  1. Dr. Terracina has been recommended but I need someone that will help with lost and broken teeth. I hate pain!
  2. Had great service and fairly good food at O'Charley's in Hiram tonight. Had terrible service but good food at Cracker Barrel last night. Just sayin.
  3. It was on the street entrance to the sub-division across from WalMart with several enforcement cars involved and the street was blocked. We couldn't tell what was happening but we never saw a tow truck or ambulance while we were near it. We were wondering what was happening. It was around 5:50 p.m. Saturday.
  4. We drove up 120 and saw several sheriff cars and state troopers' cars on the road across from the WalMart. Anyone know what it was about?
  5. Actually state employees.
  6. I stand "somewhat" corrected. The article in the Sunday's edition of the AJC said that the IRS will only answer "basic" questions. If there is any complexity to the issue, you are instructed to go to their web-site for help or get outside help. The article mentions they spent too much time on the phone calls in the past with over two million never getting answered. The point I was trying to make is how teachers, who are government employees, are constantly pulled in for questions about school or class issues , therefore missing their own planning time, class time, lunch and after school
  7. I just read where the IRS is not answering questions in the future due to the time it takes for them to answer the phones. How is it that another government institution, public schools can't do that? Teachers have now lost pay for the furlough days but have to be pulled out of classes, planning periods, lunch and stay after school to answer parents' phone calls and visits during their normal days of teaching.

    Wreck?

I saw the car and I think a truck was involved. It was bad.
  9. Nice dogs! They know how to have fun.
  10. I am happy with Dallas Tire for minor things. If it is beyond them, I use the Auto Repair shop on Hwy. 61 between 278 and PCHS. I have had great results with them.
  11. We should stick with what was agreed to in the beginning pertaining to the use of the breaks.
  12. There used to be teaching of responsibilities, dedication, loyalty, manners, discipline, etc but then parents go involved and then the testing took over the curriculum. Basic math, history, reading , and science were presented well with "honors" classes giving the students a chance to discuss and explore new areas.
  13. Who mentioned "testing"? But I do agree that the learning process has been tampered with too much to put up with the tests and breaks.
  14. What happened to the concern for learning? Everything seems to be based on "breaks". There is no credit given for breaks.
  15. I'm sure there is a lot of second guessing going on by the school officials about their plans today. Why have they already announced so many school closings for tomorrow but no news on Paulding?
  16. I think some details were missing from the story. I believe that there were others involved including an administrator. They were only suspended for a period of time while this guy was fired. We don't have all the details. On a personal note, it seems stupid to do this at school when everyone knows the school system can detect the usage of the computer.
  17. Big news in this week's state education is that 500 million has been put in the budget for education and "teachers raises"? If you read the facts, you will realize that the extra money will be given to each system (about three million each) and the system can do whatever they want with it. They do suggest that it helps eliminate the teachers' furlough days (that would not be a pay raise) put wireless in all the classrooms and other needs determined by the system. Georgia is in the bottom third of the U.S. on money provided for each student. If the money was used wisely, it may go furth
  18. Why is it that teachers, policemen, Congressmen, etc always get blamed for everything that happens in their job but "forecasters" or weather people never seem to have to apologize for their predictions. Weather experts are trained in their science at the university level and I can understand a mistake but why is it they act like they did nothing wrong when they totally miss on their forecast. Where were the flurries on Wed. and Thurs.? Just a thought!
  19. The Texas Roadhouse in Hiram is better then many other steak places I have been. All of them are noisy.
  20. Staelens Contruction has made a bid on some house work. Any references on the company?
  21. It is understandable that we want our kids to stay safe and secure and extreme temperatures can affect that. Extra clothing can help but it can still be uncomfortable. The buses lack the quality of a decent car so that could be an issue for the passenger and the bus itself. The schools have a difficult time getting warm and staying that way during the day. In some instances, the students will be traveling from one building to another which could be an issue. On the other concerns, the teachers will be at school tomorrow and some of them will be in rather cold conditions. Hopefully they
