Yeah, well, McQueary is also saying "I did the right thing."

Everything, as always, is open to interpretation. However, I don't see any wavering of what the graduate assistant (GA) reported to anyone. I see a wavering of what those he reported it to told the Grand Jury. And let's remember: Curley has been indicted on perjury charges, because apparently, the Grand Jury didn't buy his self-serving load of cr@p either. There is no excuse for anyone's lack of action, and most especially, McQueary's lack of action when he witnessed the offense. It is something he will have to live with for the rest of his life. But it seems to me that his ac

No kidding - the Jerry Sandusky Autobiography -

I know. Right? -
Oh, right. That was back when you thought "the police" meant someone outside the umbrella of the university administration. This has only been presented OUTSIDE of the university administration ONE TIME, when the admins took it to the DA, who decided not to bring charges against Sandusky and conveniently VANISHED from the face of the Earth a few years later. Since then, it's all been internal. To say that "the police did a lousy job" means that the university did a lousy job. The UPD, and all of the officers there within, are employees of the university, and their boss is the universit

No. That's YOUR take on it. Not what's been said. And, aren't you the one who again and again has said that the police and DA did everything they could? Pretty sure that's the case. It really doesn't cost anything extra to PAY attention.

You said: "...to read this thread you would think nothing was EVER done about any of the reports..." Something wasn't done about perhaps one of the most important reports...you know...the one where a child was witnessed being raped by a man whose boss was Paterno. When the rape was reported to Paterno, he waited a whole day before taking it to the admins, and when he did take it to the admins, he watered down the severity of the attack that was reported to him. For WHATEVER reason, the admins decided the best course of action was to ban Sandusky's access to the locker rooms with little

NEWSFLASH: Nothing was EVER done about the reported SODOMY RAPE of the 2002 victim by either the police OR the DA. In fact, it was apparently never reported outside of Paterno and the university admins. Seriously, have you gone on and on in this thread and NEVER read the Grand Jury presentment? REALLY?

No kidding - the Jerry Sandusky Autobiography -
TabbyCat replied to eym_sirius's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Oh yes. I knew that. It just seemed a bit...difficult to point out here, given the climate and all about this. It was truly an unfortunate title choice for an autobiography. In retrospect, and all. -
Yep. McQueary was 28, and not a little guy. You've hit the nail on the head with your comment about the victims. That's what makes this so unconscionable. The boy in 1998 was Victim 6. That means out of the 8 victims who have been identified (and there an additional 2 in the Grand Jury presentment who are not "numbered" as victims, bringing the total to 10), this kid was #3. There were AT LEAST 5 more after him. My guess would be many more, but time will tell. It's unimaginable how this could have continued for so many years when there were clear signs that there was inappropriate beh

I'll type this v e r y s l o w l y for you, in hopes that you might read it slowly, and actually understand. When did I ever contend that the "witness" didn't report? Have I, throughout this thread, EVER said that? (s l o w l y a g a i n) NO. You asked a question: "since when are witnesses prosecuted?" I answered your question. I did not name any names, I did not point any fingers, and I did not contend anything you said. I answered your question with the legal precedent from U.S. Code. Are we on the same page now?

Misprision of felony, U.S Code, Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 1, § 4: "Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the U.S., conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the U.S. 18 USC Misprision of felony, is the like concealment of felony, without giving any degree of maintenance to the felon for if any aid be given him, the party becomes an accessory after the fact. You really need to calm down. Do you remember me saying there was enough blame to go around? Do you remember me EVER saying it was all Paterno's fault? Do you understand that, even though the 2002 allegation involved not just "fondling" but RAPE, and even though Paterno and the others in the university administration were aware of the 1998 case, NO ONE contacted outside authorities,NOT Paterno, NOT Curly, NOT Schultz, NO ONE, allowing/enabling Sandusky to continue to abuse children for another 6+ years? DO YOU GET that NO ONE even looked into the welfare of this young boy or even

Perhaps you should read the link I provided.

No, you clearly DON'T understand. But that's OK.

He was already forbidden from bringing any Second Mile kids onto the Penn State campus, and in addition, Second Mile itself separated him from programs that would bring him in direct contact with children when the investigation began in 2008. Still, word of the allegations didn't get disseminated to other youth organizations he was involved with. And they certainly should have. There's probably no way to know how many young boys were his victims.

You do understand that it was the UNIVERSITY Police Department that conducted both the 1998 and the 2002 investigations, right? Meaning...it was "internal" to the university. You do understand that almost certainly, as his superior in the workplace, Paterno would have been FULLY AWARE of the 1998 incident? You do understand that would mean that this didn't hit him blind-sided when another allegation was made in 2002--an allegation, I might add, that was NEVER reported outside of the university? Time will tell. I'm just glad it FINALLY got out of the halls of the university, a PROP

With all due respect, I think it is you who is selecting only what they want from this story. Less than a year after the initial report was made, Paterno tells Sandusky that he will never be his replacement. This from the Grand Jury presentment: "Victim 4 remembers Sandusky being emotionally upset after a meeting with Joe Paterno in which Paterno told Sandusky he would not be the next head coach at Penn State and which preceded Sadnusky's retirement. Sandusky told Victim 4 not to tell anyone about the meeting. That meeting occurred in May, 1999." This followed an investigation of Sandu

Sorry. Didn't mean for that to happen. Fixed it for ya. And we agree. Not only did he not do what he should have done THEN, he also failed to do it in all the years he's been there since. There is no excuse, except for his own ambition. And what does he have to show for it now? I doubt he will stay in his current position, even if they can't fire him because of the "whistleblower"law, and who else would hire him?

As a teaching assistant in the athletic department, why WOULDN'T he be in the locker room? Do you think TAs in the athletic department are barred from the showers?
