  1. I think very seriously it is NOT...it's genuine, and it's really, really sad the lengths some parent will go to. Some of the "model's" profiles are very sweet, and innocent. And some are just...I have no words. None.
  2. I came across this site from a link a friend shared from another site. There was much angst about this site. Curious, I went and looked. I was appalled. No really--appalled. Does anyone else think this stuff crosses some lines that shouldn't be crossed? IMO, this makes "Toddlers and Tiaras" look tame. On this site, parents pimp out their kids for modeling jobs for "boutiques." In exchange, they get to see their little darlings in Internet-published "modeling" photos, and they get free boutique items that their kids model. The parents are in charge of what photos are submitted of their
  3. Did anyone else see this article a couple of months back? Identical Twin Boys, One Transgender, Become Brother and Sister Read it through to the end. It's 2 pages. I found the statistics at the end of the article interesting. Why? Read it, and then maybe we can discuss it. I believe that transgendered is how some folks are born. (And as Blondiga1 said so well above, transgender doesn't = gay.) Not that I don't also believe that people are born gay. I do. But they are not the same. One has to do with gender identity, and the other has to do with sexual orientation.
  4. This course is being offered to KIDS. HS kids.
  5. ADDING....If my kiddo really wanted to take this class, I'd be OK with it. But we sure as heck would talk about it every day they were attending the class. I don't think it's PC to indoctrinate anyone's kid from any point on the political spectrum. Kids need to know what the world is all about, and they need to be encouraged to draw their own conclusions, even if they are different than their parents'. I feel the same way about religion--you teach your kids what you believe and what others believe, but you allow them the space to draw their own conclusions. You can't teach political or rel
  6. I think it's a great idea. However, as with any instruction, what is actually taught depends on the delivery of the instructor, and though they claim that it "...does not take a stance on the Occupy movement. Rather, the movement provides a creative opportunity for students to discuss protests throughout history, as well as current events, definitions, and various processes that can be used to voice opinions in the community," in reality, the delivery will most likely be colored by the political beliefs of the person delivering it. If it can be taught as an introduction to grass-roots
  7. I never said I thought it was anything new or that only Target does it. I just thought it was an interesting discussion if HOW Target does it. Along with the twist about the teen.
  8. The article explains how Target identifies each customer by a tracking number and analyzes their purchases to draw conclusions, such as someone being pregnant. Sure, it's possible she signed up for coupons, but Target admits that it uses purchase info to draw conclusions.
  9. Brick House. Great. Dance. Song. Period.
  10. I agree with you that it's completely RUDE when parents just smile at little Johnny or Suzie as they disrupt an entire establishment. We agree! When mine were little, we took them outside for a come-to-Jesus meeting if they misbehaved in public. It wasn't on the list of their choices. Period. But the way I see it is...if you advertise as a family place, you can't control what family you get, and restaurants need customers to stay in business. And unfortunately for those of us who prefer non-kid dinners, some places are kid-friendly and are to be avoided. That's just the way it is. I'm
  11. I don't go to a place that proudly wears the label of "family friendly" and not expect to hear someone's kid having a meltdown. I appreciate the warning label. I don't think one can tout "family friendliness" and not expect that the climate might be unfriendly for those of us who wish not to deal with screaming toddlers during our dinner experience. I think the Moms of screaming toddlers deserve a night out, too, and it shouldn't have to involve a babysitter, and most especially if the kid(s) have been at the babysitter's all day. Families should have the opportunity to eat out, and wo
  12. I've been "vaping" for almost 2 years now. some might want to make a case that it's somehow "better" to keep smoking because of the "dangers" of vaping. To those who would say that? You're just wrong. Sorry.
  13. I have no sweet tooth. I will skip dessert more often than I will ever eat it. I will eat a couple of bites, then I am done. I don't want any more. So usually, I almost never order any dessert when we eat out. I like the idea, but I wouldn't want to pay a bunch to have just a little. I think it would be cool if restaurants offered a small sweet at the end of a meal, much like they offer an appetizer before the meal. Just a small thing like a couple of brownie bites or something, and wrap it all into the cost of the meal. I know some folks would like that whole huge slice of black f
  14. There's 1/4" of sleet covering everything on my back patio and still sleeting heavily...and it's 47 degrees here...
  15. Grilled shrimp tacos rolled in warm corn tortillas, filled with Mexican Coleslaw, Chipotle Mayonnaise and pickled jalapeños on top. Fluffy Mexican rice and charro beans.
  16. SMH. Oh, and it's "asses." "Ass's" means that which belongs to an ass. And I'll stop there lest I get shot.
  17. Jane Carrey shouldn't have been put through in the first place, IMO. They should have been honest and not given her hope. I think it was only her "connection" that got her through to HW in the first place. I'm finding it hard to focus on any of the contestants this season. No one has given me a "Carrie Underwood" moment.
  18. You can't make this stuff up. Err, most folks can't make this stuff up. Apparently, some folks can and do make this stuff up.
  19. x=1/2 x - 4 + x + 4 = 1 2x = 1 Or something like that. I've forgotten everything I ever knew about algebra.
  20. I don't need ALL of the details. I don't "need" anything in regards to this missing person. I never said I did. It's none of my business, UNLESS the family seeks to make it mine and everyone else's business. And when they do? Then those questions that people have are legit to ask. They, of course, don't have to answer anything they wish to keep private. Anyway, as I said before, I hope she's safe, and that no foul play was involved. As long as things look so sketchy, all anyone can do is speculate.
  21. If someone is making massive appeals about a "missing person" and trying to get local law enforcement, the GBI, and local and national media involved, people have every right to ask about FACTS, and to question things that seem odd. It's not like anyone went looking for this young woman's story. And it's not like there aren't plenty of VERIFIED missing people, young children most especially, to focus concerns on. People have a desire to know that there's a legitimate concern before they invest emotional energy and personal efforts into the plight of a stranger. And this case? It has s
  22. From the FB "missing" page just now: "UPDATE: Good news!! She's not home, but Megan was reported as being headed to Ohio to see a former DECA contact on Saturday...she contacted her friend by text indicating she was coming to visit....they are following this lead. She's not home, but this is great news." Yeah.
