  1. I have been a couple of times. It is good family fun in the style of small town life like it used to be. These are good family oriented people who would give you the shirt off of their back. Brian there are times to keep your smart ass comments to yourself. This is one of them.
  2. So very sorry. May God send his comforting Angels for you and your family.
  3. Very good ideas. I would add how about renting a cabin at Redtop Mountain and visiting the same sites you named. Booth is a really nice museum I have always been impressed that we have a cultural site that nice that close to home.
  4. I want to put a disclaimer up front. I love Dolly Parton so I may be biased. I read today that Dolly is giving $1000.00 a month to every family that lost their homes in that area. Supposedly for as long as it takes them to recover/relocate and get back on their feet. Makes me proud to be from the south, you go girl.
  5. Congressman Price will be a very good pick for that position. He is a physician (orthopedic surgeon I think ?) and a fiscal conservative. He is also a close ally of VP Pence.
  6. Playoffs-yes Super bowl-? This team is bipolar. The team that showed up today is a contender. The one that showed up against Philadelphia is a first round play off bust. Consistency seems top be a problem. Defense wins championships offense sells tickets. Falcons have a lot of offense and just enough defense it seems. I hope they keep on rolling. It was an entertaining game today.
  7. Working around so many healthcare facilities that require a flu shot I got mine in October. If not for the requirements I would probably not get one. Have never had any adverse effects but not sure if it helps or not. Have not had the flu since early 90's but never got it without the shot either.
  8. Class act, articulate, smart, very good at her job. RIP Miss Gwen.
  9. Smoke was very heavy in Cartersville Friday and today. Could no see the stacks at Bowen from Cartersville.
  10. Guilty on all eight counts, judge will sentence. Vic was prepared.
  11. RIP Leon truly an original with an unmistakable voice. There is a DVD plus You Tube documentary and concert on his collaboration with Elton John from 2010. It is worth watching and although not extremely healthy his voice is great.
  12. While not the perfect trifecta I will take it. Georgia won, Auburn lost and Michigan lost. That is a good day in college ball in my world. There are others I would like to see win/lose but I will savor the small things. I know UGA is not that good this year but Go Dawgs I am not a fair weather fan. Oh yeah as a bonus Clemson lost too, maybe I should play the lottery.
  13. I have known Patrick for over twenty years and he still lives in the county. I have been to his house numerous times and I saw him Thursday as a matter of fact. We often disagree on issues but he has always been a good friend to me. I have helped him and he has helped me in the past. I really don't pay attention to some of his friends or causes as they have no impact on me. I take him for who he is including all his faults of which I have plenty myself.
  14. I am not far from the Paulding fire and certainly hope it is contained without any loss of property or life. The up side is mother nature needs these fires. For millennia lightning strikes have started massive fires that eliminate undergrowth that chokes out forest and vegetation. This Spring the greenest spot in Paulding will be where the fire is now. Some plant species (I think the Loblolly or some pines) require the heat from these fires to activate the seed pods or pine cones allowing the release of seeds. I know this fire was probably made but the end result is the same.
  15. Semper Fidelis. I have a Marine that works for me. He is not active but once a Marine always a Marine.
  16. Johnny Ringo- "Smells like somebody died." Curly Bill chuckles in disbelief-"GD Johnny." This is how I picture the departure of the Hildabeast from the national stage.
  17. That's the most traffic I have seen at the Silver Comet Paulding West Atlanta Shearin Rakestraw Ragsdale Austin Carmichael International Airport in a while.
  18. I have been in a movie theater twice since 1994. Once for "Gods and Generals" (with my brother) which I liked and once for "American Sniper" (with my mother) which was just ok. Hollyweird has been irrelevant since the onset of the big blockbuster special effect crap that limits the actors. Not to mention there are very few good actors left. I did watch The Theory of Everything recently and thought the actor was brilliant. Currently reading Highest Duty by Captain Sully Sullenberger.
  19. Good game down to the wire. Not a Cubs or Indians fan but still a good game. The Cubs manager almost managed himself out of a title. Have seen a lot of over thinking in football and baseball recently. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and trust your players not the statistics.
  20. True but only in the primaries and you do not have to be a card carrying member of a particular party you just ask for R or D. The general election is the same ballot for both parties.
  21. Appointments have been manipulated since inception. This applies to SCOTUS, Fed/State judgeships, ambassadors, cabinet members, etc. Right or wrong both parties do it. Cruz is not doing it because he is a Republican he is doing it as a Conservative who is sick of the direction the country is headed. The only way he can try to influence the future court is to be allies with the GOP which are no big fans of Senator Cruz.
  22. Quick thinking under pressure.Great job guys.
