Instead of putting the loin on the grill whole, I slice it up into individual steaks about 1 1/4 inches thick, and freeze what we don't need for the current meal. Then I grill them 4 minutes on the first side, and 5 minutes on the other side over hot charcoal. Brining beforehand makes them more tender.

The good thing about the portable is you can carry it to your mother's house to use it. The flatbed is a little more cumbersome. The flatbed would let you scan pages from a book, where the portable would only let you scan what would fit through the slot. Yikes! Whenever we get a puppy, we have a plastic owl with a bobbing head that we put on a pole out in the back yard to scare away the hawks. We haven't actually used it in a while, since we don't get a puppy very often.

There's a documentary on PBS right now about drive in movie theaters. When I was a kid, my folks would take us to the drive in almost every weekend. I saw Mary Poppins at the drive in.
