  1. Apologies where warranted. I was too quick to respond. And I'm happy to say I didn't degrade my own dignity with my word choice, even if it wasn't entirely kind. It also wasn't nasty, personal, and socially unacceptable.
  2. I saw the report about it tonight on ABC World News. It made me See here, and be sure to watch the video.
  3. We're having grilled chicken breasts marinated in ginger-sesame wasabi marinade, Parmesan cheese risotto, and iceberg lettuce wedges with bacon and tomato sprinkles and dressing of choice (I'm choosing Asian ginger, and husband will probably use Ranch).
  4. I find the USB a good reason. I watched the unveiling today. There's a lot of neat stuff in there, but I still don't see it replacing my laptop. I use an iPad daily at work, and in fact, spent the first two days of this week delivering training I developed for the iPad from an iPad delivered through an Apple TV. The cool factor was off the chart, but the limitations were also evident.
  5. I always looked forward to Sunday morning breakfasts--my Mom went all-out on Sundays. But hands-down my favorite was her homemade biscuits and gravy. We had family sit-down dinners every night. My Mom was a great cook, and I agree--I learned my love of cooking from eating what she cooked all the years I was growing up. I love to cook, and I love sharing what I cook. It makes me happy when folks enjoy what I cook and serve.
  6. Give them a try! But you might want to wait until Thursday when they open.
  7. I found this discussion of Aldi/Aldi brands, and I must say, I agree with just about everything posted here. The "Fit & Active" line of foods and snacks are AWESOME, and the Winking Owl brand of wine is very tasty, and under $2.50 a bottle. Most of their "store brands" are made by the brand-name makers and labeled for their use. Italian foods are packaged under the "Mamma Cozzi" label. Mexican foods are labeled under "Casa Mamita." The "Friendly Farms" dairy products are great, and much less than you'd pay anywhere else. I've enjoyed every spiral-sliced ham I've ever bought there.
  8. I love your little voting avatar. That is all.
  9. At Aldi, you pay a quarter to "unlock" the cart. When you return the cart and relock it, you get your quarter back. I think it's a great idea. People are given incentive to take the cart back to the cart holder instead of leaving it out in the parking lot where it gets in the way and someone has to go and collect it.
  10. You do know you don't actually "pay" for the cart, right?
  11. Without a doubt it's all from storage units. As I said, the woman running the thing admits that up front. They want to clear all of this storage stuff out before they open their "store." More power to them! But don't call it an "estate sale." This is a crap we've had in storage for years sale. And it's mostly over-priced. JMO, and all that.
  12. This isn't an "estate sale." It's an "I had all this cr@p in storage for 5 years and need to get rid of it" sale. If you want some over-priced knick-knacks or some vintage clothes, this is the place for you. If you want a true estate sale, keep looking. This isn't it. This is the pre-cursor to someone opening up an over-priced thrift store. The woman running it tells everyone as much as soon as they enter the building. Seriously.
  13. I LOVE Aldi, and I'm soooo glad one is moving in so close!
  14. Congrats!! Such a sweetie!
  15. Not ironic at all if one didn't see the pic you posted in January. But even if I had, what would you have wanted me to say?
  16. I wrote a personal thank you email to the gentlemaan, and this is what he wrote back: "Hello, ya'll are very welcome and I wish the best for your son and family. Something told me it was the best thing to do. Hope all is well and take care!" So sweet.
  17. You missed it again. I don't think they are "cute" without tops. Never said I did. And I didn't open your links--didn't need to. I wasn't talking about "other sites," I was talking about THIS site. And I don't see anything wrong with the pics that I find somewhat suggestive for your family photo album. None at all. Where I find it problematic is the many Internet pervs who would find these photos enticing. And they are out there--we all know that. What I don't get is why someone would deliberately put their INNOCENT child in a position to be viewed in that light. That's all. T
  18. I think leggings and tutus on sweet little girls are FREAKING ADORABLE! So I fail to see your point. Most of the pics in this gallery? Not cute. (Though a few towards the end of the gallery are BEAUTIFUL!) But many are creepy. It's not about the trend. The trend is cute. It's about pics of kids parents would submit to be posted on the Internet, where anyone with an Internet connection can look. It's about respecting your kids. It's about not purposefully objectifying young kids. The leggings are great, and so are the tutus. I have no problem with them whatsoever. Sorry
  19. Oh well, my bad then, Pubby. I'm sure there was nothing objectionable in this gallery. Every two year-old should have pics in lacy lingerie holding a heart that says "Kiss Me." Or this gallery either. Topless infants in Cowboy tutus with football leggings are all the rage in toddlerwear these days! ETA: I didn't search for either of these. They both are prominently "featured" on the sidebar. I'm not a perv, and people should be able to make their own decisions about their own kids. I just found some of this in very poor taste, and asked if others did, too. And in order to make that ju
  20. Some of you may recall that a few days ago, I posted looking for a washer and dryer for my son and DIL, as they have moved into a new apartment, and the washer they had got destroyed in storage. Desperate to find them something, I went to craigslist. I found an add for what appeared to be a very nice W&D set for $125 in Douglasville. I called the guy, and asked him about them. I asked why he was getting rid of them. He said he's moved into a place that had a set, and he didn't need two sets. I told him we were VERY interested, and that my DIL would be calling him about them. She c
  21. I think for a number of them, the parents ARE the photographers. Which makes it all the more creepy.
  22. You may have seen them before. They are all "working" as Internet models. This site is for real. I'm 99.98% sure it is. It's also just a really BAD IDEA.
