Was reading - for like an hour (JK) all the posting on the Glenn Richardson saga. I refused to comment in that forum, but WOW was it long. If everyone got in there at the same time, they'll be gone for a loooooonng time. -
I tried the link that was posted, but it is in a Password required forum? So, does anyone want to fill in the gaps for the rest of us?

This past weekend I made homemade soup from a recipe that follows the "zuppa toscana" at Olive Garden (basically potato soup with italian sausage in it). It was yummy! So right though - cooler weather is all about the soups and stews to warm us up!

A carpool buddy of mine that had only lived here the last couple of years called his wife on the way home and said "I've just turned onto Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy" ... I said "you mean just turned onto 278? These neweer street names that go with the old # system really make it confusing for us long-time residents. lol

Where does 61 go thru Hiram? It's north/south through Cartersville, Dallas, Villa Rica? Curious.. and for clarification so if anyone needs to avoid that area.

The plan was to be covered - but the lower park was too wet, so we had to move to the rodeo arena. We'll be sure that is "covered" for the planning next year... not being a band and all, not sure I would have thought of that. Hopefully we'll all be back next year - and maybe let everyone know when booking that you have to be covered? It was awesome meeting you guys and I look forward to coming out to hear you play somewhere local soon. We really enjoyed the show!!!!!

Paulding County Public Safety Appreciation and Family Festival
mevans_70 replied to Dreamwriter's topic in RECENT TOPICS
There are goody bags too for the first 500 vehicles/families that arrive. Trust me.. I helped stuff them today! Hope to see everyone there! I know there's a lot of fall festivals scheduled at schools - mainly early in the day, so save some room for food and come by the Appreciation Day Event too. This is our chance to say thanks to everyone for all the hard work they put in daily..... and especially after the extra hard work during the flood. -
Do y'all think they will still have the festival tomorrow
mevans_70 replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Public Safety Appreciation is still on tomorrow too. We moved up to the arena area at Paulding Meadows, but not cancelling. There's a lot going on this weekend. We'll be there from 12-6 - so take a chance and come by for a while. -
Paulding County Public Safety Appreciation and Family Festival

Free admission. This is so the public can enjoy the festivities. We're supposed to have fire/ambulance/police vehicles on display for everyone to get up close - and personally thank the Public Safety teams. Also, there will be food and activities available. Those vendors will of course charge for their items. Lunch/dinner available - I know for sure there's BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. There is scheduled to be 8-9 jumpies for the kids. There should be a full page ad in the Dallas New Era too, if you want to check it out. -

So true, Maybe Paulding Meadows will be the 30% that gets missed. As they say in showbiz - the Show Must Go On! We're working hard to finalize everything and hope everyong will try to make it out. Don't forget Subby's band is closing out the show. The event is from 12-6. -
Law Enforcement Officers, Families, and Friends

Thanks for that thought. You're right. No big conspiracy theory here. We felt it was time to participate in a very well-deserved event and looked for a solution that the county could get involved and have fun for everyone. Certainly with the lower pay and long hours, our Public Safety teams deserve some time for fun and for the citizens to have an open (free admission) place to come out and show support. I'm sure a few people who may have issues with the GOP won't come, but most well-rounded, good-natured citizens can see the value in this. UnionMom - to get your thread back on trac -

Paulding Meadows is North on 61 just a couple of miles from the square in Dallas. There are signs. You turn off to the left to enter the park. Not sure about the requirment for being an officer, but it is not limited to Paulding. -

I look forward to meeeting you! I'll be there early helping everyone set up. Everyone pray for good weather. We need the park to finish drying out. -
Is this for Paulding Meadows Art's & Crafts festival? That was on 9/12 and 9/13. Do they hold 2 events? A friend went by the park yesterday and said that some of the drive by the creek may have been washed out.

