  1. I know several people who will be doing the happy dance over this!
  2. As someone who has lost grandchildren and who has a precious year old granddaughter, my heart breaks for this family. They are definitely in my prayers.
  3. I might add that we have clients at work that I hug when I see them. But not some family members. I guess I feel "closer" to the clients.
  4. I see friends more than I do family, except for my husband, daughter and granddaughter. I'm from a family of 5, my mom came from a family of 9, my dad from a family of 6. I have lots and lots and lots of cousins and a combined 6 nieces and nephews. I rarely see any of them. My surviving brother lives in Florida, my surviving sister in Marietta. Two of my nephews live in Cobb County, the other nephew lives in Charlotte, one niece lives in Gwinnett County, one in Polk County, one in Dekalb County. I don't think I've seen any of my nieces and nephews (with the except of the one who li
  5. I have some relatives that I'd just as soon not acknowledge them. Others to whom I want to give a big hug. My parents and father in law are deceased and there is no way in he** I'm going to hug my mother in law. I might hug my brother since I rarely get to see him. My sister and I don't hug. I just about always hug my daughters when I see them. And kiss and hug the grandbaby. Not sure about the older grandkids because it's been so long since I've seen them. I have friends I ALWAYS hug when I see them. Thinking about it, I hug friends a whole lot more than I hu
  6. WAY TO GO!!! It's never too late.
  7. They have a common coffee pot. Boy, coffee scented something would be great!!
  8. I was thinking those scents or possibly something like an outdoorsy scent like ocean breeze or rain forest. Never tried the Febreeze plug ins. That's a definite possibility since I am NOT trekking to the mall for this.
  9. Believe me, he's all man. He liked potpourri better than I do, though! Ooooooooooooooh. I hadn't thought about that!! Good suggestion.
  10. My hubby asked me to get something for him to take to his office to make it smell better. It's in a manfacturing facility and since he's a guy, I don't want to send anything too feminine. I'm at a loss about WHAT to do. He mentioned potpourri but somehow I don't think the ivy bowl I have with the lace doily would be appropriate for his office. I have a brass container about 2 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches long and that wouldn't be too girly for him. I'm not sure that would work, though since it is a very modern looking building (think lots of glass). What about other options
  11. I know what you mean. A friend of ours from church died in an ultralight crash on June 26. His visitation was on July 1. At the same time that this guy's visitation was being held, the memorial service for another friend of ours (the son of a friend actually), was also being held. He died in a fall on June 27. We found out about it on July 4. One of my husband's co-workers died in an auto accident on July 3. His funeral was on the 6th and my husband attended. That was two funerals or visitations my husband had attended in six days. Another of my husband's co-workers,
  12. I think it depends on the age of the child and who the deceased is. My middle daughter took all of her kids to their grandmother's funeral. The kids were like 12, 9 and 4. The grandmother had lived with them for a couple of years, though, so the kids were close to her. I think the first funeral we took our youngest to was when she was 15. She was very close to this particular cousin. It wasn't that we just didn't take her to funerals before that. We just had not had any close family pass away prior to that. Seems like most of what we do now is go to funerals, memorial s
  13. We have Aetna. At least for now. We're on COBRA which runs out at the end of October. Not sure yet what we're going to do. I just can't see Aetna and Wellstar walking away from this deal. Either one of them. Wellstar provides hospital and health care services to probably 90% of the population of Cobb, Paulding and Douglas Counties. Aetna is not the largest insurance company in the area but I'm sure they are big enough that Wellstar doesn't want to lose them. I, too, believe it is just a tactic to get customers to put pressure on both of them to reach an agreement.
  14. After I ate on Sunday night my stomach started bothering me. It hurt like crazy but I had no other symptoms. Just a bad stomachache. Yesterday, my appetite wasn't very good but did manage to eat a homecooked hamburger and some chips for supper. Today, it is so-so. Hubby said his stomach was fine.
  15. If there is no construction in your area you must live in a different part of Powder Springs than I do.
  16. D&A Tire. Just off Butler Industrial. Great people, great service.
  17. I had one time last night that the DSL went down for a few minutes. Other than that, no problems. Are you in an area of construction? A lot of the time when they are doing construction, particularly when utilities are having to be moved, we have problems. I expect problems when they start relocating phone lines along Hiram Lithia Springs Road. do you also work around Powder Springs?
  18. Before you become a real estate agent who does it as a "side job", ask yourself what your potential clients would want--someone who does this for a living or someone who does this as a side job for some extra money. Me--I don't want a part time real estate agent. His/her job will be to sell my house or help me buy a house. They can't be working two counties away in a full time job and devote the time required these days to sell or buy a house. BTW, I took the course and while I didn't take the final or the licensing exam, I feel as though it was money well spent. And it was quit
  19. Probably to give time to input the new data. Once all of that is done, it should be back up and running. Cobb County used to do that. Not sure if they do now or not.
  20. When we bought our house in 1978, the insurance was with State Farm and we continued with that until without explanation the bank didn't pay the premium and we had a hard time getting in touch with the State Farm agent. So we went with Nationwide since we already had our car insurance with them and had NO trouble getting in touch with the agent. We were with Nationwide for about 10 years. Our Nationwide agent retired about a year or so ago and we had never been able to get in touch with our new agent. Switched in March to Allied, which is a division of Nationwide. We saved enough on the t
  21. The Xpress buses go from Hiram (in front of the theatre) to Powder Springs (at Florence Road) and then make two stops on Thornton Road in Douglas County before getting on I-20 and going to downtown Atlanta. Since there is no CCT service AT ALL to Powder Springs, there is no possible way to get on the Xpress bus, connect to CCT and go to Marietta unless you go to downtown Atlanta to get there. Starting sometime this fall, there will be a CCT route that serves Austell and that will connect to routes that go to Marietta, Kennesaw and the Cumberland Mall area but currently if you want to t
  22. If I'm not mistaken, those buses are express buses to downtown Atlanta. There is nowhere that they connect to a CCT bus.
  23. Where are you planning to board the public transportation?
