  1. Sorry for the delay...I got REALLY good news and have been busy doing the happy dance. It took me a minute to catch up. Really? You don't get why I'd give a warning? Have you ever had a "problem neighbor?" Nobody wants to start a neighborhood war. He has his land, we have ours. Since I am the only thing that's tripped my cameras and since I've heard no gunshots, I'd like to think he just used some bad judegment at that moment. I 'd like to think that but as one of the moms said, she's kept her kids inside (so have I) so he's no reason to shoot. Maybe he just realized having the
  2. Well, the closest road was our street or his driveway. He was pretty far away from both, more then 100 yards. What I saw was the old man IN the woods. This was just before the third shot when I was on my deck herding my children inside. The kids were shouting before the first shot and I saw them running out just as he fired the third shot. To answer the other questions...according to the five kids and adult that actually SAW him shoot the gun, he was shooting into the air, standing ON the property line that divides his yard from our neighbor's yard, who was the father who was actu
  3. I was mainly venting, letting the mama bear growl...However....There is a GA law, (it usually pertains to recordings INSIDE private property) that requires public notice of video and audio recordings on private propery. I don't have the time to look it up to quote it speficially, so I don't know if it applies to the outdoors, but I consider this as much public notice as the sign by my doorbell warning of audio and video recording on the propery, which is a legal notice according to that statute I didn't look up to quote for you.
  4. They didn't say to resort to vigilante law, I'm the one who used that term and as a figure of speech. Think about it, if a child were shot in the woods in a subdivision, the entire community would rise up. What the police actually told us is: If we own a gun, to accompany the kids while armed. They didn't tell us to shoot back, and they didn't advise us to threaten to shoot back. They said to call 911 if and when we saw him. Otherwise, try to catch the guy on camera, either actually shooting or in possession of the gun while on our land. THAT'S within my own power, to try to catc
  5. We didn't know it was him that was shooting all along...when it's happened and we've called it in, it wasn't always when kids were playing in the woods. Sometimes they play basketball in the dead end, or ride their bikes up and down the street, or jump on their own tampolines. Sometimes, they go play in the woods. They're KIDS! They play! Most of the time, it happens after school hours so we didn't know if it was a kid learning to shoot or what it exactly it was until yesterday. We also couldn't confirm it was directed at anyone in particular until yesterday. As far as confrontations wi
  6. And I don't know what happened after I went into to put my kids to bed. I don't know if the police came back to get him, or if they plan to ride by today. The police did say they will be actively patrolling the streets in and around the neighborhood in the hours of our complaints (again, there is a history here) to see if they can hear the shooter themselves. That makes me feel much better. As for the incident yesterday, I was just a witness. The parents of the five children involved are the ones who will follow up with the SO. Technically, it's not even my fight. But I do feel anxious
  7. Oh well, I apologize.....let me be clear: He wasn't pointing at the kids....but yeah, approching five small children in the woods while firing a shotgun, even into the air, IS shooting at the kids.
  8. And yes!! I'm a mama bear....but I am not the only one in this neighborhood, that's for sure. There's one woman I have literally taken notes from. Her parenting has left me in awe at moments. It takes a real gift to command a group of teenagers without once threatening or raising your voice. That mom has skills! I fully agree, but this wasn't a homeowner being innocent....and the kids WERE innocent.
  9. He was physically standing at the property marker and he was shooting into the air, not actually pointing at the kids. BUT, I'm the type that remembers freak accidents and I remember about 8 years ago, a man shot a gun into the air somewhere in Fayette County (I think) and the bullet came down a mile and half away, through the roof of a house and into the brain of a stay at home mom with three small kids. I've never forgotten that because she was my age and her kids were my age. For this reason, when ANYone shoots, we just go inside. We have plenty of people all around us who target s
  10. But we shouldn't HAVE to be like this!! We have every right to enjoy our own land. The whole reason we chose THIS spot is because of the land. I shouldn't be afraid to go out inside my fenced in back yard and play with my kids. Sometimes, he just shoots even when there AREN'T kids inside the woods. He hears the kids outside and starts shooting. Last fall, he sent the Deputies on a two hour wild goose chase through the swamp, from my house all the way out to the SCT. They didn't catch him that time, but I took video footage of the constant shooting. The first time the police responded,
  11. MY kids were on the trampoline and I was sitting next to it. When the first shot fired, I sent them inside like I do EVERY single time. The other kids were beyond the fence. There's about an acre to an acre and a half between the fence and the swamp. Our property line goes INTO the water. I personally gave the parents permission to go back there with the kids yesterday. They were looking for rocks for science class, not that the reason they were there actually matters....IT'S OUR LAND and they were exactly where they were supposed to be. The man is older, gray hair, white guy. I wi
  12. look up the call records...I don't really care if you believe or not. I'm just letting it be known that now that we know WHO, we are taking measures to get the evidence to press charges BEFORE a nightmare happens.
