Melbourne is a nice area. Last time I was there the locals complained about the traffic.. which their 5 o'clock was comparable to our area around 2-3pm.. light to none. Just be aware with the AFB and the Cape there along with their airport in the center of town which serves domestic and private flights it can get really noisy down there on certain days.
