Oh Lord!!! I remember those days all too well, good luck and I'll be praying for all involved!!!!

Can you imagine shooting every person who wronged you in some way? There would be no people left!
-
I know!! Hubby stays at work on Sunday night and here I was, by myself, tears and snot everywhere!!!

Dentist...anyone take walk ins or something?
dawneykids replied to MamaJess's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't know of any walk in dentist anywhere, but call your dentist first thing this morning and hopefully they can get you in today. I broke a tooth in February, called my dentist and was able to go right then and it was 3:30 in the afternoon. Good luck! -
Oh yea, saw that one too!

You hit the nail on the head there. As a mother, it would be hard enough to lose a child for a cause I understood and supported, but to lose one for a cause that seems to be in someones elses best interest as besides our own, I simply can't imagine.

Now I can't seem to stop crying because I am thinking about all the families that have gotten visits just like that for real. And to the men who have to deliver that terrible news, God love 'em. I think I may have to turn this off for now.

I missed the show at 9:00 because I was painting and just saw who died and I'm beside myself. I was so sure when I didn't see Frank in the beginning and then we saw everyone in the tent in Iraq, that it was Chase, but then I realized we were watching the event that caused the death and I could barely breath. I'm so sad! I know it's just TV, but DAMN!

No problem! I probably should have just added a general reply instead of adding onto yours. I think you're on the right track. Good luck!!!

What/who is your source?

You didn't talk about paddling, I was just adding that because I agree with what you were saying about the age thing.
-
I also wonder with all the 'pro paddling' talk, how many of those same people would react if their child came home and had been paddled by the principal? I can spank MY OWN child to town and back and I wouldn't hesitate to do so if he needed it, but no one including a principal better ever lay a hand on him. And do we even know if the behavior warrants this child to be paddled? If he is talking too much, are you going to paddle him? If he loses focus, are you going to paddle him? When is it OK for an administrator to take up a board and whack a kid with it?
-
Agreed. That is apparently a point of dispute in this topic, age doesn't matter. But it does matter.

But don't you think it's much more important to help the Libyan people by bombing rebels, than helping those that are in need right here at home? (SARCASM) -
I'm not sure why this continues to be lost in translation.

I Mixed Bleach and Ammonia To Clean My Kitchen...
dawneykids replied to shopthebookworm's topic in Business NEWS
Yes, I learned that at around 8 years old when my mother did that and almost killed all of us. The firemen who came told us that and I have never forgotten!!!!!! -
Were you 5 years old?
-
Thats exactly what I got from it too.
-
Agreed, I'd have a problem with that too. Just tell her that the writing obviously isn't working and maybe you could take a different approach, punish him, fine, but the sentences aren't working and tell her why. Surely she had had issues like this before and if she's new teacher, she may need guidance. If not, I question whether or not she needs to be teaching 5 year olds.

Great post. Maybe rewarding for good behavior as opposed to punishing for bad would work better with your child.

The news--can't believe they are allowing Jamie Hood
dawneykids replied to tbird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was hoping he got that yesterday! Why does he deserve any more consideration than the officer he gunned down in cold blood? 'Don't hurt me, WAAAAHHHHHH!' What a coward. And another thing........if those people were 'hostages', so was I. They were partying and doing drugs. -
Yep, thats what I said too.
-
I don't think you're being over protective, you're just questioning the punishment that is being given. I have no problem with it, but is this the most effective way she can think of to help him follow the rules? If he is continuing to have to write and write, I'm thinking no. You know your child best and admitting that he isn't the best behave child is a great start because so many parents have the 'not my child' attitude. If you talk to his teacher maybe ya'll can come up with something better to encourage him to do better. I mean he's 5 years old and writing sentences may not do the

I'm relieved too because I was lacing up my boxing gloves to come to your aid!!!!

I have cut out a lot of what I used to do for her and with her. Honestly, her entire family has, as have MANY of her long time friends. It's sad really and I know that, but she was killing me. And luckily, Hubby is totally supportive of my decision and backs me up ALWAYS! He told her not too long ago, 'You've gone too far and shes had enough, leave her alone'. Have I said that I love this man!!?? Her oldest son, who I adore, had the chance to move back here with his company from North Carolina and he turned it down because he said he couldn't deal with her. We told him we were c
