We lost a lot of our channels, including most of the kids channels, during that time and finally Viacom decided that it was losing too money hand over fist each day DirecTV didn't air their shows. They finally came to an agreement not to extort the huge increases they were insisting upon from DTV. While we missed our shows, I have to give it to DTV for standing their ground and not just renewing the over inflated contract with Viacom and passing along the increase to their customers. And don't think for a moment that everyone isn't making plenty of money on whatever agreement that they cam

No, I don't think that it can. The first and maybe second season were great because they weren't yet corrupted by whacko voters and even whackier judges. The concept was good and it was enjoyable, but it jumped the shark a long time ago.

My name is Dawn, I spell it D A W N. I saw a girl on TV last night, her name was Dawn. She spelled it D A H J N. WTF? -

Love this answer! When my girls were in kindergarten and first grade, they taught something called 'inventive spelling'. The kids could spell a word anyway they wanted to as long as they 'were trying' their best. Hubby and I pitched more than one fit about it and taught our girls how to spell like they were supposed to. Fortunately, someone with a brain finally decided that letting a kid invent their own spelling for common words was ridiculous. Why would you ever think that was a good idea???? -
Not only that, but the OP comes into contact with a fraction of the people that a sneezing, coughing cashier does. As I said before, I'm sorry that she was sick, but she and the store have a responsibility to their patrons not to spread sickness like Typhoid Mary. I've also worked retail and have been sent home because of illness. I don't believe that all managers couldn't care less about their employees.
-
I'm totally with you on this one. I had a dizzy episode yesterday that lasted longer than a minute and Hubby wanted to take me to the hospital. I think I don't understand the 'I need help but won't ask for it mindset'.

What could possibly make a Grandmother, do the unthinkable?

This is horrible and sad. But why on earth would you let your mentally unstable mother have any kind of alone time with your children? That is one thing that MIL, me and Hubby stridently disagreed on. She was always snippy because we would never leave 5th grader with her, but mostly because we wouldn't let him ride with her in the car anywhere. We held firm, she was angry. I never cared, she was so hopped up on drugs and her behavior so erratic, I didn't care who she was mad at, he wasn't going anywhere with her, EVER. My sister in law is the same way with her daughter who is the same age as 5 -
Out of the 229 channels we have, we probably watch 25 with any kind of regularity. Local stations, USA, TBS, A&E, History, Animal Planet and the kids channels are about it for us.

I had jury duty a while ago and during the many questions they ask you to weed folks, the attorney asked my what kind of books I liked to read. I was suddenly like a deer in the headlights and actually blurted out 'bodice rippers'. It got a huge laugh and believe it or not, they chose me for the jury!! Who knew?!
-
That's another thing..........I read fluff, 'bodice rippers' as Hubby calls them. They're lame I know, but I don't have to think, just read and get away for a while.

I've had this happen too and it's gross and soooo unsanitary. I'm sorry that you are sick and you need a paycheck, but don't get your germs on me and the things I'm buying.

I didn't realize that the time was 5:15, that is a terrible hour of the day for a book club meeting. I was thinking that a morning time might be good for Moms whose kids are in school. But 5:15, I don't think so.

Could you PM the info please?

Exactly. I attempted to read Shades of Gray and the writing was soooo poor, the other stuff couldn't remotely hold my interest. And with all the ravings about it, there is NO WAY I could have sat through 5 minutes of talk about it. And we all know this book has been read to death in book clubs across the world. Once again, I want to read what I want to read, not someone elses choice.

I agree with you 100%. It's hard to imagine that the health dept charges people with no money $140.00 for any kind of exam. If you had that to pay out, you could go to a regular dr and pay cash.

Love Justified, but I almost had to stop watching when they seemed to 'jump the shark' with the ignorant and ultra violent 'Bennett' clan. It just became too absurd. While it's still out there, it seems to have gotten back on track and I don't miss an episode.

This too.

We really are the same person!! When I want to read a book, I read a book. The last thing I want is to discuss it with other people or debate it or even listen to other opinions about it. With so many people living in my house, real life dictates that I debate and listen to other opinions all too often and I want to enjoy reading a book. Honestly, the idea of a book club is just NOT APPEALING to me at all. Also, I don't want to read a book that someone else chooses. IF I have time to read, I want to read what I want to read, not what someone wants me to read.

Go to the health dept. The cost of of an exam is less than a fraction of the cost of not going and there being a problem.

The thought of fondant completely grosses me out. The idea that someone, whoever they may be and where ever their have have been (ACK), has been playing with, mashing, squishing, rolling, molding, mixing and manipulating something I'm supposed to eat is just GROSS.

Unless the hours have changed and they may have, the hours at KK were odd. I wanted to take classes but they were only open from 5-8 on certain days of the week and I could never make it work. Nope still odd. http://www.kakekompani.com/

Our Wellstar dr is James Ellsbree on Mars Hill rd in Acworth. He's has a 'family practice' and even 5th grader has been going there since he was 2. Not sure about a cash or payment plan, but it would be worth a phone call to ask. 678-354-0455.

Autism...what I need to know, and who can tell me?
dawneykids replied to bvrat5199's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't want to step on any toes here, but your dr sounds like an ALARMIST. I wouldn't walk, but RUN away from this person as fast as I could. 21 months and 5 words is 3 more words than 5th grader was saying at almost 3. He simply didn't talk. But when he did, whoa Nelly, he hasn't stopped. And to date, he has ALWAYS been at the very top of his class in vocabulary, reading, spelling, writing, etc. IMO, being 21 months old and not talking in absolutely NO INDICATOR of autism or anything else. Boys are usually slower than girls, so no matter what your niece, neighbor, uncle or cousin are doi
