1.

What exactly is a 'punt towards the community'? And it's my understanding that if a state of emergency is declared, which has been done by the governor and the President, that days don't have to be made up.
 2.

Look at the Goodwill. They had a beautiful, very clean, never looked like it had been sat on for $49.00 last week. This was the one in Hiram. The one on Whitlock has some good stuff sometimes too because they get drop offs from the nicer houses in the area. Good luck!!
 3. Hubby had one guy try to pay him for putting his service back on the house where a tree tore it down. His neighbor who also had her service ripped off the house by the same tree is the manager of a restaurant close to the Fox on Peachtree and she said to call ahead to make sure that she was there so she could buy him and his family dinner some time. Another lady from down the street, who hadn't lost power, brought him hot chocolate and granola bars. Pretty cool!!
 4.

Roses bushes are great. I usually get hydrangeas which I love.
 5.

Me neither. The strongest thing I've had in 3 years is sweet tea. With all the drama we sometimes have in our lives, I tell Hubby all the time that I'm an alcoholic in my mind.
 6. Super cool video, thank you for posting. I remember Jim Axel well from channel 5.
 7.

Most of them are pretty cute for sure. I think it has to do with their boots and the confident way they carry themselves because you can't be a weenie and do this job. I've posted this before, but he and his coworkers are part of what they call the 'trifecta'. The police and fireman think linemen are insane for working with power, The fireman and linemen think the police are crazy to do their jobs, and linemen and police think fireman are crazy for running into burning buildings. At fire calls or accidents, they always have the conversation of, 'maaa
 8.

Yes, yes he is. And it's not just me, he models on the side, which he doesn't like to share very often because it makes him feel weird. Shoot, if someone wanted to pay me to take my picture or to be in a commercial, I'd tell everybody!

On behalf of linemen everywhere, I say thank you!
 9.

Thank you for the blessing, I think everyone needs them. And you're right, we take power for granted until we don't have it. These people risk their lives everyday without ice and snow, but as Hubby says, 'they knew the job was dangerous when they took it', and luckily Georgia Power trains their linemen well, always with the idea of safety first. So if your power goes out and you see workers trying to restore it, if you have the capability, offer them a cup of coffee or some soup. Hubby still tells the story of a young girl bringing him a hot mug of
 10.

Good advice and I've lived with a lineman for 30 years. Also, if you see power lines down, STAY AWAY FROM THEM. ALWAYS ASSUME that they are energized and ground gradient will kill you dead. STAY AWAY, STAY, AWAY, STAY AWAY.
 11. Hubby just called to tell me in no uncertain terms to STAY PUT. He said that more than 8,000 are without power already and they are trying to get as many people back on as soon as possible before it gets worse and worse. They've restored 2,000, so they're on the ball. Most of the outages are from people hitting poles and causing damage, not from ice forming on the lines yet. PLEASE PEOPLE, STAY HOME, whatever you think you need to do, it's not worth your life or someone elses. It makes me so antsy knowing that they're out there in those huge trucks doing their jobs, my head conjures
 12.

Yep, it's here too. This waiting and wondering how bad it will be is nerve wracking.
 13.

And you'll remember that unsweet tea with the crushed ice, I love things like that!! I L-O-V-E Twinkies, that awful non-food golden little cake. And because I love them SOOO much, I WILL NOT buy them because I know that I could eat them all in a day or two. He got me a box for Christmas, it's something I would never have thought of and I just ate the last one 2 days ago. YUMMY!
 14.

I like the new arm idea, thanks! I am a pretty practical gal!!
 15.

HAHAHAHAHA! Da#m that Susan!!!
 16.

Yea, Hubby likes her too and what is she thinking going and getting married?????
 17.

A fund raiser sounds good, I'm going to need a new broom handle and lots of sticky tape!! HAHAHA!!!
 18. Like for a diningroom table or a pantry? I think I have a Rubbermaid double decker that you put spices on, but it wouldn't be good on the counter.
 19. My idea is very unlike most females I know. Don't ever send me flowers, you can bring them or not get me any at all, but DO NOT send them. Anyone can use a credit card to order an unseen floral arrangement. Go to the store and pick them out if you want me to have flowers. I don't like dim restaurants, so that's a no go. Wine? Nope. I'm a weirdo, to me 'romantic' is when I know that at some point during any given time, Hubby thinks about me. Like if he brings me a cold Coke when he comes home from work. At some point, he had to think to himself, 'Dawney would like a coke, I'll stop and
 20. I can tell you from personal experience over the last 29 years that Georgia Power doesn't cry wolf, so if they are calling in crews from around the south and having employees pack for a week and come in, somethings going to hit the fan. Something like a lot of ice. Also, it's funny because I've always been on my own in situations like this because Hubby is always at work, usually for days at a time. I've been charging things, getting my bag with batteries, flashlights, matches, car phone chargers, etc., ready and accessible. I have all the necessities in order, we've covered all the windo
 21.

Yep, I just saw that too. The weird thing is that even after the ice melts, if power goes out to lots and lots of people, it could be a while before all the power is restored. We were without power in '73 for 10 days and I know the ice didn't last nearly that long. Circle the wagons Pa, it's a comin'.
 22.

You kill me, I swear!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I REALLY wish my little emoticons worked!!!!
