  1. Paulding politics has been operating this way forever. The Powers that be, plus some of the old ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS, Chambers Brown Nosers, and a few others all decide whoa they want and do their best to stack the deck for their anointed ones, and kick the opposition to the ground. Then write a bunch of $2000 checks, and sit back and wait for the results. Really quite pitiful, but if you really sit down and analize the results, and get out your calculator, it is embarrassing to see what they winners actually paid per vote.
  2. Never took up golf. I figured any sport I could participate in and drink at the same time could be hazardous to my overall well being.
  3. It is off of Austell Road, a mile or so from the hospital. A bit hard to spot, but at the Florence [?] road "Y". I got some gorgeous boneless rib eyes cut 1-3/4" thick for $5 a pound. And the one we ate, which fed 3 with left overs, was great [yes I air dried it for 4-5 days first]. Rest of the store is kind of like a Warehouse Club store, but they have some deals. Its Worth the drive from Dallas, and I had a $5 coupon too.
  4. Don't be scared of raw eggs, if:....... It is from a commercial layer flock. They are tested on an almost daily basis for SE contamination and exposure. It is fresh. It was at 35F within 90 minutes of lay at the layer farm. And check the date of the cartooned eggs, taking one from the back with an older sell by date so you are getting the freshest ones. Even if there is SE, it will not be enough CFU [CColony forming uniits] to hurt anyone. I love raw eggs in Hollandaise Sauce and Caesar salads,, and some icings, as well as fresh home made mayonnaise.
  5. My 4-1/2 pound Chihuahua eats all she can. However the Mexican Hairless [Xolo Squinkle] my daughter and SIL have are NOT allowed to eat left overs. Only their fancy bagged dog food. Which I disagree with. I have fed all my dogs table scraps since whenever and most if not all have lived to upper double digits. The Aztec Royalty raised and raised the damn fugly dogs for the dinner table, and I tease my daughter after one of them has gotten into Abuelita Melissa's potted plants that I might see how they actually tase on the grill. Do you skin them first or what ? The freezer food
  6. In making this aioli, I take a little issue with the warning note. If you are using store bought Grade A eggs, NOT CAGE FREE, and they are very fresh, 72 hours since purchase or less, and the newest sell by date on the package at the store, then you really don't have to worry about SE [salmonella Enterititus] and can consume those raw eggs with little worry of stomach ailments to follow. I would NOT use backyard flock eggs to consume raw. They are not tested for SE the way commercial hens are. We test all commercial flocks on a weekly basis for just exposure to SE, let alone if they
  7. We did get tomatillos and peppers and a pound of peeled garlic intending to make Enchilada or Salsa Verde tomorrow to go with some braised chicken leg quarters for a big dish of Enchiladas Pollo.
  8. On the way back from the Emory Neurologist at 85 and North Druid Hills, we stopped at the Buford Highway Farmers Market. No Meat or Fish as I have been trying to totally reorganize my freezers after a year of being rather medically handicapped. We have 1-1/2 freezers downstairs in the basement, and it is kind of dangerous and treacherous for me to navigate so everyone else has been putting stuff in and taking stuff out. And they forgot about rotating from the back to the front.. Oh well..... But I had to get some nice cheeze a k I mushrooms, bean sprouts, fresh ginger, and other o
  9. What's the latest financial data on the Movie Studio ? How much more has been lost in the past 18 months ? Is Mr Swafford's pet project making a big fat profit yet ?
  10. Or someone who knows copyright laws and how to go about filing for and obtaining a copyright. I know it took us about 2 years and one hell of alot of money to copyright SUREPIP, but it was done correctly and has been renewed several times since 1983 when we registered it.
  11. Showing my age here. I was a BioChemistry Major. Hand held calculators were just becoming affordable and offered a HUGE advantage when having to calculate square roots, multiplications, etc. So the professors changed to rules, and gave a 90% of the grade score for problems that had the equation written down and was set up properly. Then an additional 10% for having the correct numerical answer. You could have ALL the right answers, but without the equation you would fail the test with a 10. The students with fatter wallets did have an advantage for a while, but with the modified
  12. I mean really....$0.29 a pound!!! I baked them standing up like a row of books but with an inch in between in a special rack. Various dry seasonings, and then balsamic vinegar at the end. Really sweet and tasty meat. Tonight we are pulling the meat off the bones and putting it in a white sauce over pasta, and a big salad. Quick easy, and almost free. What 'cha having at your place ? Its nice to be doing some cooking again, but I am still very limited as to what I can and cannot do. It depends somewhat on how the jerks, spasms, and tremens are doing. Or not doing. Some
  13. Since beer is one of the few alcoholic beverages I do NOT like [as well as Scotch], this one doesn't matter to me one way or another. I have yet to find a decent eating place in all of Paulding County. El Jalapeno was pretty good, but then we were good friends with the owner who would serve us food not on the menu.
