So kids really do mean nothing to some people.....

I think it's okay for people to be outraged. It's a natural reaction to any type of tragedy. If I chose to do none of the things you listed, I'll still be outraged. You're not the boss of me. -
Parents charged in the murder of 10-year-old Girl
workingforaliving replied to NinaBritt's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So.......is this thread about politics? I'm thinking the real problem is that society even NEEDS to fund DFACS. Sorry boss, the fault lies with the parents that killed these kids. -

I agree. Unless I've been drinking, in which case he's "baby daddy" or "that trucking asshole." I might be kidding. But I might not be.

Since this a thread about cards, does anyone know where I can get a good price on personalized stationery? My wee-one is practicing her writing skills and keeping the postman busy!

That judge will not accept evidence that will prove a cop wrong....like a letter from the DOT that an area is not a school zone during the time the ticket for speeding in a school zone was written. (I owned the speeding, it was the school zone part that I was disputing. I NEVER speed in active school zones!) -

Yeah, but those posters seem to have some sort of personal connection to SPSU. -
Kennesaw State University and SPSU To Merge
workingforaliving replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I thought so as well. Wouldn't this just expand the course offerings at KSU? Each dept/college could still maintain their rigid admission requirements. I can't figure out how this is a bad thing.....I can't figure out how it's a good thing either. -
I admit it and I am proud of it.

She took time for each person waiting. Asked them about their day, their names, where they're from.....every.single.person. She posed for pictures, hugs, and did that Elly Mae whistle thing. -
I grew up ins urban setting and I don't find extensions in an 8 year old to be that unusual. We all come from different cultural backgrounds. I certain that I do and let my child do quite a few things some rural and conservative posters would freak out about. Hell,I think putting children on ATVs and taking them hunting is horrible....but that's a part of a rural subculture. Bottom line, where were the teachers? Surely this CHILD cried out!

I met Elly Mae at the apple Festival in Ellijay. She looks fantastic. I never would have guessed 80. -
When we cruised, we looked forward to returning to our cabin to see what animal was left for us! We loved it so much, we even bought the book!!

The last handful of school shootings haven't taken place in urban settings...... I made it through 13 years of schooling without accidentally bringing anything considered a weapon.

Teacher Hailed Hero In Nev. School Shooting
workingforaliving replied to NinaBritt's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know that PCSD is spending a lot of money to better secure some open access schools. I read it in a board report....however, that does nothing to help when the shooter is a kid. A kid.... I just can't get over that. -

We're leaving for a cruise tomorrow....................
workingforaliving replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
To to the highest desk in the back of the ship as you pull out to sea (near the water slide) and watch the big smoke stack nearly hit the bridge. The clearance has got to be a slim! And when you board and while your waiting to get off to go home, watch for dolphins in the river. -

I cruised the Fascination over Fall Break. Here is what I suggest..... Take any meds with you that you may need. They are expensive on board! Get a map of the ship first thing and study it....not all elevators go where you need them to go. Take the stairs, they aren't bad on your ship. Lanyard if you don't have pockets. Book bag for Nassau....so you can store small purchases and still enjoy walking the city. Beach bag for Half Moon to carry everything you may need off the boat...it's not easy to get back on it and grab something. SPF and after sun care. Trust me. -
I'm going to need a preview.....which specific promises were broken?
