The nephews (ages 8 and 10) are coming to town from Boston. We need to keep them busy for the week. I have the typical downtown Atlanta sites on the list (Aquarium, MLK Historic Site, CNN tour, etc.) Pickett's Mill hours don't really work for us weekend-wise. It seems the state parks are now running on the same limited Sonny schedule. We're thinking about the new science museum in Cartersville. Has anyone been there and have comments to share? Is there a car show in Dallas this weekend or next Friday? We may travel down to Warm Springs and Andersonville. Something

No, not really. We spend way too much on these supplies. The tax credit doesn't cover it. But thanks. I'm not angry about furlough days. It's just a bit absurd. Here's why. We build and maintain school buildings that are empty for a significant part of the year. We rent the buildings at below-market rates for non-school-related organizations. We have extensive school bus routes where most children are carried by the family car to school. We don't charge market rate for parking on school premises. There's more. I was in south Georgia today for a legal meeting. The discussion turned to family law and the many complications-- people remarrying without having been divorced from prior partners, custody battles, child suppor tnightmares. I remarked that instead of "car fax" we ought to have a service called "partner fax" in which you could order up a psych, financial, health and prior relationship profile.
