1. I liked Bruno Mars before this OK and have never been a fan of the Chili Peppers, but MAAAN, they totally rocked it! In addition to the flawless performance of the lady who sang the Star Spangled Banner. WOW!!!
  2. I'm STUNNED! I don't understand addiction, even though there is one VERY close to me. And in not understanding it, I have no tolerance for it. Too many lives have been snuffed out because of stupidity and it's so sad for everyone that you leave behind. He was a great actor, this is sad!
  3.

Same here, if I don't recognize the number I don't answer. I figure if it's legit, they'll leave a message and I can return the call. I'm amazed at how many calls I get and don't answer that don't leave a message or ever call back. I did call a guy back once because he was REALLY snooty that 'Dorita' wouldn't return his calls. He progressively left nastier and nastier messages and I finally called him back and said, 'Look Dude, not Dorita. Don't know Dorita. Not Doritas phone number. Never call again. And strangely, he never did. I wonder if he ever foun
  4.

I wouldn't cancel my vacation if I had plans, make up days or not.
  5. My brother-in-law works directly for the mayor, he's the 'executive policy writer', or some such silliness. Neither impress me.
  6. My SIL drive a garbage truck and they picked up yesterday, today and will tomorrow also.
  7.

Thank you!! I guess they will just keep on and on until they get the outcome they want.
  8.

Right on!! I've got too much real life happening everyday without wondering 'what if' all the time. You can't plan for a terrorist attack like you can winter weather.
  9. We need to contact the governors office to start salting roads now.
  10.

Indeed!!!!! And why weren't they monitoring the actual weather outside their windows at 10:30? I don't believe for a second that it took 1 1/2 to start getting the buses back to the schools to get kids home. A 1:00 dismissal for elementary kids, are you kidding me? That was about 2 hours too late.
  11. IF school is open tomorrow, I doubt middleschooler or the grandbabies will go. My driveway has about 3 inches of solid ice on it and there are too many subdivisions on Old Cartersville that are very hilly and curvey. I don't need anyone's permission to keep our kids at home if I think their safety is at risk. Snow days, no snow days. Excused or unexcused, I couldn't care less.
  12.

Regardless of his motives, apologizing and taking responsibility will go a long way to salve the anger directed at him. Mayor Reed needs to be next and on a county level, school our superintendent. Trying to explain something away and putting the blame anywhere but on the shoulders of the people responsible, will get these guys NOWHERE.
  13.

YAAAY!! WOOHO!!!!
  14. Once again, it's much better to err on the side of caution than to end up in a mess like this again.
  15. They knew. They ignored it. Not OK. How are they going to say that they had no idea it was coming. From the governor to the Atlanta mayor to school superintendents. They knew. And if they say they didn't, they sure as heck should have or they aren't doing their jobs. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2014/01/29/22499567-absolute-cop-out-heated-forecasters-blow-back-at-ga-officials-weather-blame-game?lite
  16.

Not sure, but middleschooler and my granddaughters have never complained of being cold on the bus. I'd say it's a good question.
  17. Hubby came home last night from near Piedmont Park and it took him an hour and ten minutes, it usually takes 45-55 minutes. This morning he left at 5:00 to be there at 7:00 and he made it in an hour and eight minutes. He said there were some ice spots closer to home, but all and all it wasn't too bad. He traveled on I-20 and Thornton rd last night and 120 to 75S this morning. And as of yet, they've had no storm related power outages, fingers crossed.

    why?

It has to do with the site being hacked that PUBBY explained a few weeks ago. None of my stuff is working either. GAAAAAAD!!
  19. I have never complained once when school was closed. Never. Not once. So, I sure as heck can complain when they drop the ball like they did on Tuesday and endangered kids, bus drivers, teachers and other drivers on the roads. Anyone could see that there was going to be issue at 10:30 and yet they waited until 12:00 and 1:00 to start dismissing people??? When school was closed because of the cold, they couldn't keep classrooms warm and it was the right decision. It's a shame that the people in charge decided to gamble with the very things we say we treasure most, our kids, because of a few grum
  20.

Holy moley, those are the cutest dogs ever!!!!!!
  21.

\ I was 11 too and I remember that school let us out early. I rode home on the bus to an empty apt. with no power. I walked to the rental office, got a spare key and let myself in. I called my aunts and grandfather and found my Mom with my grandfather. My mom didn't know that we had been dismissed and PANICKED when she realized that I was at home alone. I used a manual can opener to make myself a tuna sandwich and waited for my mom and sister to come home. She was stunned that I had actually thought to do all of things on my own. It was a crazy week.
