Very good questions and thought provoking ideas for us to consider - from you and LPPT. There will be several opportunities to see the candidates in an open forum and during public appearances. I again invite you all to come to the Paulding GOP meeting on Saturday, May 15th at 9am (come early for snacks if you'd like). All commission candidates have been invited to speak that day. June 19th there will be a meet & greet at White Oak Park. The Republican Party hosted one of these a few years ago. I wasn't aware of that one, but I heard it was fun and informal way to spend time getting

If I were any of the candidates, I wouldn't come into this shark tank! lol. Perhaps you can call her and get your information and questions answered. Then, like Blazing Saddles, you may want to provide a brief summary.

Thanks! I have been on and off of here since the great flood. You are right, it appears the "bad apples" are a select few. And yes, I can sense an agenda or greater calling for the purpose of their posts. I only hope the innocent readership that really don't engage in posting here will take this to heart. They should not let the few comments that can get a little nasty on here discourage finding the truth for themselves. As mentioned, I know a little about all of these candidates. If you don't investigate for yourself, you may not find out who the best candidate is. I've seen

Throwing "power" around to those who are in positions under you isn't a real attractive feature either. It takes more to be a leader than just making people/roaches scurry. I recommend everyone look into each candidate, what they've done in their previous lives (not just at one BOC meeting challenging the Chairman) - for ALL Candidates. See what those that worked with them in previous roles thought of them. I've heard various opinions from normal folks for all of these candidates - and have some of my own personal experiences with each of them. I'll use that to help make a decision,

The county administrator was Pat Crook. Beverly's role other than admin assistant to the commissioners was County Clerk - that is to take MINUTES at the meetings. Beverly was not the county manager. Several posts on here suggests things about the candidate that are not proven or backed up with facts. All voters should beware of those with skewed views that are posted and search out the candidates to get their answers. I know Beverly uses facebook, and her number is available for those that want to ask her directly about any questions they may have. I assume other candidates may do th

Paulding: The race is on for DA, State Senate and GA House
mevans_70 replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Hi Madea, I'm not sure how many opportunities Daniel missed, but I know he definitely missed 1 day. It was preapproved by the Speaker of the House. There was a necessity for his attending a session at the bank he works at due to the FDIC examination occuring that day. I am not in Daniel's district, so this doesn't really benefit me to share. I just wanted to respond for you. I know Daniel posted his phone number above, and he will be happy to talk to any citizens in the county to answer questions specifically. Feel free to call him if you'd like more information. -
County Woes, Candidates, & Citizens Responsibilities

So herein lies our problem, as mentioned in all the above posts. No money to run, can't afford the paycut from your normal line of work if you do run. Maybe some older/semi-retired candidates would be good! Good, dedicated people probably can't afford to run. We get what we get by the ones the choose to qualify. I suppose there is no good answer, but maybe that we hold the ones that do run accountable to us, the voters. We demand responses and respect. Prayers to the candidates and to the voters as we decipher through the options we do have. -
I posted this info in the "Theres No Money .... WOW" Topic just now, but thought it was something that could use it's own topic. To tie together the BOE and the Commissioner meetings - the lack of funding, and the financial crisis. It's a good time to realize how very important our choices are during the elections. I think I'm like most citizens. Only a handful - some that I see on here - actually take the time to really learn and make an educated decision when it comes to local offices. I'm guilty - until this year. I hope we can encourage all of our friends and neighbors to take th

I think what we deserve. We didn't ask, and we have little choice as to what we pay. I am 40 this year, and until last year I had NO clue how much we should care and learn about the people running for office in the county. I always cared about Senator, Congressman, Governor, & President. But the local Board of Education members control 70% of the taxes the county receives, and the Commissioners control the rest. The Board of Education candidates that put their name in the hat are UNOPPOSED! We have no choice. That is our fault too for not running ourselves or encouraging peopl

That stinks! GA Classic Rides only does an annual show? I had been to downtown Dallas in the evening before, but thought that was once a month. So 9-3 may turn out okay as there is going to be a break in the rain for a while.
-
Is the car show tomorrow in Dallas? If so, is this the normal one that starts late afternoon and goes until dark? I guess the weather may impact that if so.

Great ! Gotta go get some pine straw for the tomatoes. They are very nice people. Tracy is a great guy and his family is very sweet.
-
Awesome. I know in your line of work things can get extremely hectic. She'll be glad to hear it.
-
Were they behind schedule? I was tentatively on schedule for yesterday.

We have some tickets available to purchase at Buddy's convenient store. That's across the street from McDonald's on 61S (and from Food Lion).

Friday is HAPPENING! Beverly Cochran's Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for Post 2 Commission Seat is at White Oak Park Friday evening. Doors open at 6:30 and Dinner starts at 7:00. Tickets are available at the door, but cheaper if you buy early, so PM me. Joe Turner had some info posted this week about his events - including this dinner. Joe's a GREAT entertainer, and I can't wait to see him again. It's my birthday! The big 40!!!! And, if nothing else, we survived another Tax Day. Hope to see ya'll there.

Atlanta Magician Turner - Upcoming Public Shows!
mevans_70 replied to turnermagic's topic in Business NEWS
Looking forward to seeing you at the Spaghetti Dinner Joe! I am hoping to bring my 9 yr old nephew too, as he is very interested in magic. Glad you'll be there with us and Beverly! Also will be visiting the spring fling part of the day. -
I know it's been warm this week. I checked the temp in the pool tonight and it was up to 75. Like I mentioned the other night in my post, it was 68 degrees on Saturday morning. I added the virtual solar cover (tropical fish) on Sunday night. The fish lasts for 2 months. I'd expect to see how it impacts the temperature in the pool after Thursday's rain and the more moderate temperatures. I'll keep you guys posted.
-
They had a one month fish and a two month one. I think the one month one was around $20 give or take a few $'s. I bought the two month one. I don't have the receipt here, but I believe it was around $32.
-
I sure will. Like I said, the team at Brown's hasn't "sold" me anything yet that they dont' feel actually works in their own pools at their homes. I checked the temp today at the pool and will monitor it this week.
-
It's not a real fish. It's plastic with a chemical inside. You pull the safety plug when you put it in your pool and the chemical is released into your pool. It acts like a solar cover, helping to reduce water evaporation and loss of daytime heating. I was told it'll warm the pool by about 10 degrees. See my post just above yours - about Brown's Pools.
-
Go to Brown's Pools on 92. Lee - a sales associate there - told me last year if I put it in the pool in April I could probably open early.....and use one in late summer to extend the season in September. These people are great! They have never "sold" me anything. I went and asked a lot of questions about a salt pool. He knew my rough budget and advised against it. I rented a ladder to access the pool when they installed it. They give you a store credit when you return it. I was going to buy a cover and "winterize" the pool - money for them in October/November....but they advised against

Got it cleaned out and summer chemicals added today. I just had the pool installed last summer - it's above ground. Getting a deck built later this week and then I'm officially open too! I am trying out one of those little tropical fish to warm it up. I've been told it'll add up to 10 degress to the temp. The thermometer floating around top today said 72, so I think by the weekend I'll be ready. YAH!

I had started a post just ahead of this one to see if anyone knew what happened. Praise God for His Grace and watching over your daughter and the baby! I knew when I saw life flight at Food Lion that it was bad. We'll keep praying for everyone's recovery. Were the other people okay?

I was going to New Hope from New Georgia and saw the vehicles at 61 and Dallas Nebo. When I made it through, there was life flight ready with other emergency vehicles at the Food Lion parking lot. Anyone have details? Regardless, Prayers said for all involved.
