info and file claims and make payments, all from your Iphone. Just go to statefarm.com.
  16. Call Jason at Xtreme Tree Worx (770) 895-4655. I'm pretty sure he has some seasoned wood, and some of it may be hickory.
  17. I saw an article on Yahoo today about making your resume sound human...that is the trend for 2009. They said avoid tired phrases like "team player", etc... Go to Yahoo and check the article out. Sounded like great advice.
  18. Wow. I had 5 1/2 hours sleep Sunday night, and thought I'd be exhausted last night and crash early, but was up again til 1 am! I have never noticed that happening around a full moon before, but then again, it didn't occur to me that it could be the moon til I read this thread. Interesting!
  19. I know it's hard when they struggle. I hope your son has a a great year next year. I'll tell him...thanks! He's so happy! When I called to tell him, he was hollering and jumping up and down! Thanks! Hope all goes well with your daughter!
  20. My son took the CRCT retake on June 11, and we got his results today from Panter Elementary. (He passed, thank GOD!) I know some of you were wondering when they were going to start calling with results, and I just thought I'd let y'all know that I got a call today. Hope everyone else's news is as good as ours. I am soooooooooooooooooooo relieved!!
  21. I live in Yorkville and work in Cartersville. It's 26 miles, and takes me about 30 mins to get to work. There is no traffic at all. Prior to moving and getting this job, I lived in Hiram and worked in Marietta. It was 33 miles and took me an hour and 15 minutes to get to work. It was bumper to bumper traffic the whole way.
  22. Probably. They buy out lots of smaller companies, I think.
  23. If you go over the mountain into Cherokee, you can go to Santaland. It's a Christmas themed amusement park. My kids loved it and it was cheap when we went several years ago.
  24. Copschick showed this to me a few months ago...we laughed and laughed. My favorite part is..."Regler can of baccer you say? No says I..."
