  1. We just had this conversation. I'm really considering about pulling our 401k and IRAs back a little. We're too young to completely walk away. But, it might be time for a pull back.
  2. I ONLY buy local wild caught shrimp. Usually kroger at 278/61 has them in the big bags - not the commercial printed bags, but the plain ones with just a label on it. You have to read the label. I did find some at Costco that are frozen - but local wild caught that were larger. They were excellent.
  3. Congratulations. We waited about four-five months before we got a new dog. I knew I wanted one. But, my teens weren't so sure. Oldest knew that he wanted our new one when he met him. Youngest was sure he didn't. Now - about 6 months later - we can't imagine life without Cooper with us. We left him home for three days (with a sitter) this week and I'm not sure who was happier that we were home - us or him. He jumped up in hubby's arms and laid his head down. Then lept towards oldest to be held. !
  4. She seems to be doing quite well since my unknowing computer reset. One of my only complaints about this truck is that she is SOOO sensitive to any change. Any seems like any little thing will cause the stability control and ABS to kick on. So, the big thumping noise could have been the rear drive shaft or it could be the stability kicking in. For example - a tire with a wrong pressure or worn down more than the others will cause all kinds of pinging and banging. The first time it happened resulted in a panicked call to my mechanic who correctly diagnosis ed it as a low/flat tire. I've l
  5. I did unplug the TPS - I didn't want to chance damaging the wiring harness.
  6. So, we all know the saga of my beloved ford explorer. No comments from the peanut gallery. Basics - 2003 Explorer NBX - 305k+ miles - practically rebuilt at this point minus the rear differential and transfer case (no seriously). Over the last two weeks - she's been acting just kinda nutty - stability control/ABS activating at strange times, transmission shifting at strange times, DRINKING gas, etc. Then, she developed a thump when braking as she passed 23 miles an hour (yes, I watched). Given how much work she's had done and the fact that she usually acts a little nutty after being wo
  7. LaBarge was NOT hand picked by the Governor's office. She was one of many nominated by a variety of state government office - AS IS THE NORM!! He also talked about why he reappointed the one commissioner - he said that he was in a no win situation. All of the commissioners were in place when he took office. When one commissioner's term expired - he had a choice - reappoint or replace. They were already embroiled in this ethics situation - so he looked bad if he appointed someone new - and he looked bad if he reappointed the commissioner. Since the commission was already doing the inve

  9. Is he going to comprehensive pain management in Austell?
  10. This is the perfect storm for folks that don't vaccinate. Their system works as long as there's a huge proportion of the population vaccinating to give them tangential protection. But, now that we have a large influx of vaccinated and infected (we know this) folks - they now have no protection. This isn't going to be good. Whooping cough and measles have made a HUGE bounce back in the last three or four years. And, before any one jumps on me for being a sheep and blindly vaccinating my children, please know that they were both on altered vaccination schedules for a variety of reason
  11. Okay - you just have me confused. In response to my post about the funding at McCullum - you posted - Just thinking hard the support face book page has been spewing misinformation out on this since its inception. Members of the PCAA have been spewing misinformation out about this since 2004, It is past time to bring the facts out and let the lies fall where they may. That seems to imply that you think I got that information from a particular facebook page. Which, I didn't. So, I'm still back at the beginning wondering what in the world you're talking about. But, unfor
  12. What are you talking about? I've not been reading the support facebook page. I found this on McCulloum's web page. I did a quick internet search to get a quick idea of where their funding comes from. Again - read the entire thread about McCullum and quit assuming you know everything. Especially if your assumption is that I'm carte blanche supporting anything.
  13. Whitey - you missed the part that this was about McCulloum. That was part of a conversation about McCulloum.
  14. I crawl underneath and check the brand before I go. Before I had my mechanic and I was stuck always using a quicky place - I would put the date on it. Nitro - then I won't service the transmission. It's been about 65K since it was rebuilt. I did really well with that transmission. It seems that the norm for a rebuild or replacement in my truck is about 110k. Something about it being a new transmission or new controller. I don't know. I got her back today from her front drive staff replacement. This explorer is an NBX edition and I knew it was a bit shorter than a regular explorer
  15. But, a big part of the argument about the airport is that the surrounding communities would be affected. Obviously that's not true. Your parents even BOUGHT there knowing there was an airport. So, obviously it can't be that bad for the surrounding communities. And, they built a high school there - so obviously it can't be DEVASTATING for the school that's close by. All public projects like that have a tax payer portion. That's just the nature of the beast.
  16. I had to giggle last night. I have a friend whose son is going enlisted Air Force in two weeks. She and her husband are retired Navy. She said to me - he leaves for AF boot camp on the 28th. ! It happens.
  17. We partially follow the Clark Howard mindset. We do buy new vehicles - both the 95 tahoe and the 03 explorer were bought new. But, as you can see - we do the rest of the plan. But, at this point, I think we've proven that we will drive them til the wheels fall off so while we ate the depreciation - we're making up for it on the 17 years of no car payments on the tahoe.
  18. Can you recommend somewhere to get that done? My guy doesn't do transmission work. And, explain to me why some folks say you should never touch an automatic transmission that's working. My dad refuses to get theirs serviced. Says you shouldn't. It's just a gimmick to get your money.
  19. I've had the same problem. ! That's why I try to go to my guy for oil changes. But, if not - I ask for the oil filter back. That way I know they at least did that much.
  20. We've used them occasionally - not on a regular basis. It's actually a little far out for most of us to drive. I apologize. My comment about running it into the ground was not directed at you - it was a editorial comment. I should have delineated it better than I did. But, I do worry about that. As a community - it seems like folks bully anyone that finds something useful about that facility into the ground. It will become a self fulfilling prophecy that it will fail. Just makes me very sad. It could be so much more, but I'm afraid it will end up being so little. You know - it ju
  21. I normally agree with you - but I find that when you get away from the military community - most folks don't. Shocks me - but they don't. And, when I do use the correct term - often I have to explain it - the Air Force version of boot camp etc. It's crazy. But, true.
  22. A big part of the lack of usage is due to the tornado a while back - it took alot of the work out of there because the aircraft were then destroyed. ! Scouts have used the meeting rooms - I know that there have been other groups meeting there. But, you know as a community - we should run the ground into place and keep trashing it all the internet so that no one will never come and use the place. Then - the predictions will all come true!!!
  23. It's funny - I took our 1995 Tahoe to them ONCE, had such horrible service that I never went back to them for anything.
  24. The general population don't know things like that. They just know what the movies call it.
  25. It is my prediction that ALL of our medical industry will go overseas - between the taxes, the government imposed overhead, the EPA/FDA/USDA restrictions, and the shear cost of labor - it's going to become impossible to do business in this country.
