  1. This is a real problem today and more prevalent than people think...When I took care of my sick father, we discovered my step-mom had been over medicating him intentionally. He had to stay in a rehab facility for approximately three weeks and I have never experienced such disregard for human life in my life! There are good facilities and there are REALLY BAD facilities. Unfortunately, the really good ones often don't have room or you must have lots of money. It's a very sad state of affairs. Our nation needs to step up and do the right thing for our elderly folks.
  2. On another note....downtown Hiram is paved! The new city manager told me six weeks and it has been right at that timeline. Good for him!
  3. Posted 04 April 2016 - 07:38 PM I spoke with the new city manager today....Barry Atkison, his first day on the job. He said he met with engineers over the road work this morning and they are looking at a six week timeline to completion. Of course, he would not comment on mistakes that were made, he's just looking forward. He seemed nice and eager to turn things around but let's see if his timeline proves to be accurate. This was my post in another thread from April 4....I believe we are right at the six-week mark now. Maybe I will give Barry Atkison another call. Also, I'm not sure who
  4. 302 South Street In Carrollton.....it's called the "Damn Good Dog" and it is.
  5. I hate the political season and I hate it when I get caught up in the whirlwind of comments and criticism, however, I am passionate about my state, county, and most of all, our school system. in addition, I don't have a problem with speaking the truth. After conversing with Theresa Lyons, I will say that my perception of her relationships with certain candidates was wrong. It is entirely possible to be friends/acquaintances with candidates/politicians and not agree with their politics/ideas. I do care about Theresa Lyons and apologize if my perception was indeed wrong. I truly don't want
  6. Unfortunately, I think I was responsible for the wrong turn in this thread. I noted the connection that I know exists between Howard, Virginia, Glen, Paulette, and Theresa. That, along with knowledge I have from when they first became active in the Paulding County Republican Party, turns me off. I truly don't want to sling mud but these connections make me uncomfortable. Sorry for the wrong turn...
  7. You know what you did....I promise you it's okay for people to agree to disagree. Getting angry is not going to sway anyone's mind. We all have knowledge of the candidates and will vote based on what we believe it right for the school system, county, state, etc. I just pray that everyone truly does their homework before they vote. Have any voters ever actually attended a school board meeting and watched school board member in action? Have any voters every actually attended a commissioner's meeting and watched them in action? ETC. It is vitally important to research and be informed...
  8. I do know her firsthand....actually sat on Paulding County School Board with her....Kathy West is the name. I know what i'm talking about. Mr. Randy Cone, You did pull some immature, bully tactics on Steve Dutton and you know it. Like Newsjunky, I like Theresa Lyons as a person but I don't think she is good for our school board any longer. I'm not going to bash her on this site, however, I will vote for Steve Dutton. The outsourcing of the custodial positions was the worst mistake ever made. Aramark pays their employees very little and expects them to do more with less personnel
  9. Howard Maxwell, Glen Richardson, Virginia Galloway, Paulette Rakestraw, and Theresa Lyons are all good buddies.
  10. I believe this is in the building that used to be Brusters in Hiram. I saw that sign advertising Chicago style hot dogs.
  11. I despise Tonny Beavers....but, if you think he's bad, don't vote for Jerry Worthy!
  12. Technology is killing our students critical thinking skills.....

  14. I have been there as well.....it's such a bittersweet time. It's an honor to be there and care for them, however, heartwrenching to see them suffer. My father died peacefully, two years ago, and I have not regrets. Death is never easy but it's fulfilling to help them to be happy in their final days. God Bless you and prayers for your and your father.
  15. Yes, I typically am a patient person, however, it is clear that this is a boondoggle. Someone needs to come up with some answers somewhere. If I did live on that road I would be highly upset and would demand answers.
  16. I agree but it affects anyone that uses that road. And what about the money, who's paying for this project? The people at the post office tell me that there have been many mistakes made and that they've had to dig it up numerous times. Someone needs to be held accountable for this fiasco.
  17. Who is overseeing and should be held accountable for the debacle and downtown Hiram? The road, new pipes, curbs, etc. have been under construction for well over a year now and it is still is complete mess. I travel through there every day to go to my PO Box and feel as though someone should reimburse me for car realignment among other things. It's completely ridiculous!
  18. A local high school student star athlete recently lost a scholarship within a week of receiving the scholarship following an arrest for drugs...not pot. It happens way more than people think.
  19. Yes, and I would like to add...just because you are a friend or acquaintance of someone is not a reason to vote for them. We must look and investigate what incumbents have or haven't done while in office and get to know the new candidates. It's vitally important.
  20. Kim Cobb has my vote as well....I have worked alongside her and know firsthand her commitment to the students, teachers, and staff within the Paulding County School District. It is vitally important for votes to talk to these candidates and know where they stand. Also, have you ever attended a school board meeting and witnessed the involvement of the sitting school board members. It can be very telling as to who is engaged and there for all of the right reasons. I challenge you to attend meetings and do your homework! Some of the newcomers may be worth looking at, however, I believe Kim C

    Joe Duvall

I LOVE the fact that we have what appears to be a strong candidate to run against our very own Paulette Rakestraw Braddock. Her time is up..... Do your homework! This link tells a little about him. https://www.georgiapol.com/2016/02/23/paulding-countys-hd-19-is-officially-in-play/
