  1. Gas here, too. Nothing as fancy as surepip's but it's so much better to cook on. I learned to cook on gas, when we moved to Georgia we had electric, I didn't like it at all but I adapted. When we built the house I wanted gas back, I got my wish. The stoves today don't have pilot lights, they have electronic ignition but I can still simmer and have great results with my heat diffuser on the gas stove. So loveapet, I can't help with the glass cook top. They look easy to clean and are very attractive. I agree with the others, be careful with heavy stuff and I love my insulated bottom
  2. I can't do the poll, there are several that have choices I can't answer the way you have them listed.
  3. 113 and 61 merge together just North of the Cartersville Airport. It's the same road through Cartersville. But you still have to go down Cartersville unless you take the road DAP suggested.
  4. It's not dead until they kill the bill....It was supposed to be dead in May when Carroll and Spaulding Counties voted it down. Here it is again.

    ROAD

Seriously, that's the biggest problem?? I tend to disagree, but it wouldn't be the first time JJ.
  6. Until someone got greedy.
  7. Ahemmm, the building we were in for almost 10 years in Butler Industrial had a nice loading dock. The buildings George Putnam owns have nice loading docks, there are several building sites available to build buildings to any specs they want but no one's biting. George's 20,000 sf buildings have been split into several smaller suites because there aren't any takers. How about we utilize what we have instead of thinking new is better?? I know Roy is really hurting for lack of tenants, he also builds office/industrial buildings. The space is there, the infrastructure is not. How about
  8. You fail to acknowledge the Cadillac Parkway industrial area, the Butler Industrial Park, The MGI Industrial Park, the Industrial Park on Industrial Way (where the Shaw plant sits empty), Roy Spark's industrial park on the Paulding/Cobb line, the *planned Airport Industrial Park..............there are several areas that have building sites available, buildings available yet many of them sit empty. There are no takers in Paulding County and before you say you had some lined up, I don't believe there was no other area besides Palasides they were willing to put their plants. It may have been th
  9. Surepip, they are not anti industrial park, they just have different ideas as to where they should go. They don't have to put industrial parks where I want them. There are several buildings in industrial areas in Paulding, In fact Roy Sparks has several on the Paulding side of the cobb/Paulding line............he can't get them rented or sold. They are less than 20 minutes from I 20. You make it seem like there are none, the Shaw building is still sitting empty last I checked.
  10. If as you say those nay-sayers had as much clout as you claim, we wouldn't have 15 umpteen thousands of undeveloped lots sitting in subdivisions. When you put the cart before the horse, you aren't going to go too far. It appears the "progressives" in Paulding don't seem to or perhaps don't want to understand that. Hey why don't you add a conservatory to your house, I hear it just might improve your property value in the next 50 or so years. After all it's just money, get someone elses and spend it instead, that way it won't cost you a dime, you can always promise them it "might" make them
  11. Carrollton (proper) is about the same distance off I 20 as Paulding. Makes you wonder why those folks aren't even considering Paulding as a location for a corporate or industrial base. Cedartown and Rockmart are even further away and they have a few rather large industrial businesses. Some are even on two lane roads!! I don't believe it's because of access businesses aren't coming to Paulding. JMHO
  12. Get out of my head LR!! People get their dirty little hands on $ that is specified for a particular program and it suddenly is underfunded. The lottery has been grossly mismanaged. Casinos bring people, that in turn creates a plethora of jobs associated with tourism. Restaurants, show venues, water enthusiasts, and hotel taxes. Not to mention the actual tax revenues from the Casino itself. But they might need a toll road to get there. (sorry I couldn't resist)
  13. LPPT, that's not true, we were told it was a dead issue when Carroll County wouldn't get on board, now 6 months later someone posts that not only has it been resuscitated, there are now TWO alternate routes. I wonder how long it would have been before we heard about this if a poster hadn't brought it to our attention. So, I hear it's again, dead in the water....................is it really???
  14. We'll be there!! Pack 301 is manning the Jail................come lock up your parents, your teachers, your scout leaders, anyone you want!! They have to bail themselves out!!
  15. We grew up playing board games and card games, winters are long, dark and cold. LOL Yahtzee is still one of my favorites, you can have as many players as you want. We played a lot of Canasta, Tripoly, Spades, Hearts, Rook and cannot forget my all time favorite card game Pinochle. My mom's family would stay up til all hours playing Pinochle, I couldn't wait til I was old enough to learn. They mostly played partners.
  16. My mom stayed in an abusive relationship with my biological father for 17 years. She had 6 kids and really didn't see a way out. Finally, she escaped and we moved to Chicago, she has been married to my Dad for 43 years, I just hate she had to go through all she did in the beginning, it was horrible for her and us kids. She just turned 80 in October.
  17. Aheemmmm, it was reported it was a dead issue when Carroll County rejected it. No follow up, no more info then all the sudden it rears it's ugly head again with a whole different route and an alternate route. Nope, I didn't catch any of the follow up. How did I miss that?? Whoops, you forgot about any follow up or did you just not get the time to let your readers know about it, it was just an oversight, I'm sure. Stay classy, Pubby and Surepip.
  18. Ordinarily I might agree wholeheartedly, however; money is tight, people are getting furloughed and laid off. Did we really have the money to do this study?? Isn't there something better it might have been spent on?? Things are not the same was "as they've always been", things have changed a lot in the last 20 years. Some good, some bad. We need to finish the reservoir and the sewer system before we start thinking about adding more businesses. I'm stopping there, because I truly respect you and several others here. I'm not wanting to argue with you or anyone else but dang..........
  19. I'm going to stop about this Tahoe because I think the world of you and believe you know what you are talking about. I'm just uncomfortable with how this was handled, I think we really need to find a newsworthy outlet for this county. Someone that will post or print things that actually impact the residents. Not all of us have the opportunity to attend meetings, sometimes families and other obligations have priority, especially when you have young children and/or aging parents. We should be able to expect someone to report these things to the community before it's too late. Who knows, ther
  20. Halo, that's what they told us about the 4 lane. Easy access to ATL airport and downtown Atlanta, limited access, straight shot, little to no retail. I sat on the jury with several of those eminent domain condemnation cases, the state wasn't fair with many of them. One poor family's land was cut down the middle leaving 3 acres on one side, and 1 acre on the other. The 1 acre was only 20 ft wide, the state wouldn't pay them for it. WTH are you going to do with an acre of land 20 ft wide?? The state took 14 acres not counting that little strip.
  21. I thought one of the purposes of this board was to report local news. If this was not important enough to share with the people that visit this site, perhaps it's not doing the job I thought it intended to do. Sorry Halo, money has already been spent on this, a lot of money, money we didn't have. $90,000.00 would pay off my house and help my neighbor pay off his.
  22. Oh yea, a dead issue, sure. Lies, lies, lies and there are a couple right here that are falling for them, AGAIN!!!
  23. That's my girl!! Get 'em. I'm out of pluses from this thread, if I could I've give you +100.
  24. Southern Scarlett and Lisa C, I'm all out of +s for the day. So here ya go +10 for each of those posts. I want to see the impact studies, I want to see what businesses are interested in those toll exits, I want to see how we will deal with sewage and getting water to all those businesses that will jump on the chance to come to Paulding County. I've heard this too many times before, I want to know there is a justified reason for doing this other than "it won't cost the taxpayer a dime and it will bring business". I'm sick of hearing empty, expensive promises.
