Naima didn't bring it last night, and every performance counts. I hope for you she makes it through.

am I the only one who feels it is exceedingly rude of employers

I agree that a call-back or at least an email saying "Thanks, but..." is the right thing to do. People get excited about good interviews, and it's at least unkind and at most unprofessional to fail to notify them if they were not selected. But about the other stuff...I have a great job that I love doing, and I have never met my boss. We have a great employer/employee relationship, and he knows he can count on me to get the job done. We talk many times throughout the week. But as I said, we've never met. And he hired me based on a phone interview. I am so pleased that he did, and I have -
I don't agree that people who are in need should be denied medical care. You will not find any post I've made anywhere here that even suggests that. What I disagree with is the way this is being approached, and that it is being approached with no concern for costs. Reform of health care that just addresses covering everyone but that doesn't address the enormous cost is akin to placing a band aid on a severed artery. And unfortunately, everyone who has a job and pays for health care ends up walking around carrying buckets of blood.

"Spreading the wealth" is raising premiums and lowering benefits of those who can "afford it" (riiiight) so that everyone who doesn't pay anything and never intends to can have the same benefits as those who can and do.

So, ONLY that "top 2%" is "private," and the rest of us are "public"? That was what my "really" referred to. Oh, and out of that "other 98%,"? 50% DON'T PAY TAXES. So what's your point? I wasn't speaking to what you apparently thought I meant.

Our out-of-pocket went to $6,000/family this year. Kind of makes you wonder what you buy insurance for. With that kind of OOP, we only have insurance for a)yearly physicals, and b ) catastrophic illnesses. Everything in between will be our responsibility. Add that to lower pay and higher premiums--yeah. I get it. Completely. Oh, and we're with Humana POS. It's not like some fly-by-night insurance.

Seriously?

It wasn't Josh, it was Garth! LOVE his voice. He wows me, being just a kid.
-
Lemme guess...Scotty's gonna sing Josh Turner!! (Just kidding. Sorta.) We'll know shortly.
-
Nah, it was a bit odd. Sorta puppet-like. But...his voice was really nice to listen to, and this is a singing competition... But I agree "performance" is part of the deal. He just seems a little goofy, you know? So for him, it really didn't seem that odd, really...and he seemed comfortable on stage. He's just not like everyone else. Which could be good or bad. Time will tell. He wasn't my favorite yet tonight. So far, I've liked Casey and Pia best.

Pia was AMAZING! You're right sugail--the level of talent this year is just amazing.
-
Paul McDonald did a great job. The judges liked it, too. Love his raspy voice!
-
Yup. Casey Abrams sang Joe Cocker, and the judges DROOLED.
-
Lauren Alaina performed "Any Man of Mine." She did it well, but the judges thought she should have kicked it up a bit. She was as cute as a baby bunny.

I think it's rather unfair to characterize it as impacting "only one group." Our HC premiums AND our co-pays went up this year, and my husband WILLINGLY took a large pay cut in order to support his company and remain employed. It's something many folks are dealing with during a rough economic time. The question ought not be "why teachers and public employees," but rather, "why not them, too?"

The Topic about music got me thinking.

Pulp Fiction A Hard Day's Night The Godfather -
It was such an odd episode! It was also SAD. What I took from it was that House really loves Cuddy, but...he's still a drug addict, and when he faces hard things, he chooses his drugs rather than dealing. I thought it was very sad.

The Lost Thought I felt a cleaving in my mind-- As if my brain had split-- I tried to match it--seam by seam-- But could not make them fit. The thought behind I strove to join Unto the thought before-- But sequence ravelled out of reach Like balls--upon a floor. ~~Emily Dickinson
