  2. Tanner Farms S/D off of 101N still is without water according to my sister-in-law who lives there.
  3. So I saw in the AJC that Elrod Auction in Douglasville was auctioning off the cars, etc. at a local D'ville car dealership in early October and went to their inter.net address to see and found their webpage had been hacked --- some Chinese/Japanese and some obscene text was in it's place. Sent Elrod an e-mail and they replied that it has happened a few times recently. Did find one of their linked pages that was still good using google. Wonder why they would want to hack such a local site?

  8. Question: Do water filters in refrigerator and pet water feeders do enough? Or, do we still have to boil that water?

  11. Any chance D'ville is doing the same thing up here in Paulding w/D'ville addresses, since Dallas Nebo Rd is/was shut for a while? I guess ""Neither Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor gloom of night" etc. doesn't include road closures or having to find road bypasses. Thank you for all that you do Rain!!!
  12. Just saw Oxendine on the news: The good news is that because it's from rain and not flooding, it's covered by insurance. Flood damage needs a separate policy.
  13. What improvements are they talking about --- road widening??? From Sept. 15th AJC: Through the Atlanta Regional Commission, Paulding County will receive $2 million in federal stimulus funding for an intersection improvement project. Originally, the project on Ga. 61 at Ridge Road/Mulberry Rock Road was to have been constructed by the Georgia Department of Transportation. Now financially strapped, GDOT also had planned to pay for the right-of-way acquisition on the condition that Paulding fund the project's design, according to Paulding Department of Transportation Director Scott
  14. Ate at The Mizu last night, by the Publix on 61 & Ridge Rd. I had the Thai Tom Yum Soup with shrimp, spicy and good and the Pad See U with chicken, not spicy, with rice noodles, eggs, broccoli. Wonderfull. Daughter had sushi, son-in-law had hibachi (not done at table) and wife had egg foo young. Portions were quite large. All enjoyed. Give it a try. I wonder how many folks will travel that far for that type of food?
  15. I hope he moves it back to the end of the monologue --- I usually stop watching after headines. I hope he doesn't start doing what Letterman has done in always annouuncing a Top10 List, but not always doing one.
  16. If you haven't filed before, you can only file between Jan 1 & Mar 31, so you can't do anything about this year. And even though the state dropped it's portion of the Homestead Exemption, the smaller county homestead exemption is still in place.
  17. I selected Hiram, because I'm close to the city limits and all it seemed to do was change my page header to "Hiram Hawk".
  18. Saw the Community Portals section on the Fastread Page. Included are Dallas, Hiram, Braswell, West Cobb, Yorkville and a couple more. What about us folks in South Paulding with a Douglasville address? We're not in New GA, which is in the list. And are they in use yet?
  19. There used to be an hourly shuttle between the airport by the Marriot on Windy Hill in Marietta, where you could park untill you got back, but I can't find it amymore. I did find atlantashuttle.net which says they have shuttles and door-to-door service to Galleria, Perimeter Center, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Windy Hill, Cumberland, Marietta, Dobbins Airforce Base, East Cobb, Smyrna, Vinings, Kennesaw, Woodstock. They don't list prices or drop-off locations.
  20. Did you go down to the Gov't building and file the form for the senior exemption? We did last year and it went down quite a bit. I believe it's too late for this year, so file in Jan. if you didn't.
  21. Paper said they are using stimulus funds to hire a bunch more.
  22. I was on Long Island, about 50 miles away, watching it on TV. I had also been in the basement of the WTC a few days before the garage was blown up --- that was years before this and the first attempt to bring it down.
  23. The cheap car insurance one, where she says the insurance company was happy to take her back even though she had previously stopped paying for the insurance and those title loan ones. Also the one where a major auto insurance company tout their option where rates won't increase if you have an accident --- who do you think is paying for that --- the rest of us --- sure, maybe their motto shoud be "Drive recklessly, it won't cost you a cent!"
  24. That's a repeat from last week --- as I recall, she has 4 refrigirators about the house. The new episode at 10 was much worse. Those poor cats.
