He was so wonderful. I just loved that man. He even convinced our best man to attend Easter services.

I would only advise on tax issues. I am not a financial adviser.

Out of curiosity, who pays to operate the airport? And not just who you THINK pays to operate it. Who really pays it.

I was in the class of '73. How about you?

I think that was PCS Charli. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe she will post an update.

Many attorneys got wealthy in those two fights. I've been to a number of city council and county commission meetings where zonings or land use issues were being discussed or voted on. Not ONE of them was turned down. Not a one. In the case of the houses at the end of my street, we were able to get larger houses approved. But that was it. And the foreclosures that have occurred since that time brought down the values of everyone's property in the area. The houses were sold with 100% financing, meaning that the buyers had two mortgages. One house in particular, the owners had mortga

Environmental studies, much like statistics, can be skewed by the person or group wanting to present their point of view. Impact studies were done for the railyard. Dozens of them, likely. But somehow nobody thought how detrimental it would be to the surrounding area to remove a huge natural drainage area. Well, people in Austell and Powder Springs who were never before flooded might be able to tell you the impact that removing that huge natural drainage area had on them. The businesses that were flooded, the roads that were closed because they went underwater. There's a family that mour

That was a settlement with the cities of Austell and Powder Springs. Powder Springs got a bridge over the railroad tracks behind Powder Springs Elementary. Austell got a golf course. I have yet to find the golf course. I don't believe it has ever been built. FYI, I was part of that fight. The railyard is less than 1 mile through the woods from where I used to live. Fortunately, the people in the subdivision expansion at the end of the street I lived on are closer to it. We fought that one, too. Unfortunately, when a large company, like a railroad or an airline (or a government ag

Salty old guy. Never saw that man in a suit. Sure he owned one though. He bushhogged his own yard. If you saw him you'd wonder what shack he lived in since he mostly wore overalls or faded jeans. He had all kinds of vehicles, none of them brand new. Nothing fancy. He loved tinkering on things. The man had close to as much money as God. In fact, I knew FOUR guys who fit that description. Except one didn't like to tinker on anything. He just liked to fish. -
I, for one, understand why Paulding Patti is getting upset. Rockysmom asked her a question, which she answered but Rockysmom, as RM is prone to do, pushed more. Paulding Patti. I understand you. I wish you well. I also hope you get out while you can. Take it from someone who has fought two issues in the past. The "little man" has no chance of winning. Sorry. If the people really counted and their opinion really counted, there would not be a Norfolk Southern rail yard in Austell.

Gee, Mei Lan, if you hadn't posted that I wouldn't have realized it had been changed!! He had "the're" or something like that.

Rev. Garrard married us. The church didn't have a pastor at the time. Charles (can't remember his last name) had just left and Rev. Garrard was the associate pastor but was performing duties as though he was pastor.

I attended LaBelle Elementary (1st grade), Smyrna Elementary (2nd grade), Brown Elementary (first half of third grade) and Norton Park Elementary (second half of third grade and all of fourth, fifth and sixth). Attended Nash Junior High. Then Wills High. In spite of the fact that I attended four elementary schools, we never moved. My paternal grandmother was postmistress of the Smyrna Post Office years before I was born. My paternal grandfather was a justice of the peace. They moved to "the home place" on Old Concord Road on New Year's Day 1917. My grandmother remained there until sh

Really wondering what "big lie" some of those mentioned said. I mean, we were supposed to name people who had to be truthful, right?

Anyone up for taking bets on how fast construction starts?

Good luck. You'll need it if dealing with the FAA is anything like dealing with the railroad when they want to build something. Oh yeah, I forgot, all the major airlines are behind expansion, too. But congratulations. Don't forget it will be done anyway and someone will get very wealthy from it.

Oh puhleze. The Democrats are just as guilty of blocking passage. They want it their way or no way, just like the Republicans do. Folks in Congress, this isn't Burger King. Not everyone gets to have it their way. Let's start doing it the right way--the way that helps the most people while spending the least money. That means, you don't get that pork deal for your district and your expense account needs to be slashed. -

TP, this is totally off topic but I find your profile picture to be distracting. Thank you. We now return you to the regularly scheduled nonsense. -

A Question About The Lottery, And School Taxes

I so know the feeling. It's like trying to convince my mom that the veggies you buy at Winn Dixie are not poisonous. I gave up on that argument. She never heard it. Much like TP is not hearing this one. -
