  1. Story here at WaPo Software like this is currently being used by the state systems to track marijuana for taxation purposes, if Microsoft really throws it's hat into this ring it's obvious they'll want to be the sole tracking provider for all growing and sales nationally and I'd fully expect them to use their leverage to get a national decriminalization effort going, whether we want it or not.. like windows 10.
  2. I just had this discussion yesterday, trained officers can tell, generally, when someone is or isn't high, with a good degree of accuracy, as the officers are retrained and tested yearly. at least, in Colorado. But as far as blood tests go, marijuana cannot be measured in the same way as alcohol as the actual THC doesn't remain in the body for very long. The final metabolites, which is what remains in the body for the 30 plus days, can only show if someone has used it in the recent past, but it cannot say how much they used, or how recent that use was. They are working on ways to measure
  3. 3 years back when I went to cedartown to renew I was in there about 3 hours with 200 other people, some of which had been saying this was their 2nd or 3rd day of hanging out there all day. The differnce may have been that it was mid-june and lots of parents were trying to get their kids permits. But boy at the time I wish I had gone to Carrollton, because another poster renewed theirs around the same time as me and said they were in and out at Carrollton in about 20min.
  4. I have an entire stack myself. IDK why tho, just since I was young everyone told me to "save" them, so I have. Well i do know why, they're pretty rare.. but the wife and I discussed this story tonight and are just floored at the seemingly willful ignorance prevalent in society anymore. Oh.. and was going to say, we came to the conclusion, it's best to keep saving them and let someone else inherit them one day and suffer the indignity of being called out as a counterfeiter upon attempting to spend them.
  5. Story Here. via patch.com and the best part.. The money was returned to a guardian of the child. Er. title should have been "Texas school calls police on student for trying to buy lunch with $2 bill" I edited before posting and lost some text there.
  6. Yes. And I expect Poplar Springs to have some sort of widening project going to continue BCP to Macland Rd. within the next decade, and possibly link it to Dallas Hwy/120 @ E. Paulding sometime during the next 20 years on. What I've heard about 92 from Bill Carruth intersection going north to 278 is nothing concrete., there are plans to widen the road between hiram sudie to 278, but it's likely going to be adding a permanent 3rd lane to do better intersections along the entire route, and not actually 4 lane it. But I'm not in the loop on it totally so grain of salt and all that.
  7. Someone pissed someone off either in parking lot or at that intersection, and they thought they'd throw down. My wife stopped by there on the way home.
  8. If you're on a PC still using XP there is a registry script you can run that will force your machine to receive the continuing security only updates for legacy POS (point of sale) machines. MSFT is still under contract with various companies to keep this version of windows secure/updated until 2019. http://www.zdnet.com/article/registry-hack-enables-continued-updates-for-windows-xp/
  9. Depends... Are we talking 2050 or 2070.. either way.. that far in the future I'd expect the only thing left will be cockroaches and Keith Richards, probably.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 20 year timeline accounts for the project being kick started in 1999. And with the expected completion date of Q3/Q4 2019 seems to confirm that estimate.
  11. I'll just stick to handing these out. I mean they're not unhealthy and are also a great source of Calcium.
  12. Remember it's your job to "be responsible" when giving out candy this year, so this parent doesn't have to.
  13. Just putting this out there: "Not only was UCC not a gun free zone by law, there were also people who brought guns onto campus at the time of the massacre. John Parker Jr., a veteran and student at UCC, revealed that he was in a campus building with a concealed handgun when the shooting started. And suggested he knows of others who are armed on campus. ... Parker revealed the practical difficulties of armed civilians trying to stop a mass shooting. By the time he became aware of the shooting, a SWAT team had already responded. He was concerned that police would target him, so he quickl
  14. If the desktop processor is a Pentium4 (or from the timeframe PC's came with Made for WinXP stickers on them) then it's about 99% guaranteed that Windows 8/10 will NOT run on it. It will allow you to go through the entire install using either one but then on first boot it will say "OH SORRY that processor isn't supported" and you'll be left twiddling your thumbs. You'll need something starting with Core2Duo/Centrino/AMD Phenom x2 or newer (better) along with the 4GB minimum of memory as GD stated in order to install and run the newer OS's. You also have until June of 2016 to install Wi
  15. It could be an Oyster Mushroom or in that family http://www.thefungiforager.com/2012/08/13/oyster-mushroom-casserole/ OR it could kill you.. Really no way to know for sure without picking, cutting it to see fiber growth, and trying to make a spore blot.
  16. http://imgur.com/gallery/bN40UkB ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kids today... will never know this enjoyment.. Nor the realization that you were really going to get your ass beat once your parents got home, for screwing up the living room TV, after the fun was over. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. I kinda borked up the start of my post earlier as it was dinner time and I was in a rush. Anywho, I just fixed it, glad some folks thought it was a little bit funny.
  18. These days so much of the content posted on Facebook and other social media tend to be memes, which are generally true things with a good bit of exaggeration and a dose of funny. And there is a bit of fun, and it's a bit of an art, in taking things you notice in everyday life and putting it out there as a meme. One of the sites I love/hate to hang around and do this with is Imgur.com (Imager) which started out as a image hosting service for Reddit communities. And they provide many popular templates to make your own, and will host them for linking to other places. I made one tonight ba
  19. That is a bad area of road for folks going way too fast, not enough reaction time if you come up on someone stopped to turn. But having driven down Nebo twice this afternoon, you can see the accident happened at the bottom of the hill between the guardrails at the swamp, There's paint on the road, and stains from engine oils and coolant. McClung would be the closest side-road to that. From what was all over the road, and the section it happened at, it had to have been a head-on collision...
  20. I was at the light at 92 and 120 this afternoon about 2:28pm when 3 paulding county heading east came up and turned that direction (north) onto 92, one was hauling so fast he didn't make the turn onto 92. As in he slid through the intersection missing the turn, so went down did a U turn on 120. He came back flying (headed west) to catch up and nearly clipped a stopped vehicle at the light, and about caused another huge wreck involving a tractor trailer truck at the intersection. It was zeusn close
  21. My mother was having a yard sale about 8 years ago now and the "lady" that lived there showed up and after pawing through the items started telling the same story, house burned down, living in camper, insurance wouldn't cover blah blah blah, then inquired to everyone present about trying to get some free furniture. It came off as a bit odd as my mother, nor I, had any furniture sitting out nor were we trying to sell any. Thinking on it now, the thing that felt off about her, is that she kept angling for trying to get in my mothers home, or motioning and heading that way. It put us on edge some
  22. We had the same problem with a fairly new Maytag (2009), whom may have been the source manufacturer of the Kenmore. You could always try one of these, I hear they're halfway dependable, but your mileage may vary.
  23. I liked MTV when they used to show music videos.. I liked Discovery Channel, when they used to show science shows.. Heck, I even liked the Weather Channel, when they used to show the actual upcoming weather... I'm guessing, going by the track record above, IFC is going to go the route of showing scripted reality shows now.
  24. BOC will announce our own theme park in a backroom deal struck with Fly By Night Inc. in 3.. 2..
  25. Even if marijuana was completely eradicated from this planet, addictive personalities would still exist, and those with them will always find something else to fulfill what's lacking in their life. Lifelong abuse of any substance can have detrimental effects on a person, especially, in their older years. I've had personal experiences watching alcohol abuse destroy, and kill, my own family members over a 40 year time span, yet the product itself is nearly celebrated in advertising, revered by certain groups of people, and it's benefits are miniscule and only in strict moderation. Yet it's b
