I, too, have health insurance now. UPDATED

I'm sure there are liberal Democrats in the same boat as I am but somehow I just have a feeling that they aren't going to say a word about how they have gotten screwed by this. And TP, you're a pathetic person to derive pleasure from the fact that a conservative (or anyone else for that matter) is not getting the benefits that WE, as citizens of the United States, were PROMISED by a man running for the highest office in the country. You, TP, of all people should feel shame that people aren't getting treated as they were PROMISED, regardless of their political leanings. If indeed you deri -

But it seems to me that if you live in a state that didn't expand Medicaid, that you should be able to get the subsidy. Otherwise, you've been lied to about not having to pay more than 3.5% of your income on health insurance. You've been told it's affordable, when it isn't. You've basically been screwed without having dinner and a movie first. FWIW, I'm still not verified. -

We have $228 a YEAR too much income for Medicaid, so in our case isn't "too much". It's $19 a month too much. And the bad thing is they don't take into account what you actually receive in SSDI. Hubby's Medicare takes about a $150 a month bite out of it before we see anything. I'm fine with Florida not expanding their Medicaid program. I'm all for that, in fact. I think they used their heads. I *think* Florida increased the limits that qualify you for Medicaid but they have had server errors all day and I can't get any information. -

I don't have credit. I don't work. Not much chance of getting a credit card. Though they did offer me one at the bank yesterday. I should have taken them up on it, I guess. Paying out $1065 a month would leave us roughly $700 a month for utilities, food, insurance. That's not doable. -

Was your SIL and daughter told they "could" qualify for Medicaid and therefore did not qualify for a subsidy tax credit? That is how my letter seems to read. It's not clear if the reason I don't qualify for the tax credit is because I could qualify for Medicaid or not. It reads and I quote: Based on the information you provided, the new federal health law provides that you could be eligible for free or low cost health care through Medicaid. It does not say that is the reason I don't qualify for a subsidy, though. Just that I don't qualify for one and I'm not subject to a penalty if I don' -

The letter I got says I COULD be eligible for free or low cost health insurance through Medicaid. But I'm not. Our income is $228 a year too much. I already know that. I attempted to try again on the Florida Medicaid site to see if I was eligible and the site encountered an internal server error on the last page! It wasn't working at all last night. I think I'm going to appeal the ineligibility decision. It just seems wrong that someone with limited income can't get the "tax credit". -
Could never get any help about verifying my identity so I could use the healthcare.gov site so I called the Health Insurance Market Place. I now have health insurance effective February 1, 2014. And it will only cost me $496.00 a month. I also have to pay $6250.00 deductible before the insurance pays a penny. Yep, you read that correctly. Our total income a year is roughly $22,000 through my husband's Social Security disability, I don't work (not sure I can now due to several issues and the need for surgery which will put me out of commission for 3-6 months) and I don't qualify f

TP, read closely. The policies that InLa had were no longer legal under Obamacare so despite what the pres_ent said, she could NOT keep her policies even though she was happy with them. They were no longer sold. So, if the Prez said "if you're happy with your policy, you can keep it" he was WRONG, lied to the public, told the people what they wanted to hear or was mistaken (you choose which you believe). That might be the case for a few people but certainly not everyone. I could not keep mine either because it goes away as of January 31. The program will no longer exist so I couldn't kee

It's clear to me.

Whoo hoo!! That right there is reason to keep trying to get coverage.