Paulding County Public Safety Appreciation and Family Festival
mevans_70 replied to Dreamwriter's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm new to posting.. not sure of all the rules, but thanks for those words. The truth really is simple. All other counties in metro Atlanta have an appreciation day for their Public Safety Personnel - and have for years. Paulding emergency workers make less than a lot of those other counties - and if we as a county can come together one day a year - show up and show support and say thank you - then it's the least we can do. That's really what this is about. Any fundraising done there at the event is really done by local organizations, churches, etc that rent a booth and choose to sel -
No Problem. I tried to get back to you quickly. I believe this solves the issue in the other posts of calling out recognition for Water Dept, DOT, etc. We will have a great time at the Public Safety Appreciation on 10-10 and I think everyone in the county will be able to just walk by and say "thanks" to all groups involved. Feel free to PM me if you or others want to get involved further - or if you want to pull a booth together for the event.

Sorry to see the original post thread had to be killed. This is for non-extremists only In an attempt to clear up any confusion, the Public Safety appreciation event really has been in the works for a few months now. We felt it was time that PC have an event to recognize Public Safety personnel. TMost counties in the metro area have done this for years, but not Paulding. We have lower-paid and even no-paid (volunteer) workers in Public Safety here. None of us planning the event - or anyone here on pcom - could have expected a flood that is estimated to occur once every 5

Hi Lady Raider! I'm on the committee and have already posted that I'd check with everyone and see what options we are and post back asap. I think someone posted earlier that it may be a week or two before those that are not in Public Safety (water, power, etc) are available or working a "back to normal" schedule. October 10th is planned. Public Safety Appreciation is in place for that day.... booths have been rented, stage is being brought in, entertainmet is lined up, 10 or so blow-up jumpies for the kids to play in, etc etc etc. I will be at various booths and running/volunteer
-
Good idea Pubby. Since the event isn't until 10/10, maybe things will dry up a bit, but I'll see the committee tonight and will throw that idea out there. I already suggested that we look at adding the other groups that have assisted with the flood - per some posts in this thread, and of course we have time to contact the proper officials to try and pull that off. I'll send an update on it as soon as we meet. Hopefully we can incorporate it all.

Greystone is actually one of the sponsors. There is plenty to be done to help. We'll need volunteers to help set up, or be a runner during the day. There are booth rentals available for organizations that may want to participate or do something extra to help out. I'll confirm with the organizers about the suggestion to get water/power/cable out in some fashion due to the floods and how the timing of this event is so close to the recovery efforts from the flood. I'll PM you specifically with more info. If anyone else wants more info, you can also PM me. Hope everyone can come

I'm excited to participate in an event that fits the comments and suggestions of this post. Most metro counties already have a day each year set aside to support and recognize Public Safety. Paulding County hasn't until now. This is going to be awesome. Paulding County Public Safety Appreciation and Family Festival Let's say "Thank You" to our Paulding men and women of Public Safety. Where: Paulding Meadows Park When: Saturday, October 10 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Charge: Free Admission There will be food booths, entertainment, children's activities, and more.

I have a co-worker trying to make it to Atlanta from Birmingham for a meeting tomorrow. I had told him 166, but called back to say 92 at Fairburn Rd - to Riverside - was the only option I know of. Does anyone know of other options?

Unless something changed since around 5:30, Powder Springs/Dalla (Richard D Sailors Pkwy) had closures - posted at Cobb DOT site. A co-worker was trying to get home off of EW connector and was turned away. Powder Springs Dallas @ Old Lost Mountain (still flooded AM 9/22/09) Powder Springs Rd @ Forest Hill Road (bridge)

My sis is in Kennesaw too. Any updates lately... need a few routes for all of our friends and loved ones coming from there. Sis has to make it to Cochran Ridge Rd, but really concerned about how to get to Paulding for now. URGENT.. She's stuck on 41 going toward Acworth. Around Jim Owens they turned N-Bound traffic back South. Of course on 41 she can't come back to Barrett. Any options we know of that are open? This is at3:55 pm
