It used to be that when you came to pcom and weren't automatically signed on, th screen looked much different from when you were signed on. Now they look pretty much the same, except for the member name at the upper-right. So, i came to pcom and for several tries couldn't figure out why when I clicked on the "view new content" link on the upper-right, it kept saying "no new entries" and that I couldn't post. Finally figured out that I had to sign in again, but it took a while to realize that.

I see you found it elsewhere, but for future reference, your search from profile only gives you the most recent 200 posts. That's what it says at the top of the page when you do the search. The way to get more posts is to use the advanced search (click on advanced near the top-right of any page), enter your member name into the name field and anything else, such as a date range , that can help.

Yorkville electric bill seems awfully high

Yes, that's the only one out there for Yorkville, Greystone for most of the rest of the county. If they had gas heat, they could basically pick any company competing for their area. -
GA State Law loophole permits teacher-student sex
AustinPlantation replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I can't see raising the age of consent --- it wouldn't work, however how about "A public servant cannot have sex with anyone under his influence, regardless of age." Same would apply to a senator and his page. -
Saw a joke on Leno last night about the GA Surpreme Court saying it's ok for a teacher to have sex with a student as long as the student is at least 16 and it's consensual. Here's one link to a story about it at abc news. Guess that's one issue that will come up first when the legislature meets. Haven't seen a post here about it here, so I thought I'd put it out. Strange that they still can't write laws properly in Gergia.

Marietta Press Rlease Tax incentives announced for businesses choosing Marietta 11/23/2009 The state of Georgia has announced that Marietta has been chosen for a program that will encourage new businesses to locate in the city or existing businesses to expand here. For every two or more jobs created, businesses may be eligible to receive $3,500 in employee tax credits. "This is great news because it provides an opportunity for Marietta to stand out while the country, state of Georgia and metro Atlanta are experiencing an economic downturn," city manager Bill Bruton said. Last year it was $5 per carload and ran thru December 31st, but their publicity this year is totally lacking. This press release only came out on November 16th. Here's a link to a nice video from last year. -

One thing the state could do is help fund the Paulding Resevoir. I have no idea if they have or haven't or if Richardson has done anything towards that --- bill or whatever. Does anyone know?

Just FYI: The Douglasvile CB is closed, probably due to the construction that blocked folks from getting there. -

My sister-in-law applied for a census job earlier this year. She didn't get anything this year (my son-in-law did, but it only lasted 2 weeks) She called to check today about 2010 and was told that Paulding Census workers would have to report to Dalton each day. There is/will be an office in Douglas County, but she was told that Dalton had a 14-county district which includes Paulding. There is also supposed to be something in Rome, but again she can't be assigned there. There was supposed to be a Marietta office, but she can't be assigned there either. It doesn't seem right tha

I get that on several websites. I haven't seen it here because, instead of left-clicking on a topic, I right-click and "open in new tab" instead. That way, you just close the tab and you're back in the topic list where you left off.
