  1. Milk is not absolutely necessary. It can wait.
  2. Wish we had that new reservoir so it could be filled! Wonder how much it will fill our existing water supply, and how much will be allowed to run down to AL and FL.
  3. I'm not too sold on it being necessary, either. My 8 yr. old had 2 baby eye teeth extracted (extreme overcrowding), and still there's not enough room for the permanent ones to come in. Two orthodontists have looked at the situation and did not recommend such a thing. Later, it's expected that she'll have braces. Guess those spacers weren't recommended because they won't do the trick.
  4. My husband and I would really like to keep him, due to our close proximity to his new office, however, we have had a couple of bad experiences with him. I wish I could recommend him, but no way can I.
  5. Look on your monthly mortgage statement. Usually your monthly pmt. has a breakdown, showing the principal and the taxes that go into your monthly total. If it has a notation for prop. tax escrow, then you should be all taken care of.
  6. Blockbuster does plan to put in a ton of kiosks, themselves.
  7. If they were treating you like that, then my guess is that they've heard the same thing I did - it's all over the news now that the SE is covered with H1N1 - they say it's the ONLY flu going around - if it's not a cold or allergies - it's this virus in this part of the country. The NE was overrun with it in the Spring. Now, FL, GA, and SC are the hardest hit.
  8. Mine would definitely be punished for that. If I allowed my child to turn her back on things she's tired of hearing, then one day, she might just turn her back on me or someone else! I'm tired of hearing about everyone complain about the neighborhood, but if I were taught to just turn my back on it, we wouldn't have gotten anything fixed. I'm going to stay tired of it, for sure, but I'm not going to turn my back on it.
  9. Wow, that's cool. Never knew it went on that many years. Wonder why it was moved away from there? From what I see on the website, it looks like it's still part of Acworth - put on by Acworth Allatoona Charities, Inc. Don't know why it's in Cartersville (Bartow County), now.
  10. I'm sure it isn't the building people would have been laughing at. As you said above, "all anyone ever sees about us is stupid, crooked people doing stupid, crooked things." Maybe that's what gets Paulding County laughed at. We should not have built that building at this time, period.
  11. My mom bought a bunch of artificial plants - they, too, have been toys for her cats.
  12. Wonder if you DID actually get the flu and not know it. My doctor and my daughter's pediatrician both mentioned to me that pneumonia is usually a result of the flu - it is not a sickness in and of itself. At any rate, if you HAVEN'T had the flu, lucky you. People never think anything will happen to them until it does. My husband was that way about the flu until he had pneumonia from the flu last year.
  13. To those who are "on the fence" about getting the vaccine: Think about the economy. People are upset about work hours being cut, and jobs being lost. Do not put your paycheck and everyone else's at risk by allowing yourself to get sick with this virus. My daughter's elem. school sent home a note to all the parents saying that if the kids get it, they should expect to stay home for a week. There's a week lost right there, from work. How about if you get it, as well? How much pay can you afford to lose if you don't have 2 weeks of sick days lined up? Others who work around you may have t
  14. So, with #1 above, you're just waiting on everyone else to get vaccinated - just not YOU? The "wait and see" approach doesn't work with this situation.
  15. Reminds me a bit about the Josef Fritzl case, where he kept his daughter in an apt. complex basement. She had 7 kids with him. Does make you wonder how much is going on out there that noone knows about.
  16. I sure am. Just read that 1/2 the population is expected to get the swine flu over the Fall and Winter. Sometimes I think my daughter is a prime target for every illness. She's already missed a day of school this week!
  17. You have to pay for rights to a song like that.
  18. I love your idea, but I would not limit it to the 60's. I would cover each decade.
  19. Yep, I thought so, too. Guess it's just a super-imposed image, after all.
  20. Our neighborhood is having this problem a lot, too. We're having to institute new pool rules. I read that chlorine alone sometimes cannot mitigate the germs from fecal matter. I think a public pool is a public restroom. Also, just think of the sweaty folks that get done with yardwork, etc. and think, "that cool water sounds really good about now." I wonder how many people jump in without a shower. Another note - it costs a lot to the pool owner / HOA that has to get it cleaned after each incident. We have to close the pool for 24 hrs., as well.
  21. For a couple of months, now, I've tried to get on the Paulding tax database to look at home values / taxes, but it keeps showing that the site is "disabled." Wonder why? Awhile back, one poster mentioned that it might be because they are updating it. After so long, I wonder if it's something more than that. Given how upset everyone is about their taxes going up this year and the large fluctuation in values, I wonder if they don't want anyone on there to see which homes have gone up and down in value. For instance, a lot of people are mad in our subdivision because houses went down $20,000
  22. I say, if the kid can walk, he should be wearing shoes. For the sake of the child, why would the parents let him go running around without them? Public places, parking lots, etc. are filthy. I can't get over how many parents let their kids go around without shoes - I've even seen it in the middle of winter. Looks a bit uncivilized. People are too lazy to slip on some quick shoes. Plenty don't even require tying!
