  1. I think some cops heads need to roll, too.
  2. Exaaaaactly! If it were that CLEAR that this one car did the damage, I would have called the cops, waited for them to arrive, filed a report, AND collected for the damages on the insurance of the person who damaged my car. If you just retaliate and drive away, not only are you "obviously a bitter person," you also lose any opportunity to have compensation for your damages. And in the process, you've damaged someone else's car, criminally and intentionally I might add, when you drove away. And *I'm* the bitter person?
  3. I'm a REALLY HAPPY person who doesn't kick in the door panels of strangers' cars because I suspect they damaged my vanity investment!
  4. Let me refer you here: Are we all good now? I thought so.
  5. I was abused, sexually. I reported it, to a school counselor. The counselor didn't report it. She was "political friends" with my abuser. Yeah, YOU take this personally? Not, I assure you, as personally as I do. My abuser went on to abuse a number of other girls. It COULD AND SHOULD have stopped with me. So yeah...it IS up to the person with knowledge of abuse inflicted upon children to do everything they can to stop it. Paterno gets no pass from me. He had a responsibility, and he dropped the ball. And that he would be forbidden to play EVER again seems completely sensible, a
  6. Oh!! Right. It wasn't his problem if little boys were being raped and abused. He did what was "expected." Silly me. He should be completely absolved. Like I should if I knew my neighbors had chained their adopted child in the basement, and I'd reported it, and 9 years later (after they'd adopted 5 more kids), it was discovered that they'd chained them all in the basement and fed them only bread and water. I knew they'd adopted the other 5, and I NEVER saw those kids, but hey? I'd reported the first one, and nothing was ever done. So it all must be OK, right? No, I might not be
  7. I would have believed it for a year. Maybe 18 months. But I would NOT have believed it for 9 YEARS, while witnessing the continued access of the "alleged" perpetrator to young boys. Nope. I don't believe he never wondered, and I don't find it in any way excusable that he didn't follow up, in 9 YEARS. Doubt and denial aren't the same. You know that, right?
  8. I read it, too. So, what you're saying is, if you had credible knowledge that a man was &^&^%&*ing a 10 year-old in the shower of the athletic building you worked in and were the primary coach of, as long as you "reported" it, you wouldn't have any objection, in the intervening 9 years, that nothing had been done about this rape and would find it perfectly OK to know that this man had continued, unfettered access to young boys and would never say another word, even though you KNEW he'd raped a young boy? WOW.
  9. Soo...what do the knife and fork mean? Because last year we had heaping scoops of snow, so I'm doubting the persimmon seed meteorologists!
  10. I posted this for discussion just before I went to bed last night, and hadn't been back to comment. I was in classes all day. I posted the question for discussion because I wondered what others thought. I know what I think. There's PLENTY of blame to go around, and Paterno gets no friendly pass from ME. If he's known for 9 years that this man even *might* have been pervy with little boys sent to him for help, and he said and did nothing beyond that initial filing, I hope there are nasty demons who will haunt his dreams until his last days here on Earth. And in all fairness, I
  11. It's currently 63 degrees at my house. I just put a bunch of plants I'd already brought in back out this afternoon so they could catch some of the rain. I wish we'd had more...rain, NOT snow.
  12. Congratulations!! He's beyond adorable! LOVE his v-shaped hairline. And that blonde stubble? SO KISSABLE!!
  13. And heaven forbid, NEVER park next to "a 25th Anniversary 7-Up edition Mustang. Emerald Green, white convertible top, white leather interior in perfect condition" or some jerk might think you dinged his precious car and kick in your door panel. NEWSFLASH--I paid a lot for my car, too. And unless you see me ding your car, you are the worse offender if you damage *my* car because you *think* the door of mine hit yours. My car was dinged (and not just with doors) three times in two weeks October of this year, in a paid parking garage where I work. I didn't automatically ASSUME it was th
  14. Ditto! But let me just say, please, that it was pretty clear also in every post I made in response to you in this thread that I WASN'T talking simply about the local election. I think words such as "statewide" and "everyone" were pretty clear indicators that I meant something much broader. I enjoy debating with you, too! To future debates, I raise a Sunday glass!
  15. Yep. I was talking about deriding voters about voter confusion statewide. I'm sorry...I somehow thought we were engaged in the same conversation. I'm pretty certain we were. I guess it's only the same conversation up to and until I say something you can't argue with, then it's time to say, "OH LOOK! I was talking about THIS, not THAT." Have a good night. I'm happy I voted, and happy generally with how the votes are turning out, even if the voter turnout is disappointing, as usual. I dunno. I'm still trying to decipher the results. Group hug? We can disagree a
  16. Oh, no!! I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to judge everyone else in the whole state based on the particulars of your local Mayoral race! (PS: I DID know where to vote today, and I ALSO voted against a long-standing local Mayor who needed to go(different city). I obviously wasn't talking about ME, or YOU. Clearly, you were.)
  17. Well, in my case, I encountered a lot of MISINFORMATION when I tried to discover what I needed to know about this off-season election. And I heard an awful lot of reports today about people who were confused by the particulars. What I was trying to say is that you might rethink judging everyone else's experience with voting today compared to your own. I think we should applaud that people wanted to vote, even those whose vote was different than what we cast, provided we could cast opposing votes. A Democracy doesn't exist only for those who know they vote in building A at City B between th
  18. Ooooh...MY BAD. YOU understood it. Everyone else should have, too. Got it. (Not really meaning to bust your chops, but really, when it comes to voting matters, I think it's preferable to assist people rather than to ridicule them. But that's just me. **shrug**)
  19. I dunno. I know she reportedly drives a lot of my same route in the morning (I live near 278/Florence Rd. and head out toward I20 every morning). But I just wanted to say...I LOVE your avatar!!
  20. WOW. That was a bit harsh. The confusion was statewide from what I've heard. People were generally confused about where to go, because for many, the places they usually go to vote weren't the places they needed to go to vote TODAY. And people who voted at "county" places assumed they were allowed to vote at their regular polling places, when, if they were COUNTY but outside the city limits of one of the TOWNS voting on Sunday sales, they couldn't vote. They weren't necessarily just stupid or not paying attention. It wasn't clear in many places who could vote, or where.
  21. This last week, I have been the unfortunate witness to way too many bad wrecks on my I20 daily commute. This morning I left a bit later than I usually do, and it was just INSANE. People were just plain stupid out there. I hate it. I hate when people are so reckless and disregard the safety of everyone else on the road. And I agree with you, tbird--way too often, I end up at the same red light right next to someone whose reckless driving could have taken a bunch of folks out had they not been more aware and respectful than the idiot speeding, weaving, and endangering the rest of us.
  22. So let me guess...those were her third grade pics, right?
