  1. Here are my babies. Guapo, Ruby, and Reese. They are waiting for a treat (the only time they stand still). We lost Guapo (the chocolate lab) in February, but he is still my baby.
  2. My hubby and I want to take a drive tonight, and we like going west to Rockmart, since there is no traffic. I've read on here that people like the Steak House in Rockmart. Is it still open? We were out that way last week, and I tried calling to see their hours, and no one answered the phone. So I didn't whether it had closed.
  3. Someone I know needed to rent a motel room in town this week and was advised that everything was booked due to the filming, so yes, I can't see any downside to filming here. It's good for the local businesses.
  4. April, We use All Seasons Landscape. I'm pretty sure they do design work as well (We had trees, plants, bushes, etc., put in by them when we bought the house). They also replaced our mulch with sod a couple of years ago, and they do the weekly maintenance for my yard. Just tell them we sent you :-) www.allseasonslandscapeinc.com
  5. Our assessment increased by 20% and so did the amount of our taxes.
  6. We use Wendy from Wendy's pet sitting to take care of our dogs during the day. She has been with us for six years now. She is wonderful . I will pm you her number.
  7. I completely agree. Too many people use the ER as a primary care doctor, and that is the main problem. You should not go to the emergency room if you have the flu, or a stomach virus, or a cold, or a headache. Go to your doctor. Go to urgent care. But with a fair amount of people failing to have health insurance, their only option is to go to the emergency room. Something needs to change.
  8. someone I'm friends with on Facebook said that he was there and someone committed suicide. Very sad.
  9. I'm being lazy. Rotisserie chicken from Kroger and leftover teamed asparagus
  10. Just curious. What do you mean "suits their agenda". ? What kind of agenda? I don't know, like possibly ensuring that a. Gun toting member of the kkk gets everything he deserves? Maybe I'm a little biased because 1) this happened right before a Jewish holiday and 2) the shooter was a Neo-nazi and white supremacist and 3). I'm jewish, but I just don't get your point
  11. We have AT&T for high speed internet too
  12. We went about a year ago. Very fun. Lots of food trucks to chosise from.
  13. This whole thing is just baffling. If the plane did go down (instead of exploding mid-air) would air traffic control see the blip on their radar losing altitude? It's just a sad situation for all the families involved
  14. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a local reputable fence company. I have a fence around my yard already but it needs some work done on the chain link portion. Thanks!
  15. does anyone know how to upload a picture?
  16. I already sent Glassdogs a PM, but I just wanted to thank him publicly. He read my post about my lab, Guapo passing away, and even though he doesn't know me at all (I am certainly not a regular poster and I think I have less than 200 posts), he made this for me and left it for me at my vet's office. It was so thoughtful and kind. I love it, and will treasure it and it will remind me of my sweet boy every day. It has made my day and put a smile on my face. Thank you. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t149/valerieochs/GlassGuapo_zps2df8d43d.jpg?t=1393614774
  17. oh, see, now you have my crying again. Thanks for your thoughts. It's a shame my little man never got the courage to jump off the dock. I'm sure the water is high enough now that we probably could have convinced him to make the leap. He was a good dog (although Mr. MO tells me that I missed the bad Guapo years, when he was a lab puppy terror. lol)
  18. Thanks everyone. It's harder than I thought it would be. Even though we have two other dogs (that I love and adore) our house is strangely quiet without him. He was the goofiest, happiest, lovable, most easy going dog I have ever met. He just wanted to be loved and fed (he was a big counter surfer). I miss him so much and I wish that I knew why it happened, but I know that we did everything we could to try and save him.
  19. April, I'm still so sad. :-( We miss him so much. And poor Reece misses her boy too (Ruby, not so much, lol)
  20. Unfortunately my husband and I lost our beloved 7 year old chocolate lab last week due to bloat. We had to rush him to Cobb Emergency Hospital during last week's storm on Wednesday for emergency surgery. He made it through the surgery, but just didn't rebound, and we lost him on Thursday night/Friday morning (we ran over there at 2:00 am when they called us to tell us they thought he was going to code). We take all our dogs to East Paulding Animal Hospital and we primarily see Dr. Heather (we will also see her husband Dr. Ken if she isn't there). We called the vet's office on Thursday
  21. Unfortunately she is referring to my chocolate lab, and yes, it was due to bloat. He got sick in the middle of the storm Wednesday night, we rushed him to cobb emergency vet hospital for surgery, but he just didn't rebound from the surgery. We are heartbroken. MissSophie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. Hopefully our pups crossed the rainbow bridge together and are now wrecking havoc and having a grand ole time.
  22. He is a chocolate lab. I'm glad we got him there in time too. He's my baby.
  23. Thank you, he had to have emergency surgery for bloat. He got out of surgery around 4:30 am. Dr had to remove part of his stomach and spleen, but he is hopefully on the road to recovery. Thank goodness we had a truck that could get us there and thank goodness cobb emergency vet was open (the one in lithia springs was closed). The roads weren't fun at all, and that was before all the extra snow finished falling.
