  1. I remember when I was very little we took a trip down to Milledgeville or somewhere like that, and we visited a cemetery that held the graves of slaves. I remember being so bothered yet so fascinated by it. I'm dying to take a trip somewhere to visit museums or old plantation houses, anything like that. I know there are plenty fairly close by. I just have to talk my husband into it.
  2. I've been reading about this stuff for years, with an open mind. I have a pretty solid understanding of the mindset of that time in history.
  3. Seriously? I'm agnostic. I don't do those things becuse they're wrong. Not because i'm hoping for a glorious afterlife. Now you're just being ridiculous.
  4. Meh. I would confidently wager that 99.9% of people who oppose gay marrige do so for religious reasons. And I do study history, Mostly the civil war era, slavery, civil rights and such. I find it all fascinating although sad. I'm of the opinion that ANY religion has no place in government. At all. Zip. Nada.
  5. It's sad that religious groups would. WWJD? And it shouldn't matter. Why was gay marrige ever illegal in the first place? Because of religious reasons, of course. Some people are ok with mixing God and government, as long as it's the religion they subscribe to. Frankly, that scares me.
  6. I thought it was interesting that out of the people on my friends list who are members of the support page, only one of them actually lives in Paulding. Go figure.
  7. That would be a lot more exciting than a Dollar General. Does Paulding really need another Dollar General??
  8. I started making my own salad dressings about a year ago and haven't bought a bottle since.I have found lots of good recipes on Pinterest. Thanks for sharing BB!
  9. Skedaddle. Growing up my mom referred to jeans as dungarees. My brother, sister and I thought that was the most hilarious word.
  10. Common sense tells me to look at a person's consistent behavior (past and present) when deciding whether or not he or she is a rational, law abiding person. It doesn't look good for old Georgie. How in the world anyone can honestly not question the events leading up to Trayvon Martin's death after all of what has happened since George Zimmerman has been found not guilty, is beyond me. Are you thinking with your brain or are you thinking with an agenda? Because you definitely can't do both.
  11. There is a difference in opposing and disrespecting. Spelling the presidents name with a 0 instead of an O or refering to the first lady as Moochelle is disrespectful, not to mention childish and petty. Thats just a few examples. Anyone who is being honest with themselves know this persident has taken quite a beating, often unfairly by those who oppose him. I was taught to respct the office of the president reguardless of wether or not I agree with him/her. I teach my children the same.
  12. If anything makes our country look weak to others, I would say it's the hatred and disrespect that some Americans have for our president.
  13. Thanks. I hope she gets to go too, as much as it scares the crap out of me.
  14. My 17 year old daughter has a trip planned and paid for to London & Paris in June. It is through EF educational tours. I fear that it might get cancelled, and then again I fear it won't get cancelled. it's such a wonderful opportunity for her. Nobody in my whole family has ever been out of the country before. At least not before they came here from another country. Terrorists are cowards, psychologically damaged cowards. Eff them all.
  15. I still remember when Zaxby's used to be good.
  16. My husband got it last Wednesday and then my 4 year old caught it from him. My 4 year old has been home all week and is finally feeling better today. It's been just terrible. My Dr. talked me into getting a flu shot during my physical a few months ago. It was the first one I had ever gotten. We will be getting a flu shot in our family from now on. I'm still good to go, no sickness. Hope you feel better soon!
  17. Well gee, I wonder what made them come to their senses? I'm sure their Isis husbands will see them to the nearest Greyhound station to make sure they get on their way safely.
  18. I imagine if the internet were alive and well back in the 50's, these types of conversations would have happened. Only not about Muslims.
  19. He had just won the commissioners Public Safety Award for his work with crimes against children back in September. Good man. what a tragedy. http://patch.com/georgia/dallas-hiram/corporal-sam-driskell-awarded-commissioners-public-safety-award-0
  20. I use a little brown sugar, a few splashes of franks hot sauce and lots of butter and bacon grease to cook turnip and collard greens.
