I guess he didn't really say anything that we didn't already know. All parents want their children to have a better life than they have had and I just don't see it happening. It is very disheartening. Sometimes I feel as if we have our own dictators here in America, the greedy, filthy rich.

I don't think the OP is saying no discipline for her child at school, she is just afraid that this affect how her child feels about writing assignments in the future. I know my son loved to read in first grade until his teacher told him to slow down when he was reading out loud because he was too fast for the rest of the class to keep up. Ever since he has hated to read. I would think there would be a better way to handle the behavior in kindergarten, something not related to anything academic.
