Former Paulding Co elementary teacher arrested

I have no words for this. He was my children's teacher for many years. First in a special needs program then as the art teacher for New Ga Elem. This just makes me sick. So glad he is no longer in our schools. Referring to New GA Elem as a Villa Rica School is quite misleading. It is a Paulding Co School this man taught at.

 

A former Villa Rica school teacher was indicted last week on charges of possession of child pornography.

 

Joseph Monroe Wilson, 43, who taught at New Georgia Elementary School, a school in the Paulding County Schools district, was arrested last Thursday. A $150,000 bond was set for him during a hearing yesterday.

I understand the investigation stemmed from websites & purchases he made- not from allegations at the school but why in the world were parents not notified of this??? Many of the students Mr. Wilson dealt with on a daily basis in 2003-2005 were special needs students- the ones without a voice! He was also involved in children's bible studies & tutoring outside of school. He was actively teaching in our district when he was arrested- how is this just now coming to light?

 

A wolf in sheep's clothing among us. And gives other male teachers with a true love for teaching & mentoring their students a terrible reputaion to contend with.

The school is in Villa Rica, I stated that could be misleading because not many people know that the small area there on Mulberry Rock is Villa Rica, not Dallas. Mr. Wilson used to live off Marshall Fuller in Paulding Co before moving to Spartangburg, SC. I understand that is where he is serving his bond conditions at this time- home restriction with GPS monitoring (ankle bracelet probably)

He lived in my subdivision and taught both of my kids in art as well when they were younger. I drove past his house the morning the GBI, PC and other vehicles were there searching his home back in the Spring. I'm finally glad it has come out about what he did and why they were there that morning. There are several kids in our subdivision that talked to him all of the time and I can actually say I would have never suspected him of this..but it does make me sick knowing that this happened and how he was a teacher and around so many young children.

 

He is not living in the house, he recently came back and moved out. It said in the article that he was in South Carolina.

Yes, this sort of thing does happen with many worms/trojan viri out there. If that is the case with this guy, I hope it is proven and he is let free. If it is not true and the SOB is one who frequents and collects kiddie porn, I hope he gets all that is coming to him in prison.

I'm sure the worms/trojans can do it, but it seems to be more of a trendy defense tactic because the investigator can't say for sure that the contraband file came from the virus. My guess is that in this guy's case, they will have log files from the ISP that show he downloaded the files they found so his defense probably won't work.

I know that can happen. It happened to someone I know and it was not hard for the computer forensic teams to figure it out. I hope that is the case with your friend.

the prisons are full of "innocent" people. Who admits they are guilty, especially when it comes to something as gross as this? I know there are friends of his (mostly educators... how scary is that?!?!?) talking to him everyday and going around telling people it was all a mistake and he is innocent. Thing is, this indictment came down from the FBI.... not some backwoods police department. The FBI is pretty good about having a rock solid case before even accusing a person. Id be willing to bet this investigation took some time, and I'm sure more evidence than has been reveled was found. Get your heads out of the sand , people! People.... even people as sweet and innocent as Mr. Wilson seemed to be.... have skeletons in the closet.... or life size pictures of naked boys....

It keeps the state and government from depriving you of your rights until you've been found guilty of the crimes against you. So I can't accuse you of being a child molester, load up your computer with nasty images with a little hacker program I have called NetDevil and then have the Police beat the snot out of "this evil child molestor" and lock you away until some distant time when your lawyer can prove your innocence and a court of law can find the charges against you not guilty. You are probably right about the FBI having evidence against the guy, but this country still has Due Process and a reasonable doubt always needs to be kept in such sensationalized cases until a Jury can sort out the evidence...

Let's be VERY CLEAR - Joe has NOT been accused of ANY child molestation - PERIOD!! former member, fishnthec and Thoughts, thank you for at least having enough belief in our justice system to not convict him before he has even gone to trial. Don't get me wrong, anyone found with legitimate child porn that they purchased or obtained themselves should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, no matter who it is. But if you are naive enough to believe that there is no way someone who has been accused of a crime, by the FBI or otherwise, can actually be innocent, then that makes me very sad and I hope you never sit on a jury. And please keep in mind that not everything that you hear in the media is 100% true or portrayed in the most honest manner - SHOCKER, I know!! Just please keep in mind that unless you are a government official working on this case, you really don't have all the facts (and admittedly neither do I). So try not to make judgments or spread information that has no real basis - just opinion...

The reputation of the guy will be damned forever and I doubt he'll ever get a teaching job again as The Mob have judged him guilty and school systems will always find a way to keep him away, people will not want to "take the chance" around their children, even if the charges were totally dropped. Not to mention the financial destruction of one's life having to defend yourself against such charge and the deep pockets of the DA's office. We're all not like OJ Simpson who had the financial means of defending himself and still got destroyed by The Mob. No faith in our justice system, the Mob found him guilty. How can anybody have any faith in our justice system if we decide from the outside a person is guilty or innocent rather than relying on the system in place. OJ was aquitted of all charges by a Jury of his peers as per the laws of this country, but that's not good enough is it? Being found not guilty does not mean he did not do the crime.

If you have an open judicial system you will never stop people from forming an opinion based on the evidnce presented to justify charging someone with a crime. It goes either way depending on the evidence, some people see enough for their version of guilt and some they think there is not enough.
