  1. Me too! That's why I go to the "I saw it on TV store" in Arbor Place Mall!
  2. Here's some help to get you started. When the guru makes the proclamation, it is new information to each of the islanders. They now know that each of the other islanders has been given the information that there is at least one person on the island with blue eyes. Also, the solution is a series of "if.. then.." constructs. With a large population of islanders, it is easy to get lost in the depths of the nested if/then statements. It's easier to solve the problem with a much smaller population. The logic is the same, but it is easier to figure out how many days until someone leaves
  3. Blue Eyes - A Logic Puzzle This little puzzle provided some interesting discussion on another list I am on. The puzzle is solvable. It may involve some algebraic formulas. The statement by the guru actually does provide information not previously known. Give it a go!
  4. I was thinking it looked like a magnolia blossom!!!! Was Sir Dixie one of the knights of the round table?
  5. News story here: Historians locate King Arthur's Round Table "Arthur: (tiring of this) What're you going to do, bleed on me?"
  6. When you go out drinking with your buddies, everyone could chip in to rent a friend to be the designated driver! (Or, you could just call a cab).
  7. Instead of putting the loin on the grill whole, I slice it up into individual steaks about 1 1/4 inches thick, and freeze what we don't need for the current meal. Then I grill them 4 minutes on the first side, and 5 minutes on the other side over hot charcoal. Brining beforehand makes them more tender.
  8. The good thing about the portable is you can carry it to your mother's house to use it. The flatbed is a little more cumbersome. The flatbed would let you scan pages from a book, where the portable would only let you scan what would fit through the slot. Sometimes you can catch flatbeds on sale for even less than the $70 Woot portable.
  9. No, but they aren't discounting the chances he will be captured.
  10. Are any of those guitars accoustic/electric? I'm kind of liking the pics of the single cutaways.
  11. Yikes! Whenever we get a puppy, we have a plastic owl with a bobbing head that we put on a pole out in the back yard to scare away the hawks. We haven't actually used it in a while, since we don't get a puppy very often.
  12. We were having a late lunch at Moe's in Douglasville, and I was in the booth facing the parking lot. We had parked just in front of the entrance doors, and the parking space next to our car was vacant. As we were eating, I saw movement in that vacant space in my peripheral vision. I looked out there to see a red-tailed hawk on the ground with something clutched in it's talons. A couple of seconds later, a crow landed a couple of feet in front of the hawk and began to make some kind of threatening gestures. It was extending it's wings out about 1/4, and the raising up on its legs. It did
  13. I love those Clausen deli pickles in the refrigerator case at the grocery store. Even better are some of the deli pickles that are served at restaurants. The Schlotzsky's on 41 just south of I-85 has a good deli pickle. Muss & Turner's gourmet deli makes their own, and they are delicious. I wanted to try my hand at making a good half sour deli pickle. Here is what I did. First of all, I tried growing my own cukes. I have never had a green thumb, and that legacy continued when my poor cukes came out mis-shaped and tiny. So, I went to Publix and bought some of what they call "
  14. Do you deliver to the 61/ridge road area? That would be about 12 miles from you.
  15. Minimum $5. Usually a lot more. A server walks from the kitchen to my table in a restaurant, and I give them 20%. A pizza delivery person travels at least 4 miles. In my view, they deserve a much bigger tip, so if I order one pizza that costs $12-$15, they get at least a $5 tip. Two pizzas, a $10 tip.

We have Comcast, too, and have been having a problem of nothing good on in the evenings.
  20. I didn't know there were any still operating around here! That's interesting to know the Starlight is still showing movies. Don't you wish there was one in Paulding?
  21. There's a documentary on PBS right now about drive in movie theaters. When I was a kid, my folks would take us to the drive in almost every weekend. I saw Mary Poppins at the drive in. I saw a lot of westerns. I was almost eaten up by mosquitoes watching Guy Williams as Sinbad the Sailor. We would take lawn chairs and a blanket, and sit next to the car to watch the movie. It got me thinking about the last time I saw a current theatrical release movie sitting in my car. I think the last one was the original Rambo movie, which was titled "First Blood", in 1982 or 83. What new relea
