  1. I think I love you. Very well said. It's a scary slippery slope.
  2. Wow! I remember when his heart transplant story was in the news. What a waste.
  3. I did entertain it, hence the headache. I always read your links, Mrs. Howard. I typically disagree with them, but not always.
  4. It's an op-ed from a right wing blog website. I'll save you the trouble. I didn't get a virus but I did get a headache from all the eye rolling.
  5. Just as there has never been a need for a white entertainment television, a white Miss America pageant, a white history month, I wouldn't see a need for a white first lady to say that, much less a need for a white girls rock event. Fact is, there are a lot more at risk black youth than white youth. A lot more black girls without dads than white girls without dads. People here talk about how the black community needs to step up and take better of themselves, take control of their communities, and speak out against violence against one another. Here you have a good example of black people coming
  6. I completely disagree with you. I can only assume if we were to have a Latino first lady she would at some point make her presence known at a gathering celebrating Hispanics. I do not see this as favoring one race over another. I see her representing her race in a positive, inspiring way.
  7. I doubt rational people are offended or outraged by this. God forbid the first lady try to empower young black girls. She really should be ashamed of herself. (Sarcasm)
  8. There's nothing worse than a racist baby.
  9. I wanted to see this when it came out in theaters. I think I'll force my 17 year old to watch it with me. You know, quality mother daughter time.
  10. We smoked a Boston butt last night for pulled pork. We also smoked baked beans, and I made smoked gouda cheese grits. It was a smoky meal and oh so good. Tonight we're going to have barbecue sandwiches with the leftovers, along with the leftover grits and beans. I also froze a little bit of the bbq to make BBQ pizza later in the week. 3 meals out of a $7 Boston butt. Can't beat that!
  11. Certainly it's no secret that slave owners fornicated with slaves. I don't see the point of this thread.
  12. I know that's not what you were saying and I don't agree with what happend to that woman. I just know If I were gay I would be mad as hell about the passage of bills like this. It's nothing more than a giant middle finger to the gay community. And no, discrimination will not end over night, not as long as we keep making laws saying it's ok.
  13. Thank God for people who stand up for their rights. I can't help but think how many people thought the same thing about Martin Luther King jr. He's just a militant black, hell bent on causing trouble.
  14. I guess it's just a matter of perspective because from where I'm sitting it seems conservatives are always outraged.
  15. I find the whole "label" argument to be absolutely ridiculous. Sometimes kids need a label in order to fix what's going on with them. Many times, without this "label" kids go on to inherit a whole different type of label from their peers and teachers. One that is much worse than just a medical diagnosis. Kudos to the parents who are less worried about a label and more worried about their kids well being. Good luck!
  16. Religious freedom? I'm pretty sure that already exists in the good old US of A. I feel like they should call it what it really is, the freedom to be a bigot bill.
  17. Everytime I hear the term "handsome woman", I think of a manly woman. I can't help it. Just a few days ago I told my husband I would be much obliged if he would go to the grocery store for me. And he did. I think he digs the old fashioned talk.
  18. Why subtract things from the bill to begin with? What's the purpose? Just to let all us commonfolk know that they ultimately have the upper hand? It is a victory for Georgia and it should have happened a long time ago. It's a shame politicans get to decide who is deserving of life changing medicine. Anyway, I'm glad that some people who need help will finally get it. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
  19. The crossroads Kroger has a mini Babies R' Us. Not literally, but they are well stocked with baby items. from nursing to potty training they've got you covered. Lots of toys too, which is why I stop there before I pick up my son from preschool instead of after. Does that mean its a family store? Honestly, the best part about shopping at Kroger is Kroger radio. Every time I'm in there a John Denver song comes on. Today I heard a song I haven't heard in years! Atlanta radio could learn a thing or two.
  20. I believe it's the media playing the race card when they make headlines pointing out the race of the person killed. For god sakes, this isn't political. I think it's disgusting when the media does this. Nobody benefits from it, nobody. The media is doing this! Not the right, not the left. We are all falling for it and pointing fingers at each other, instead of the source. I know they would never have a headline stating that a white guy had been killed by police. they would just say that a man was shot. I saw a headline from channel 2 on Facebook yesterday which simply stated that an unarmed bl
  21. If only Al Gore had said nothing about climate change. Would it still be a political issue if he hadn't? I'm just glad he invented the internet so we can debate it.
  22. Marley. She turned 1 in February. She's a bit of a handful, but we love her. The happiest dog I've ever met. In fact, that's her middle name, Happy.
