  1. Did you do an update to it?
  2. You might call Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna and ask. I know they have counselors in various areas, not just in Smyrna. And if they don't, they can still give you names of someone in Paulding. My nephew is a counselor at Ridgeview and his wife works somewhere around Woodstock. There used to be one in the Henderson House but I think they have since moved. I just can't remember the name of the group. I went twice. They had counselors for adults and children operating out of the same office, different days. I'm sure someone on here can point you in a better direction but those
  3. My husband loves shopping at Jared, too. He would never think to buy me colored gemstones, though. He knows I love diamonds.
  4. Even patients in a coma can HEAR you and may show some response. But that response could be to any stimuli, not just a loved ones voice. You should never talk about the odds of recovery around a coma patient, particularly if the odds are zero. When my father in law was dying, we were instructed to talk to him and let him know it was OK to leave (there was no doubt, it was just a matter of how many more minutes he had left). He kept hanging on. One of his sisters that he was particularly close to was on her way to Atlanta from Thomasville. About twenty minutes after she arrived and s
  5. When my mom was lying in the hospital, in a coma with no possibility of waking up, we had a family meeting to decide whether or not to just let her go peacefully or to prolong her life by putting her on life support. It was me, my sister, my brother and one of my nephews (he was particularly close to my mom so we wanted him to have input in the decision). My nephew was the lone holdout on letting her go peacefully. He just simply wasn't ready to let her go. The doctors talked to all of us and told us that the odds of her coming out of the coma were virtually nil. It was a painful decision
  6. I love that!! Although my birthstone is not a garnet, that really is my favorite stone.
  7. We LOVE it here. Don't ever want to go back to Powder Springs. Seriously. We're done up there. Plenty to do. Lots of parks. Lots of water (even if you don't like salt water, there's still plenty of water around here). Fishing. Festivals in town almost every week from March until year end. And Pensacola is about 20 minutes west and they have tons of stuff to offer.
  8. Off topic but when are you moving down here?
  9. I refuse to waste any more of my time on this drivel. TP doesn't have a clue. Like I've posted earlier, I can explain it to him but I can't understand it for him. I'm done.
  10. One of the "pleasures" of getting older seems to be waking up each day to find a new joint that hurts. And I'm running out of new joints to hurt!! One of the pluses of getting older is you don't worry too much if you don't feel like having sex. More than likely neither does your partner. And neither of you care.
  11. Back off on that niacin and you'll stop having the hot flashes. Seriously.
  12. But TP, you replied as though I was the person you quoted. I wasn't.
  13. I may be wrong but I don't think Animal was referring to you.
  14. In the future, please only address your replies to me when you have quoted me. I was not the person you quoted. The site you quote is still a left wing liberal site and certainly would not qualify as unbiased.
  15. Memory isn't as good. And memory isn't as good.
  16. The really funny thing is when I heard back in 1974 that Carter was planning to run for president I swore straight up and down that if he won I would move to Mexico. I didn't move even though he won. By the time 1980 rolled around, I preferred him over Reagan. But by 1984, I had seen the light. Except I did have a lapse of judgment in 1992 when I voted Democrat. My uncle Grady would roll over in his grave today if he knew I ever voted for anyone other than a Democrat.
  17. Nope. I'm still poor. But I don't expect someone else to support me.
  18. I was not a Reagan fan. I voted for Carter in 1980 even though I did not in 1976. Surprise you? Yeah, I used to be a liberal Democrat. Then I saw the light.
  19. About 8 or 9 years ago, my son in law worked at Walmart in the distribution center. He made more money per hour than that same position pays now. He verified that with Walmart when he applied again, so it's not just opinion. Walmart is not a good business model when it comes to how to treat and pay your employees. Why? The White House doesn't pass laws.
  20. Yes, after all, they "deserve" everything you've worked your ass off to get. Hey, just like the government. Oh please! This administration has done more to discourage job growth than any I ever remember. There are more regulations than you can shake a stick at. More jobs require "certification" or licensing, simply because the feds say so. If this administration were supporting job growth, they would get the hell out of the way and let businesses do what they do best--create jobs. Instead the only jobs being created are the ones who make sure every regulation has been f
  21. The state minimum wage is $5.15 an hour BUT when state law and federal law conflict, the one that gives the worker the most protection is the one that prevails. Therefore, the state minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. I've had to have that discussion with several employers, and clients, in the past. I even had one tell me they weren't going to pay the minimum wage regardless of what the state said. And we had clients who had tipped employees and paid their employees MORE than the tipped minimum wage of $2.13 an hour. Interestingly enough, the one who paid employees more than the minimum a
  22. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Homeowners insurance can be higher here due to the hurricanes but it's hard to believe it could be higher than what the buyers of our house up there paid. YIKES!! Our property taxes are actually lower here. It was about $100 less here, and that included the city tax.
  23. WOW. You just called a lot of business owners greedy liars. Not good, TP, not good.
  24. Our unemployment rate has been under 8% for over a year. Georgia's unemployment rate just went below 8% in November, last month! Our town has one of the lowest cost of living rates in the country, too. The state as a whole may not do as well but this area is great. A lot of retirees here, particularly military. Housing is reasonably priced. You would need to make $52,738 in Dallas, GA compared to $50,000 in Milton, FL to maintain the same standard of living. Here's a calculator that shows the cost of living comparison: http://www.areavibes.com/cost-of-living-calculator/milton,+