  14. Abuelita [Grandmother] and grandaughter are at the movies today.
  15. Try a 10-12" non stick skillet. 1-1/2" to 2" of lightly salted water. You can experiment later with a little wine etc. Until you are comfortable, crack your eggs into a bowl [avoids burned fingers] Bring the pan to a hard boil and stir the water with your holey spoon or spatula. I have a fish spatula with slots and a slight curve about 5-6r" of blade. When you have a slight vortex slowly pour in the eggs one at a time, but quickly [so they all cook about the same rate]. As the water comes back to a boil turn it to medium heat so they cook gently. As the white over the yolk thick
  16. Week before last Sav a Lot had 10# bags of leg quarters for $2.90. Figure it out.....thats half the price as a 35 pound bag of middle of the line dog food. I stewed 20 pounds, cooled them, stripped of the meat and froze it, and then let the bones simmer in the broth over night and canned 9 quarts of stock. We use the meat for chicken salad, soups, and enchiladas or tacos. Last week Aldi had 5 pound logs of ground beef, ....73%/27%, for $1.89 a pound. Now I am NOT one to buy store ground or meat packing ground beef, but I though hey, we can give it a try. I was impressed. We m
  17. Meltid arranged for us to fix Daisy. It was VERY reasonable and they took great care of her. You have to take the pet to the meeting place in a pet carrier early in the morning, and then pick them up the next morning. Daisy was back to her bossy self in a few days and has done great since. Its been a couple of years now. We were lucky.....she is basically the same wieght she was when she was spayed and had no side effects other than raising her singing voice half an octave. Yes, Daisy sings for us daily.
  18. I got paid for a job I instigated in Belgium 4 years ago last January. At that time the Euro was almost $1.50. Now, Wells Fargo used an exchange rate of $1.09 for my Euro wire transfer that was put in my account. That SUCKS! But......now is a great time to take that trip to Europe if youv'e been wanting to and can afford it. The hotels, food, etc. will be about 40% cheaper than it was several years ago. I wish I was physically able [Thanks a lot Wellstar for killing me last summer!] and had some extra bucks laying around collecting dust. And the spring is a great time to visit Pa
  19. Oh my God Becky!!! Eggs Benedict. Poached Eggs on an English Muffin with sliced Ham and lots of fresh Hollandaise Sauce. Good stuff. 1 Stick of Butter 2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice 3 Egg Yolks We will have the rest of the Hollandaise on Asparagus tonight. Bon Apetite!!! What's your favorite Sunday Brunch Meal ?
  20. It does not take a rocket s sceintist to understand that the county does NOT provide sufficeint funding for the various sports program, and with the state laws now somewhat dictating that ALL sports must be equal in their government funding, then it is a no brainer that in order to have these sports program, someone has to come up with the bucks just to keep a playable field in use. Whats the problem with those sports selling advertising which in essence goes 100% to the sports programs ? Me thinks someone is nit picking the advertising funding.
  21. If all our politicians were as good as Kim Cobb, there would be very, very little to bitch about on Paulding.com!!! I was very proud of Kim when she won her 1st election to the BOE, and have been extremely pleased with her hands on involvement. Even more so personnally knowing Kim, and the individual who she ran against to take the seat. My only negative comment would be that I wished Kim was downtown under the Gold Dome representing Paulding County as one of our State Representative, instead of the lady Kim unseated at the school board. Seriously, if all our politicians were as in
  22. Since when is Easter considered a bank, or governmental holdiay ? I used to joke we are one of the few country whose government puts God's name on our money, but does not actually celebrate the holiday. In Europe and much of Latin America it is considered a major holiday, and actually runs from Thursday afternoon until Tuesday morning. Banks and government are all closed. Are the Paulding governmental offices paying the employees for the time off, or giving them 2 days off without pay?
  23. Thank God its FRIDAY, and since its still Lent we are doing meatless: We are not Holy Roller sticklers, but we have found showing the chukdren, and now Grandchildren Tradition.....no meat on Fridays from Ash Wednesday until Easter, helps them understand Lent and the Easter Season Wrapped up in a parchment envelope.... Wild Caught Pink Salmon fillets, 3-4 ounces Large Wild Caught Guld Shrimp, 4-5 or whatever.... Onions slices Lemon slices Asparagus spears Grape tomatoes Salt and Pepper Butter Dry white Wine Build up a nice pile on a relatively large sheet of Parchment o
  24. The SCOTUS is supposed to have 9 sitting members. I could see and understand stonewalling a lame duck appointee after the Novermeber election waiting for everyone to be seated. But there is NO WAY you can justify sitting and waiing for 10 month to seat a new justice. This is just wrong. And if the Dems win, what will be the excuse then ?
  25. Partisan politics aside....... Who in the hell gave these assholes the right to deprive me of 1/3 of my duly appointed government ? If a senator dies tomorrow, do they wait 9 months for the election cycle to end appoint a replacement ? We deserve 9 sitting justices. Period......end of discussion. Replublican Senators....get up off your lazy asses and either confirm him or show good reason to deny him. Obama showed one hell of a lot of class appointing such a senior individual who will only be around for X number of years, He will not match his predece