  13. Yes, they did. But not all of us are armed. They also said we can be own our land wherever we want, especially since it's clearly marked. We just have to make sure we have a camera rolling.
  14. And this isn't a threat...we are taking the precautions suggested by the Deputies. We were told to either go outside armed ourselves or get the guy on camera. I am a professional photographer and videographer. I got cameras out the ying yang. I have trap cams, infra red cameras, telephoto lenses (which only sees so far into the brush), and various other tools. I do not own a gun, never have, so I can't "fire back" with anything other then a flash. Apparently, when I was out of town last week, there was a lot of activity. The Deputy told us that the guy's neighbors on the other side h
  15. The police said that because he stood at the property line, technically he was on his own land, but he's in BIG trouble because we were told to either go out armed ourselves, or to set up cameras and get him on tape. It's almost a daily thing, been going on more then a year, but the guy is fast. This time, he was seen by multiple witnessess and was tracked back to his house. I already have cameras in place and all of us along the woods will have cameras lining the woods by the end of the day. I double dog dare you....we will so press charges!!!
  16. The dumb drunk ran like a little girl and left his old lady to deal with the angry mob of parents and cops. It's been going on a long time, but now we know exactly who it is, where he lives, and we are all laying in wait for him to come back...please!! One more time, buddy....I'm so ready for you!!
  17. First, a HUGE thank you to the PCSO..... Now, excuse me while I rant. While it is perfectly acceptable to use a firearm to protect your property, it is NOT acceptable to fire that shotgun at a group of small children playing on THEIR OWN property. You CANNOT walk out to the property line with that shotgun and fire at the children. Now that we know EXACTLY who it is, I'm getting my cameras in position and THIS NEIGHBORHOOD WILL PRESS CHARGES. You'd better pray I get you on camera before one of those shells finds a child or you will have some vigiliante justice to deal with!!!! An
  18. I have a few odd DVD's of a season of this or that, like the Simpsons or Fraggle Rock. My husband loves Bones so there's a season of that. But with Netflix and streaming from Hulu, there is little I am interested in owning full sets of. But there are two shows that I own sets of and spent a little time to hunt down several years ago on ebay. The complete Ducktales series (best cartoon EVER) The Monkees. Yup, the old 60's show...got it in VHS and DVD formats.
  19. I've been with metro pcs for 7 years. (customer, not employee) No contract, pay online or in store. Unlimited monthly minutes/texts/internet on my plan ($40 a month). They have plans ranging from $25 to $50 a month depending on usage needs. You do need a Metro phone, but can buy a used one in store or online and they will turn it on for a fee of about $20 (no fee if you buy it from them, either new or used). Hope this helps!
  20. 17,778 And I am so going in for lunch on Monday!!
  21. Definately look into selling on ebay. Here's a hint. When it's on "clearance" in the store, it sells as "vintage" online. Usually for double or more what you paid. It's my new thang and I am enjoying it.
  22. The Patch article didn't account for all those who's unemployment ran out (which is why it's lower then January's rate), those who are not eligible to receive unemployment, or those who did not apply. The actual number of unemployed is far, far higher.
  23. It is the same lot. I actually bought mine around the time the "scandel" made the news. (A relative of the owner who worked at the lot ran off with several people's cash down payments and never registered their vehicles with the state) I remember I had a delay with registration, a few weeks as I recall. BUT no other issues with them, even with a few late payments here and there (JUST have her call them if that happens to work out a later payment date). I just paid off my purchase within 4 years, had monthly payments I could handle, and never once had an issue. This is just my personal ex
  24. Try Auto House in Hiram. 2nd Try: Credit Acceptance (next to CVS at intersection of Hardy Pky & Bobo Rd)
  25. Good point. I guess interpretation is in the eye of the reader. Some posts are obvious jabs, some I have to re-read in my sarcastic voice, some are inside jokes that make no sense to those of us on the outside, and some are downright funny. My favorites are the one-liner's. I've enjoyed many of yours. Yet, there are some posts (not many) that feel like a personal attack and sometimes I respond, sometimes I don't. I have to feel up to arguing, which is hard to do when some people are just lashing out due to anger or disappoint with something that has nothing to do with the topic or
