  1. sleeting hard on waters road. Deck is covered and so is roof.
  2. If the roads are undriveable, I don't see how you could get to work anyway, whether they close or not. Remember the lady that went out in the storms when it flooded and drowned on her way home from work at Sams club. : ( I'll never forget that 9/11 call, and, I'll never drive out for work because they are too crummy to close and put their employees lives at risk.
  3. Supposed to start after 10 pm
  4. Its sleeting hard in Bowdan GA as well.
  5. Its sleeting hard in Bowdan GA as well.
  6. Please, if you know of any seniors, just go by and check on them....whether you think they need it or not. Some will not ask for help, or leave their homes, for fear that they need to stay and Protect their homes, in case of ice and freezing. My mother for one, lives alone in another state where the weather is striking. I could not get her to let me come get her because she is afraid her pipes will freeze. Thankfully, I have neighbors there that will check on her. People over here are not quite as giving and helpful, so go the extra mile if you know of someone that may be alone.
  7. There is a 100% chance of Ice, so, they are taking that into consideration. Please don't laugh, as if you have kids and a job, you know how hard it is to sit and wonder what you are going to do on Monday. Some of you have nothing to do but sit on here and watch post. Some of you don't even send your kids to school and don't have to worry about responsibility in the real world. Yet, you take your goverment checks when they come, while I go out and work, then you whine when the counties make a decision to close something, as if it will effect you. ha.
  8. I kinda know what to expect. If anyone remembers, there was an Ice storm right here in Hiram back around 2001. I am not sure if that is the exact year, but, my child was little. It wasn't snow, it was ice, and our power went out. The trees were all breaking and you could hear explosions all day and night from the transformers blowing through the city. It was a real mess! I think that the most important thing is to be prepared. Know you may not have heat, and, be prepared to stay warm, whether its from a Kerosine heater or your fireplace. Be careful with your gas, and, buy plenty of water, Mi
  9. school has already reported to the kiddos that if they miss monday, they will be attending school the rest of the year until almost 4 pm. Boy, they sure know how to get the kids excited around here about snow. I don't understand why they can't just go at the end of the year a couple of extra days. I mean GEEZ LOUISE. I can't understand Georgia. And, they wonder why the test scores are so low. Most schools get out at 2:35, elementary, Middle and High school. Whats up with this going till 4 pm around here? Anyway, Looking forward to a snow, but, no Ice...
  10. It's funny how the media can get alot of attention on a certain matter and by the next day, they have had reports of the exact same thing. Just like all these murders they report. there were always pedophiles and child abducters. It's just we didn't hear about it as much back in the day. NOW, we hear about EVERYTHING because CNN and other news media are competing to get the biggest story. If you read you will find that its not unusual for birds to die. Just because they had one big story, now everytime it happens, there will be a story on it and it will be reported.
  11. Don't take it wrong, but, you said she has a boyfriend? Do you think he is a bad influence on her and maybe she is losing interest in things that matter? Just wondering. My daughter will be finishing high school before she lets a boy ruin her years at home. She can't wait for her sweet 16!
  12. why do Georgia schools NOT take our childrens' lives serious like other states? I heard Alabama was closing schools early. People laugh, but, this is WHY they do it. It upsets me to hear that our bus drivers had to drive our children home in these kinds of conditions. They are not trained and the buses are not equipped for icy highways and roads like they are up north. That is the reason why schools down South close early. Become educated on that! The school officials need to be a little more careful. There could of been a terrible wreck. I hope they don't chance it in the morning.
  13. No but thanks to you sending your child to school with a high fever, I'm sure there will soon be an outbreak of sicknesses soon in the households around the area. It's people like you that make the rest of our children miss school.
  14. When it falls on a SUNDAY, which is so close to Saturday, it is best just to go ahead and celebrate it on Saturday. It has nothing to do with a SUGAR HANGOVER, but everything to do with it just being better for us all to celebrate it on a Saturday. We went out of state for Halloween and had a blast celebrating it on Saturday, where EVERYONE was out and about. I heard Georgia didn't have such a good year and people were not out like usual. But, oh well, they did it ON halloween so thats all that matters, right? They had to prove a point. hah
  15. not a crock of crap for people who don't have to work I guess but when its this close to Saturday, it is better to just celebrate it then.
  16. Most states are celebrating it on Saturday Oct, 30th, since Sunday is a school night. Of course, Georgia always has to ruin it for the kids.
  17. Gah! Yes, the FL means Footloose. I'm surprised more people aren't posting about this! How exciting to see all the drama in this little town.
  18. I rode by today and saw Julianne down on the skreet. I even took a picture. I'm not certain it was her, but, I am pretty sure. Also, I saw the main lead guy. He had on a hoodie but was going to the bathroom obviously. I was driving when I saw him. He looked straight at me.
  19. Yes and she also taught me to say excuse me and be curtious, something people who have moved here WERE NOT taught to do! I have this motto I live by, "they be nice to me, I will be nice to them." ; ) Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I think its cool footloose is being filmed here. It's a perfect town for it!
  20. I don't think she's that funny. Does anyone know if they need extras for footloose filming in Hiram tomorrow or later today? If this was my hometown everyone would be very excited. Looks like nothing out of the norm here on p.com
  21. Went by and saw the filming of this movie today. I think they hit the nail on the head when they chose this town, since it portrays a "backwoods" town. Have you been to the stores in Hiram lately? When we first moved here, the town was ok. Had a lot of normal looking country folks. But now, I don't know what you would call these people. Its not like going to a country town. People are either "extreemly back woods," or not even from America. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, just sayin' they did a good job with finding the right town!
  22. I would not doubt this one bit. There are good teens and bad ones! Especially the 19 and twenty year olds who sit around on their fat b . tt s all day and are too lazy to get out and work! Sad about the kids tho. I hope they recover well!
  23. trees down near area where hiram hickory house used to be also.
  24. I'm surprised more people haven't posted about this. Looked like a tornado through there. Noticed Panter school road or Laird road tree across road and was closed too. Wonder if was a small tornado. Didn't look like straight line winds. Lots of trees broken over if you look around that area in peoples yards too. Funny thing, It was like in one area which makes me believe it might have been a small tornado touch down.
