  1. US Labor Wage and Hour would love to nab some of these folks and make an example of them.... The minimum wage is the minimum wage.
  2. If the wage deduction brings the employee's wages under the minimum wage, then that's a violation of the Fair Labor Standards act. Recovery? Treble damages and attorneys fees.
  3. Good one. Thank you for posting this reminder on the unauthorized practice of law.
  4. I'm looking for info on bike rental on the Silver Comet trail. Nothing on the web that I can find except some spam sites. One site looked legit, but the links send you out to domain advertising sites. Anyone have any info? Is this a Parks and Rec question?
  5. If you're not the lead sled dog, the view never changes.
  6. You mean people actually stop at stop signs in your area of the county? Not here. Not even in subdivisions when children are present.
  7. I noticed flags flying at halfmast in WV last week.
  8. Just try to use Fulton forms in south Georgia... And yes, a "paralegal" who is not supervised by a lawyer is committing the unauthorized practice of law. Usually, in south Georgia, a judge will report this if he or she discovers the paralegal is ghost writing. If you absolutely, positively do not have the money for a lawyer, you should avoid a "paralegal-only" operation and just go straight to the self-help forms that are totally free online in many superior court systems. See www.appfamilylawcenter.org, for example. You should at least talk to a lawyer about "unbundling" services-- th

  10. My carrier matched an offer I got from Gas South, so I didn't have to switch. Just call your current provider. If you've been with them for a while they'll match current offers.
  11. I can't stand to be addressed as "you guys" by the staff. I would like a glass of water. Don't ask, just bring it. Some hosts are far too cheery - to the point of insincerity. Tone it down. Don't talk to me every two minutes. Make eye contact. You'll know if I need something.
  12. I drove down Hiram Sudie yesterday before 11 a.m. in my Fusion, from the 61 side all the way to 92. No problem at all. Drove about 30-40 in most spots. Get to work!
  13. I went down Camp Creek to the airport yesterday morning with no problems. No stopping, No creeping. In fact I was able to pass in several locations I drive a Ford Fusion, so I would think your big fancy 4-wheel drive trucks probably can make the trip.
  14. I drove from about 61 and Hiram Sudie to the airport. Left just before 11 a.m. One to two lanes open, no problem. Drove mostly 40 MPH Hiram Sudie to 92N to 278 to Camp Creek
  15. Bogus. Tight budget? No, taxpayers who don't care about the welfare of the community, just themselves. Well, the state lost a ton of sales tax money today. Let's see how that helps a tight budget.
  16. Think of the hundreds of millions of dollars in lost productivity just today and tomorrow here in the metro area. It's like living in a banana republic when you can't get basic necessary services. Let's all just stay home and enjoy lost wages, lost opportunity and delight that we've saved a couple million in salt and cinders.
  17. Does anyone know if 278 is passable? I need to get to the airport!
  18. We're not renewing ours this month. A plain old tag will do.
  19. Another Mexican restaurant? Yawn.
  20. Unless. of course, it's a "different kind" of film! LOL
  21. If they're from Virginia, they may not be interested in snow attractions.
  22. Paulding drivers never surprise me anymore. People who own 4-wheel drive vehicles: You are not in control of your vehicle on ice-- don't be foolhardy.
  23. I left my Atlanta office around 3:30. I took a look at weather.gov and it was obvious. Even at 3:30, the Peters Street bridge was icy. It starte getting bad around southwest Cobb- and not one radio station or news station was reporting any issues for the western suburbs. I saw 2 accidents around Brownsville. The bridge on Bennet road (?) was icy, and Hiram Sudie Road was dangerous-- and of course, typical Paulding drivers weren't leaving any distance between cars-- tailgating was the norm, Idiot drivers. The local news stations are just now talking about ice on our side of town. Sta
