  1. I, for one, am very glad. I think this is the way we should fund MOST of our government. You all want transparency - you got it with ESPLOST. You know exactly what you are funding. And, you know exactly how you are funding it. !
  2. I would think that you couldn't force them. But, they should realize that this makes them seem like someone that doesn't want to be seen as enthusiastic either. I realize they could have unchangeable plans, etc. But, it makes them seem unhelpful. Sometimes it just happens.
  3. Folks - I'll say it again - SPLOST is for a specific purpose. It's not that they "blew through" a certain amount of money. The money under a SPLOST has a specific legal purpose. And, quite frankly, I prefer this kind of funding. We know exactly what it's going for. There are no ifs ands or buts. Straight up. And, don't get me started on why isn't it for something else. It is what it is. Vote for what it is or don't. But, PLEASE don't start whining.
  4. A friend is trying to get an appointment for their child's test. They were told that there weren't any appointments available until mid-June. You probably want an appointment.
  5. Depending upon what it's for - Chik Fil A, QT, and RaceTrac have always been willing to donate to my Boy Scout troop. They use them for backpacking trips. I know walmart has ketchup in the little tubs - but they are expensive in my opinion.
  6. Is Audrey Alridge the young lady that ran away earlier this year? Her brother is at Paulding County High School?
  7. I often make quiches when I have not quite enough of various leftovers. The family's favorite is a ham and cheese quiche. There was an amazing seafood quiche at the Hungry Mother's Restaurant in VA Beach. I think the place is out of business now, but they had the best quiche. I use a refrigerated crust. My grandmother told me once that if I wasn't going to make biscuits and pie crust everyday - I'd never be truly good at it and it was ok if I used bought. ! Never looked back.
  8. Mom and another friend had their hips done at Emory. Great experience. Love her doc. Another friend had hers done at Piedmont. !
  9. My boy scout troop is out helping Hiram First Baptist with their concession stand. Selling some of the best boiled peanuts around!!
  10. I would definitely be interested. This is oldest's last summer before college and I intend to do alot of things on the bucket list.
  11. Quick look at the claims tells me this - this is a very, very narrowly written patent. One of the independant claims is somewhat broad. But, in general- this really only applies to a very specific set up. In the world of patents - this is almost junk. I'm really not sure why Amazon spent the money on this unless it's to pad their patent portfolio or if the employee pushed the issue and possibly funded it. Yes, they have a patent. Yes - it seems a little ridiculous on the surface. But, now, they have to spend the money to enforce it. And, that's something that they aren't going t
  12. Now you're in my world. I've been working on the prosecution of patents for over 20 years now. I'll look this one up and get back with you on that one. Just for the record - I rejected a patent application based upon a Star Trek movie and a Dick Tracie comic book. !
  13. Yeah - this was coming out of the computer lab. Unfortunately, he just can't remember who was around him. The teacher was giving him paperwork and directions and his attention was focused on that. Just thought I'd put it out there and see if I had any bites.
  14. That's you figure isn't theirs, please message me. Someone took my son's phone from his backpack while he spoke with the teacher. It's iCloud locked and now has a bad esn. So it's basically useless without some major work. I would really rather have it back. We are watching the find my iphone everyday waiting for it to come back Online. Reward offered.
  15. Your pool shape isn't quite as conducive - BUT, my parents spent the couple grand on an automatic pool cover - it locks from within the house. You can drive a BMW on the cover and it won't give. That meant that 1. no fence - because it locks in the house, it meets the requirements for security. 2. no crap gets into the pool. When no on is in it - they close it up - they vacuum it, maybe, twice a year. 3. no evaporation - they end up only putting water in the pool when they've had a big group in it (splashing the water out). Otherwise, no problems. 4. very little chemical additi
  16. I've never figured out why the taxi business as seen as such a bad thing. This is similar to what the state is trying to do to Uber. What's up with it? Just let people run their business. Especially because of the internet, social media, etc., any bad publicity due to any of the concerns that have been raised will quickly put the company out of business. We don't need local government being like this. Really - I can't call a cab if I need one in this county???
  17. Sometimes we hope that folks will help out for the reward of knowing they've helped a kid have an adventure of a lifetime. Philmont changes lives. Youth come back with a completely different perspective about themselves, the world, the environment, and their personal abilities. Amazing what a few phone calls to the right people might just be able to do, huh?
  18. Unfortunately, Surepip's options aren't available to us any more. Because of BRAC, many of our military bases between here and there have been closed or greatly reduced in space. Three years ago - we basically camped from KOA to KOA. It works - it's just 5 more days of time off for our adults and 2 1/2 days of driving before they ever start hiking for the adults. Flying is actually a very poor option for us. Because the backpacking stoves have had fuel in them - they and the fuel bottles have to be shipped separately directly to Philmont. Which is another cost. And, you have to fly
  19. Rail is $750. Bus is $356. Driving is actually the cheapest way. We did that the last time they took this trip. Worked out at about $250 per person.
  20. Thank you - we need to get 3 adults and 12 youth to Raton, NM as cheaply as possible. !
  21. Call the credit card company. At a minimum they can put a hold on the payment for failure to provide a working product. They probably also offer some extended warranty services that they can help "bully" some better answers for you. Call them and work out a plan.
  22. My parents have done this for years. There would be days when no hamburger in the freezer - mom would grab whatever beef was at the front and grind it up. They also grind their own pork to make sausage, etc. Nothing goes to waste at their house. As expensive as hamburger has gotten - I already have the grinder - I might start doing the same.
  23. Do we have any travel agents around that could help me get some group pricing for a trip? I need to get 17 people to Cimmaron New Mexico in June? Driving is the current plan. But, looking at various costs and time requirements - if I could get a package to travel otherwise that is in the same budget line - we would consider it. The bus right now is about $350 with a $45 shuttle round trip between the bus station and where they need to be. The train (what the kids want most) is almost $800 with the same shuttle cost. Flying, I've heard, can get to about $350, but it's $150 shuttle from De
