  1. Let me say, for the silent majority, that a "bedroom community" is what initially caused the growth of the county. We came for the same reasons that the 100 year families came...it is (or was) a beautiful place to live without junky apartments and airports and industry/office parks - or jobs. We all had jobs close by. If the county had stuck with basic services such as Sheriff and Fire and a court system, the tax burden would not be bad. Throw in a movie studio and things of that nature (that gov't has absolutely no right to be involved in) and things get iffy. The rush for the 100 year f
  2. The FAA doesn't have any money. The only way they "pay" for anything is by borrowing money and making the payments by taking money from me. So I want my racetrack now. it'll cost about 10 dollars in paint for new lines drawn on the runway. We can get "seniors 2012" to do the painting for cheap.
  3. ummm, I'm so conservative that Reagan leaned a little too left for me...but mrnn is clearly the voice of reason on this thread. so there. ( I have no kids in this fight by the way ).
  4. I didn't want the airport either. Now that it's wiped out and cursed, let's turn it into what I really want, a RACE TRACK. Ever seen Top Gear? I have a car...it might be a while before I have an airplane...I'm not a commissioner or a builder or a banker.
  5. This will drive you nuts...the banks, all banks, have security software that tells them the location where the card's info was stolen. When they input the fraudulent charge claims the software checks all the claims and notes the common place where customers used their cards - it's really simple software and works 90% of the time - and does it quickly. So while the customer service person is running you all over town filling out forms, there's a bank security guy somewhere that already knows it really is fraud and where it occurred. And will they tell you? nooooooo. There's a million reason
  6. "mrnn" has posted about a half dozen times with republican/leaning toward libertarian thoughts. We're no fool, we know you've kidnapped mrnn and stuffed him in a closet before assuming his identity. You'll never get away with this...I'm calling Gulledge.
  7. I have a question, if you really want to be fair and if this is such a big deal...why stop with the class of 2012? You have four years to prosecute a felony = so we can go back to the class of 2008 and arrest everyone that painted the street between then and this year (and yes, some of the kids arrested did nothing more than paint in the intersection and then leave). But let's not stop there, lets call our senators! Let's see the principal in front of the senate subcommittee on education answering "what did he know, and when did he know it"!
  8. uh-oh, just rechecked the math on that, 72 of the 100 "senior 2012" tags were on porous surfaces, so the actual cost for the damage is now $1.7 million. that makes it a LEVEL 51 offense. death penalty.
  9. I'm somewhat familiar with jail. It's ridiculous to think these guys need to go to jail (assuming this is all they've done, if they are on probation then they are on their own). Peer pressure is a very real thing, in order to fit in with the social group one is around, one will start to mimic the group they are in. You force these guys who are guilty of messing up our beautiful asphalt and porous rocks into a jail where the social group consist of burglars, meth addicts, and other dregs of society (- even for weekend jail -) and you will certainly change their life - just not in the way you
  10. would someone please explain how the words "class of 2012" spray painted 100 times equals $40,000 in clean up cost? I think the person doing that accounting of our tax dollars may be the bigger criminal. How about the perpetrators of this heinous crime clean it up for free and let's drop the drama. The next person that makes the holy statement along the lines of "a crime is a crime" needs to go straight to the Sheriff and confess about entering the intersection as the light turned red...that's a crime, you've done it- and you could have killed someone.
  11. I'm almost positive those are rocks.
  12. There's a few legit reasons why it wouldn't go out - a FEW. And then there's apathy.
  13. reality is that hit and runs do get solved. Cobb has an entire unit devoted to it and I think Douglas does also. I doubt seriously they are paying a bunch of cops to call victims and tell them "this ain't T.V. lady, we don't know what to do".
  14. can anyone venture a guess as to how long it would take for a refund from a mailed in return requesting a refund via direct deposit? I can already tell you it's more than two weeks.
  15. So, let me get this straight - you all get victimized first by an unknown criminal in a car, then by some lazy cop that blames the victim for his pathetic work ethic or possibly cowardess, and now the unknown criminal is still out trolling our streets and the cop is surely standing at walmart flirting with the employees on your dime. And you decide that I am the problem? interesting angle...I guess I could be at fault here...but there must be someone else that might be the cause...hmmmm. WAIT! I got it! Where was George Bush when all this happened?
  16. he was actually dui, had a revoked license from his 9 other dui's, was in violation of the parole for killing an old woman back in the 1980's, had outstanding warrants in kentucky for bank robbery and the body of his wife (that he had just murdered) was in the back seat under a blanket - so, thanks alot! since YOU didn't get a tag number the police were powerless to even look for the guy.
  17. you cannot get a tag number from video except on CSI Miami; however, you can get video good enough to assist in the prosecution of the bad guy had they put out a look-out in Cobb and Douglas counties where some real cops may have spotted and stopped him. He very likely stopped near-by when his car overheated due to front end damage - I'm betting right around powder springs (also full of cops that could have gotten the look=out from cobb 911.) If I lived in Hiram I would be on the phone to the mayor to complain (mayor appoints police chief). You can bet that if the mayor had been the victim
  18. umm, a little clarification here - I not sure how this discussion of "revenue" tickets got turned to bad cops - I never meant to imply that I was talking about bad cops - just bad traffic planning. I've had no personal experience with a bad cop - and I know quite a few, so I'm pretty sure they are rare. but also, I never said that police had to be on an emergency to violate traffic laws - I said they had to use their emergency equipment to warn other vehicles that they were doing so. otherwise, how is the deputy not endangering the other vehicles any less than the vehicle he is pursuing?
  19. I don't believe that police vehicles are exempt from any traffic laws unless their emergency equipment is activated. And I'd be willing to bet that the deputy that stops a "gore violation" himself drove through the gore without his emergency equipment activated (lights and siren) - it's usually after he gets behind the specific vehicle that he wants to stop before activating the lights and siren. Gore violations can be dangerous - but are usually just a means of revenue collection for the county. When an intersection is targeted because of a high number of "gore violations" anyone with a
  20. I work in Cobb and live in Paulding. My family of 6 came to Paulding because it was nicer than Cobb to live. It was a bedroom community. A lot of people don't understand that term but came here for the same reason none the less. If we had wanted to stay living amongst a mingling of industry and homes, we would have remained in Cobb. Now, the enlightened among us are telling us that we must spend into oblivion in order to bring industry next to our house - or else. Or else what? Or else we will be a bedroom community where people will love to come and live and play. The build-up thus
  21. I watched an eviction hearing in Cobb and learned something interesting. the new owner of the foreclosure was an investor in rental properties and had incorporated as an "LLC". LLC's have to be represented in court by an attorney, not just the property owner. the case was thrown out because the investor was representing himself and did not have an attorney there with him. Of course, I'm sure he just hired an attorney and redid the eviction proceeding - but it bought some time for the forclosed on previous owner.
  22. Our neighborhood has an older HOA...we are required to keep at least one truck parked on the front lawn.
  23. if you're using your car as a NASCAR or Formula 1 car then it's pretty important that you have nitrogen in the tires because it's dry and doesn't react to temperature changes as much as normal air. If you often are driving less than 180mph, as I sometimes do when not on I-285, it doesn't make much of a difference.
  24. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need...I think it's in the bible....oh, no wait...it was Karl Marx. I knew it was something old like that. anyway...so it's a good idea right? I mean those Marxist people know their economics so Deal ought to keep following them. Things worked out great for them.
