Our daughter and SIL just got new fancy phones, but they still aren't iPhones. They are some kind of Samsung Galaxy or some such thing. They're cool, but they were still expensive and I still don't want one. As long as I can make a call, I'm good.

I'm right there with you, I don't get it. I don't even have an iPhone and Hubby still has a flip phone. We use them for calls and some texting. Middleschooler doesn't even have a phone at all, he's either with someone who has one or if he needs me from school, he uses that phone. Why on earth would anyone buy a kid a $400.00 phone? Not me, that's for sure.

For those of you who don't want or like the idea of an HE washing machine, I have another tip. About 4 years ago we bought a top of the line Maytag HE washer and matching dryer. As a couple of you said, you can't choose your water level, the lid locks and you and your clothes are at the mercy of a computer to decide how your clothes are washed. After doing clothes in them for about a month, our whites were dingy and Hubbys work shirts had ring around the collar. I had NEVER had that problem before. His jeans didn't even come clean, nor did my SIL's clothes because they both work out side and o

Yes, it's true and VERY frustrating. My new laptop has Windows 8 and I've heard how different and weird it is, but I've had no problems with it at all. Of course that could be because the only thing I ever do is check email, read the news and Pcom.

I love Nina. They started out calling me Gam, but it turned into Gami, then Nanni and SIL has them call me Old Grandma for funnsies. Yea, really funny!! -

They'd have to install themselves for the price. For a large door, the same size as the one we have now is $270.00 before shipping.

I hope so, because it's a role that many real grandparents don't seem to fill. And we have always been the family who embraces everyone who needs something or someone to include them. So many kids that my kids have gone to school with call us mom and dad. Even the grown ones who have kids of their own. It's not bad being that 'go to' person though, I figure if we made a difference in one persons life, we've done a good job. -
I liked Blondie because I'm the one that named her that, but the kids never loved it. So the day we decided to keep her, they bandied around names and when they landed on Dixie, they all agreed and loved it. I may be the only thing they've all ever agreed on!!

I usually don't think of myself as a grandmother even though I've been one for 10 years, but more and more little kids who aren't my grandkids are calling me Nanni. Our next door neighbors little girl calls Hubby and me Poppi and Nanni and her real grandmother hates it. My late sisters 2 year old granddaughter stayed with us for 4 days last week and at one point I was was saying to her, 'Go see what Greg (Hubby) has'. Hubby looked at me like I had two heads and said, 'I think it would be fine if she called me Poppi'. Now my youngest daughters boyfriend has two little kids, 1 and 2 1/2, and to

Hubby says I'm a loose cannon sometimes, does that count?

Is tannereck the same thing? I'm confused.........which really isn't anything new!!

She is no longer Blondie, her new name is Dixie. Of course she hasn't answered to anything yet, so hopefully this will stick.

Not it's not because I bought some at the last gun show we went to. We shot it at a friends mountain retreat and it was waaaaay cool.

Isn't that the stuff that blows up when you shoot it?

You're so sweet!!

No, it doesn't and she and Joey have started late night play sessions. They run, pounce on each other, bite each others feet, they sit on each others heads and they are so funny to watch. I'll try to get them on video and post it, it really is a hoot! Thank you!! We really do love her and this all from a woman who SWORE she'd NEVER, EVER, EVER have a dog in her house. Hubby and I are convinced that when you say things like that, God is taking notes and laughing!!
