  1. In my mind - 1. File a police report against the boy for rape, statuory rape, trespassing, etc. Anything that anyone can think of. Endangering the younger one, etc., etc. Throw the book at him. 2. Look into filing a police report against the older daughter - endangering the younger daughter. 3. Full cooperation with DFACs. Let them start sorting out this behavior. At this age - there isn't much more raising that Mom is going to do. Once they are about 12 years old - we're just smoothing out the edges - we can't really make any major adjustments. Let her go to DFACs and
  2. There are alot of ways that our house is built very, very well. We both have alot of experience in building construction and I am pleased with the way it was built. Our driveway was poured over fill - so it cracked fairly quickly but hasn't gotten any worse in about 15 years. Our slab has a crack in it - but that's pretty common as well. We filled it and it hasn't gotten any worse.
  3. Our house has its cycles where we've replaced stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary. We did the HVAC unit a couple of years ago. The roof was damaged in a storm so insurance replaced that. Some new appliances over the years. We will need new siding here soon. And, believe me, the warranty/class action payout didn't come close to paying for the new siding. At the best payout - it would have paid about 1/2 of it. And, if you are getting siding replaced for $7k - please let me know by whom. The lowest quote we've gotten is $15k.
  4. We have an auto-system. 66 for heat, 74 for AC. Our youngest has HORRIBLE allergies. So, the house stays closed up for his sake. I'll open it up and air out the house for a few hours after a good hard rain. So, ours has been on - technically - always. !
  5. I have a youth in a youth group that I'm in charge of that was talked into bringing alcohol to school. He did - they drank (he did not). They all got caught. Him with the water bottle full and them with alcohol on their breath. They all were suspended and subsequently expelled for the rest of the year. They all faced legal action as well. I very willingly was a character witness for this young man. Basically, I told the court that he was young, immature, and can act like an idiot. But, over the last year, I gave ten or twelve examples of how I saw him growing up and making better de
  6. Go to the unaccompanied minor counter - kinda behind the check in counter. Explain to them the situation. I've never had them tell me no. Be a little pushy and a little teary. Get him to look embarassed and bored. ! I bet they will issue you a gate pass to go back with him. See how he does and then decide if you need to do the same to get him home.
  7. I find that for about every person that is happy with Obamacare - I find about three or four people that have been royally screwed. And, Mrmn - I don't believe statistics on the face. You have to dig deeply into them to find out what they are telling you. And, unfortunately, this administration isn't good about telling you the details. They also haven't done enough to earn my trust to believe anything they say at face value. And, just for the record, I'm quite distrustful of ALL administrations and their published statistics. But, whether it's my age and higher awareness of what's goi
  8. Brother got kicked off his previous plan because it was a male only plan. New plan is 3 times the cost, 5 times the deductible, double the copays, etc. Luckily, he rarely goes to the doctor. This is just so my parents can sleep at night knowing he's covered catastrophically.
  9. Looks like our finest are enforcing our community speed limits.
  10. It looks like you can find the contact information here. http://qpublic7.qpublic.net/ga_search_dw.php?county=ga_paulding I just checked for someone that doesn't live at the address they own (rental property) - it will give you their mailing address. I would express mail him a letter explaining the situation and to give you a call.
  11. That was just a rough off the top estimate on her part. But, still - you see that it costs. There's liability insurance, there's taxes, payroll, all the overhead, I realize it's a tough check to write - but the reality is that's what it costs. Maybe folks need to think twice before they complain little a corporation pays someone - there's alot of expenses that go with employing someone. AND, a business is in business to make money. Otherwise, they would be a non-profit.
  12. Expensive?? Yeah - the total number is. But, that's the reality of the "living wage." I don't know what the rates are locally. But, a friend has to have a night caregiver for her mother - high fall risk, dementia, etc. They pay the service approximately $4000 a month. That works out to $133 (assuming 30 days in a month) which works out to $16 an hour. Approximately. Wow - that's alot for that job. Well, her mother's caregiver is a CNA that is going to school for her RN degree. So - she has advanced education. And, it's a service so the service gets its cut. I called a friend tha
  13. A friend is going through this with her mother. Please get a service. Her mother's night caregiver has been sleeping through the night and then became belligerent with the rehab staff when they confronted her. Without a service, she would have to start looking again. Instead - she just calls the service and gets a new person.
  14. I have to brag. Well, kinda. Today didn't go well. Due to a watch being on central time from our spring break trip - we missed Easter dinner at our house. We had gone to do a good dead for a friend and missed dinner. Mom and Dad left to go get Mexican. Let me just say - I was IN TROUBLE with Mom. But, they left their part of dinner - the church lady jello salad and the honey baked country ham. The salad is so good that I've eaten about half of what was meant to serve 8 people. The ham - oh my - my dad may have outdone himself. Beyond heaven. I sharpened up my best knife and have
  15. Mom's bringing the country ham and the church lady jello salad. I'm doing asparagus and hollandaise sauce; Paula Dean's rice almondine; brussels sprouts; squash; and maybe another dessert if I get around to it. Happy Easter
  16. My MIL works nights in the OR so my hubby grew up on hospital food. He loves it. My youngest loves it as well - he and my mom eat at the Tanner cafeteria when they go for allergy shots once a month. It's their thing to do. I'm sure we'll end up there for a meal. Just because. Glad to know that it's so clean and well designed.
  17. I didn't have a middle name. I took my maiden name as my middle name. That was a hassle when my dad was in the army though.
  18. They are getting ready for worlds competition at the end of April at Disney. So - crazy amount of practice between now and then. This comp - they will be putting some new components on the floor. Should be good!! They all do. I haven't heard who put it together. Sometimes it's crazy hard and sometimes it's not. ! I wish he had had the time to work with them - but a two day AP calculus test and an AP physics test plus practice is just more time than there is in a day.
  19. My oldest cheered for four years - he's not helping with tryouts this year. He's swamped with school work and we are leaving Friday morning for a cheer competition. It will be weird not being at all the away games. I'll still be at the home games - my troop does the peanut stand. Big year of change for me.
  20. Cheer packets are up front at Mrs. York's desk. She was putting them together on Monday. I don't know that it's available online. Is she a rising 9th grader?
  21. Rome Braves tickets for Saturday night that they are looking to get rid of? Never had to get them in advance before. Now I'm sad. ;(!
  22. When the element went out of my dryer - I replaced it myself. Very easy job - alot of youtube videos will show you how.
  23. He does not. He said probably your best bet is the GA Farmers Market newspaper.
  24. I'll ask my dad. He has a ton of lumber in his shop - he may have a piece. How big of a piece?
  25. There are technical limits on uverse. If I remember correctly - you have to be within 3300 ft of the big telephone box (called a SLIC). I know nothing about comcast. My parents can only get DSL at this point - does that work for you? If the house has phone lines - you should be able to get high speed dsl. Unfortunately, you can't use any of the wireless options because of the nature of your work, right? Another option would be to find office space that has high speed access and work there until you figure out the home internet options. Perhaps someone on here has an extra offic