Let's see the next call will be call #6, I think. I've been at this since November. Actually I created my account on the website on day one. Of course, that was before the problems were known. And I did ask on one of the calls why I don't qualify for a subsidy. They had no answer. Seriously. She could not answer. No, the Kaiser estimator gave a subsidy amount. It changed from the first time I used it to the last time, but I think the first time or two I put in my wrong age. It was only a little bit of a difference in the cost to me, something like $8 or $10 a month. Stop l

I have applied. They have processed the application. I just can't buy insurance because I can't be verified. I'm hoping tomorrow to tackle that and be able to buy insurance. I don't like the idea of being my age and not having any. I am beyond frustrated with them. Today, the whole point of the online chat was to find out what ELSE I needed to send so they could verify my identity. They couldn't answer that because apparently I had already done it. In fact, he asked "did you send a copy of your drivers license?" I said yes, five weeks ago and I'm still not verified. He asked me

I really got a good laugh, and a good groan, when I went to the Obamacare facts website. They have this: How Will Subsidies Affect My Cost? As a rule of thumb the less you make the lower your premium will be (do to advanced premium tax credits) and the lower your out-of-pocket costs will be as well. They missed what they were supposed to say. The frustrated English teacher in me wants to print it out, circle the mistake and send it back to them with the note "try again" and a big red F on it!

Would you care to see the letter I got from them saying I am not eligible for a tax credit? It also says I am eligible for Medicaid which I am not ($421 too much a year in income). I can only tell you what I have been informed of. And seriously, if you want to see the letter so you'll believe me, I'll post it. And yes, we SHOULD be getting help with it. But we aren't. I went through the same thing when I was trying to get some injections in my knee. I wasn't eligible for any help paying the co-pay because somehow our slightly less than $22,000 a year income is too much. Or not enoug

The Health Insurance Market Place TOLD me that I was not eligible for a subsidy so it's not just me saying it or me doing it wrong.

I created an account on healthcare.gov. I verified the account. I submitted a paper application during the time that the website was inoperable. I was contacted by the Health Insurance Market Place letting me know my application had been processed. I called to purchase insurance. I had not seen ANY plans so I wanted to read about them before choosing anything. The rep I spoke to said I could continue the application online, including purchasing the policy, as long as I had my application ID number, which I did. When I attempted to purchase insurance online I got the message Your id

If I'm not mistaken, they do ask your race on the application. I don't have one in front of me so I can't remember for certain. Oh, and here in Florida, you register by party. It seems as though I'm being denied a subsidy because I don't have a high enough household income. Does that make better sense?

Good luck finding something. I haven't checked anything in Georgia as I don't live there, but the options here in Florida are limited. Decent doctors are on one insurance companies plans but not the other. Since I'm facing surgery later in the year, I want to make sure my orthopaedist is on whatever plan I pick. My insurance goes away completely at the end of the month. It was only extended through January because of the problems people had signing up earlier. I was not given the choice to keep my plan. Wednesday will be five weeks since I sent information to verify my identit

I don't want to opt out of insurance. I want one I can afford.

The season might be a bit different here but Academy Sports had crocs the other day when we were there. Also, try Walmart.

There's a saying that everyone has a Doppelgänger

I see it in some of those but others Really strange doppelganger story. Last May our next door neighbor from up there came to stay with us for a week. We went out to eat one day at a restaurant near the beach. We all stopped what we were doing, our jaws dropped and at the same time we all said "is that A?" meaning our son in law. I mean this guy was the SPITTING image of him right down to the teeth, the haircut, color of hair, everything. He even had on clothes similar to what our son in law wears a lot. This guy didn't just look freakishly like our son in law, he looked IDENTICAL t -
I know InLa. We're almost neighbors. So, hi neighbor! I told my husband months ago when I first did the subsidy calculator that I knew I wouldn't get a subsidy even though the calculator said I would. When he asked why I wouldn't get one I said "oh, I don't know. Take your pick. I'm white and I haven't voted Democrat in a Presidential election since the first time Clinton was elected. You decide why I won't get it." This was MONTHS before I tried to sign up. I'm still waiting for my identity to be verified. That should have happened before Christmas. State of Florida did an

Explain how something that takes more than 25% of our monthly household income is affordable. Explain how this law was supposed to make sure more people were covered by insurance and I am losing mine with little or no chance of getting something I can afford. HOW is this better? Because they can't turn me down? I can't AFFORD IT. Doesn't matter to me if it's the law or not. If I have no taxable income and are not due a refund, they can't penalize me for not having insurance.
