Everyone should be concerned about this ruling, it sets precedent allowing unelected authorities and boards to spend taxpayer dollars to benefit private industry, without citizen input. This is not a good ruling, the entire state of Georgia government now has free reign to spend your hard earned dollars as they see fit on their pet projects.

I'll be working hard to get Bob Snelling elected as well. If Whitey wants to work for Kimberly, that's fine. You know where I'll be about every Saturday Bob needs me. Yea, a lot of crossover for Perdue, still think Kingston was the best man for the job, but I will also work to make sure Michelle Nunn stays home.

Out of likes, Whitey! I know you support her. That's the beauty of all this, we can be on opposite sides of stuff but still be friends! Proud to know you and work with you on what we agree on!!

BOC meeting Commission meeting recessed at noon ...

I know you think this is funny, but you do realize those planes will be a lot closer to your house than those going to Hartsfield, they'll also be going much slower on approach to land. A passenger plane is about 6,000 feet 20 miles out, we're 30 miles away from Hartsfield, 737s would be about 10000 feet. -
Well, then I guess they are hacking into my stuff, too. Twice in the past month someone has tried to access my computer and get credit card info. I know at least 5 others this has happened to. Wonder if it was the pro-airport people? This is bogus, who breaks into someone's house and steals nothing? Really? A house with video camera security systems in place.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. That's why it's so bizarre. Why would anyone do that? Pretty sure there are legitimate ways to get what they need. None of the people I know are hackers or thieves. ~~shrug~~

I have seen many "public schooled" kids behave the same way, it has to do with parenting, not necessarily "home schooling".
-
I know many home school parents that do an awesome job. They are incredible and use the outdoors as a classroom for science and history. Unlike public school children, they are not programed, they are taught to retain not merely test. I wish I had taken the time to do that with my children. You don't have to do it between 8:00 and 3:30 every day, lessons can be taught any time the opportunity arises. These are some of the brightest and most well adjusted children I know. Sadly we only hear about the "bad" ones, rarely the successes. Many of those home school parents that probably

You are hilarious. I've been rolling about some of your posts lately, too. I think you should do a little research and see what that original environmental assessment says. Isn't that what journalists do? I crack up at how you think facts are funny but are great at changing the subject. -

KV and you, yes you Pubby will be impacted by planes flying over your head. In 1972 when they did the initial study for Atlanta, they advised them that Hiram would probably need to be bought out. I appreciate KV protecting my interest, even if you don't. That 120,00o+ he wanted an explanation for was legitimate as was the question about the $250,000 they get from the FAA. Like me KV is tired of salaries paid to condescending employees being used to intimidate everyone. I'm sure Mike Jones' salary is less than one tenth of 1% of the county budget. However, I'm pretty sure he'd mis -

BOC meeting Commission meeting recessed at noon ...

I just don't understand. A taxpaying citizen gets up to speak at a public hearing, with no time limit, is chastised by the County Administrator for asking questions he doesn't want to answer and the citizen is wrong? I saw no one being disrespectful but the "officials". Would anyone care to tell me how that happens? -

Mike Jones should be embarrassed, he behaved like a spoiled brat that didn't want to answer questions. Perhaps he needs to find a new line of work. When the very person he tries to make look bad is paying his salary. I'm ashamed to be from Paulding County. The City of Atlanta and most of the state is laughing at the leadership of podunk Paulding County, telling the citizens and taxpayers what they have to say is irritating to them. -

^^^ This attitude is exactly why this commission and airport are doomed! You don't see a citizen, you see someone speaking out about something you want and he doesn't. Instead of chastising the opposition, why not try to have an intelligent conversation? You see being all educated and stuff, don't make you smart. Whitey is a pretty smart feller! He's not afraid to speak out about what concerns him. He asks questions and tries to have dialog, but what does the County Administrator do? Tells him, in a self serving diatribe, a budget hearing is not the time to talk about the budget and -

Surely our Commission chair wouldn't be doing this so when the new commissioners take their seats in January, the millage rate and/or taxes will have to be raised so he can say, "See............look what they've done". Surely that couldn't happen. -
Any time he gets a chance to dig at people that don't agree with him, it just happens. What she said was she gave up her worldly possessions and left the ugliness such as this behind her. She was awesome and didn't stop smiling!! What I find even more amazing is that she's walking for Vets, not for herself. She has already found her salvation and is looking to spread her vision with those that she feels need it most.

This also tells you where your polling place is to go vote. Pay attention, they have a habit of changing it without telling anyone.

Make arrangements with the lab and the Dr's office to make payments, most of them will let you. It's not a lot of $$ and I'd hate to see him without medication for a couple more months. Have you tried to talk to your church?

Bd of Ed Tax Hike Hearings Tuesday & July 22
tundra replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I understand what you are saying here but "refund some areas of the budget" sort of sounds like you'll be giving some money back. I think what you are trying to say is that some areas of the budget that declined will again be funded. -

Really I have no issue funding the schools, but as has been mentioned, doing it wisely. I appreciate them holding the line and not increasing the tax base but they didn't give us a cut any more than they gave us an increase. You taxes go up and down based on the valuation of your property, even if the rates remain the same. Our school board has some hefty debt that must be repaid, 50% of the E-splost will be going toward that debt. I voted yes for E-splost. -

This has everything to do with increased valuations, the BOE is not raising taxes but the action will result in a net increase of over 14% prompting a need to have a public meeting. My point being, your taxes are going up. Just how much is determined by the value of your real property from last year to this year. -

She did file the appeal for her valuation increase, yesterday was the deadline to do that for 2014. I wasn't complaining, I was explaining that the assessed value the county puts on real property is not always accurate.
