  1. I can answer the Styrofoam one. Duh, they wrap it in plastic, then put it in a box lined with Styrofoam.
  2. Prayers and positive thoughts sent!
  3. An interesting article about possible causes of addiction definitely make you pause and think. Making drugs legal is one step towards controlling the problem but we have to change as a society as well in order to treat addiction successfully. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/johann-hari/the-real-cause-of-addicti_b_6506936.html
  4. Thanks! I'm hoping to shoot for one in each: psychology and sociology and afterwards go into research. Of course, all depends on how well I do on my GRE.
  5. Bachelor's. I'm hoping to skip Master's and shoot straight for the big one. I'm an overachiever.
  6. It will be an interesting study both from psychological and sociological perspectives. Actually, several great studies. And I'm still working out my hypothesis (and the ones that would correlate with this one) so there is really nothing to reveal yet!
  7. The consent form that comes with the survey is up to all regulations. I saw no need to copy and paste it into the post. I do find it fascinating though with the difference in responses here and another forum I posted it on. Different hypothesis spring to mind starting with how difficult it is for people to discuss certain things even when it comes to health, physical and mental, and potentially can lead to its betterment. Food for thought!
  8. I'm doing a research project for my professor that's necessary for me to complete before I can graduate and transfer to University in Ga (I'm still moving up to your neck of the woods but the research will help with the choice of University) and I could really use some help getting this project completed This survey is for males only, 25 years of age and up. Sorry Ladies, I'll have another survey for you in the future but it would be greatly appreciated if you could get your husbands to fill it out! The survey is absolutely ANONYMOUS and you don't have to sign it with your name, unle
  9. Well the initials of the bank seemed to have changed for the better. I mean FU wasn't really a bank you'd want to deal with. But they retained the same customer service...
  10. The good thing is now you won't get cold. You have plenty of coal to warm your fire!
  11. Not as bad as I am. Remember, one for you, four for me? I was still very chipper looking at my presents even though I had to almost crawl back to my room. It was a great day.
  12. For a moment there I thought I was on the wrong page in one of my Russian forums. Phew! Oh and I never play games with food. Especially the chocolate kind. I see food, I enjoy food. I don't think about color codes or hidden keys. I just go for it. Wait. Does this mean I'm too wild and live dangerously? Hmmm... Oh well, dangerous it is. *said while I reach for one of those marbled truffles*
  13. We considered ourselves as part of original Alaska that some dumb Tsar sold off way baaack when. It's easier to explain where I'm from geographically because we were only 2 hours away by plane from Alaska. And no one I've ever spoken to in USA (and including the majority of Russians come to think of it) has ever heard of Chukotka. When I say I'm from Arctic everybody assumes I'm from Siberia which is right in the middle of Russia and still way off from where I lived. The only way people can get an idea is if I say I could wave Sarah Palin right out of my window. Hence Alaska.
  14. Some days in the summer, yes. Especially if you were going into the mushy areas. At the very least you didn't leave your house without being dosed with a gallon of mosquito repellent because they would be swarming above you in these huge clouds. Literally clouds of mosquitoes. That's Alaska to you.
  15. Ha! We didn't have houses with screened in porches! I had no idea your windows and porches could have a screen until I came to USA. But we did have the screens you wear for mosquitoes (you know the kind you would wear if you were around beehives). Does that count?
  16. I don't remember seeing the antennas on the roofs of the houses much when I was growing up, probably because I never paid attention as it was "part of the architecture" of those years. But I do remember being an antenna when I was a kid with my Dad directing where to move and bend those wires and staying there least the fuzzy wuzzy monster attacked the TV again. I was also a remote control and had the honor of flipping the channel for my parents to the three stations we had.
  17. Ohhhh that's a big one there! But... instead of filing for a divorce you could use this is your get out of jail free card the next time you do something that could potentially land you into the dog house for a long, LONG time. I'd save it though for a serious offense then bring it up and bam! you're back in the bedroom and not freezing with the rest of the foolish dogs who squandered such an opportunity on something minor.
  18. You picked a better part of Florida! For me it's still Florida though and I can't wait to get out of it.
  19. I'm a little more south of it but I do go to Ormond Beach often. It's a pretty area but too close to tourists for my liking. Yes, we've needed the rain but now the temps are dropping fast too. It won't be pretty if drops to freezing like it did few years ago. I'll be preparing just in case it does. Wouldn't want to be surprised like the Florida weathermen are when their forecast changes.
  20. Yep, I am on the east. I'm in Daytona Beach area and this rain doesn't seem to let up. They're promising the entire weekend to be cold and wet for us. Oh well, more's the reason to stay in and decorate the Christmas tree.
  21. I have to run out today for some odds and ends. But I doubt there will be many cheerful people down here, we've had non-stop rain for two days straight and people in Fl are spoiled by the supposed constant sunshine. Well, hoping for the best anyway: smiling people and not so crowded stores. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
  22. Someone was definitely watching out for you today! Glad you're well. Oh and I've heard about this pee wee person too (haha word travels even down to Fl) being honest and not charging you an arm and a leg.
  23. Need more data. Those of us who missed that conveniently absent threat have nothing to compare to. Although this thread seems nice and sweet and all, I sense the conspiracy to eliminate all evidence of why the other one would have been better.
