  1. Oh, how those songs can bring back memories. One that I found from the past to be appropriate is "Diamonds and Rust". The last few lines go something like "you say you're not nostalgic, then give me another word for it because you were so good with words and keeping things vague. I could use some of that vagueness now because it's coming back too clearly, yes, I loved you dearly". That was from 33 years ago and it still brings back memories of the person I was with back then. The other night my husband and I were sitting around watching late, late night TV and drinking wine.
  2. I think you're right about that. Memories can certainly play tricks on us and make us think things and times were better than they actually were. Good memories can overshadow the bad ones. Excellent point.
  3. I know what you mean--glad it happened, glad it's over. What made me start thinking about this was a friend of mine and I were talking about still loving someone even though you were no longer "in love" with them. Just for the record, I very much love, and am in love with, my husband. The conversation with my friend just got me to thinking about first loves and loves in general. I can't imagine ever not loving, and being in love with, my husband.
  4. Does one ever truly get over a first love? Or someone they truly loved whether it was the first one or not? Just wondering.
  5. We've only driven through a couple of times to look at the cars. However, some of the people did like the looks of my hubby's car. BTW, the hubby's car is fine now. He would probably recognize me from my car, too. It sure isn't a 69 Camaro though.

    Give Blood.

A simple finger stick blood test, blood pressure check, temperature and pulse. If you answer all the questions to their satisfaction and your BP isn't too high, you don't appear to have an infection and you have a high enough hemoglobin, you can donate. After the blood is taken, it is tested and retested and retested to make sure it is safe to give to someone. If during that point something is found that would make it unsafe, you are notified and the blood is not used. Being negative shouldn't cause a problem. You may have a rare combination that is in great demand, too. I just fou

    Give Blood.

Just to let some of you who have said you're too anemic to give, the Red Cross does the blood test a little differently now. If you were too "anemic" at the Red Cross but you were fine at the doctor's office, you will most likely be fine at the Red Cross now. They no longer use the blue stuff but instead do a blood test just like in the doctor's office. The last several times I went and they used the blue stuff they had to spin it down anyway and I was fine. I certainly have no problem being anemic.
  8. Do you ever go to the car show at Zaxby's in Powder Springs on Brownsville Road? We were by there last night and there were quite a few cars. I think they do this every Friday during the summer (and maybe other times as well).
  9. I already have an urn picked out. Only going to need one until my survivors can get to the beach but I want something that screams "Carol" and that everyone who looks at it will know it was me. And no, Renee, it does not have a Skynyrd album cover on it.
  10. You could always do what my mother in law and brother in law did. My father in law and nephew died within 10 days of each other. They were very close. Both were cremated. My MIL and BIL, who lived on the same piece of property, made a little memorial garden where they placed flowers and crosses. The urns containing the ashes were kept inside (my FIL at my MILs house, my nephew at his mom's house). The memorial garden was a peaceful area to which anyone who wanted to place flowers or to mourn could go. Granted my BIL owned over 25 acres so he had plenty of room to do the memorial garden,
  11. I'm all for it. It is my desire to have a funeral followed by a cremation after which my ashes are to be scattered at the beach. I also am an organ donor. I have informed my husband and two of my three daughters of my desires. The other daughter is not in the picture. Personally, I don't believe God wants to keep us out of heaven because we choose to be cremated or to donate organs. As I understand it, we are to be given new bodies anyway.
  12. As far as clothing goes, Nehru jackets/shirts and love beads in the 60s followed by long skirts like worn in the old west and then bell bottom jeans in the 70s. I had my mom make me a red stripe shirt like the Beach Boys wore, too. Grew up after that. Now wear jeans or shorts all the time except in the winter when it's sweats and flannel shirts at home and jeans, t-shirts and flannel shirts when I go out. Also, back in the 70s I was in my "Native American" phase and wore my jet black hair in braids.
  13. My first e-mail address was through Prodigy. They assigned all kinds of wierd things. I think mine was something like MSVN98@prodigy.com or something. My next one was through AOL and it was the same as my current one except it was @aol.com and my current one is @bellsouth.net.
  14. Tell your friend he will just have to be patient. It takes time, lots of time, for this to work its way through the system. He should be able to check the state website to see what documentation he will need and if he has it, I'd take it tomorrow. He probably won't be asked for it but I'd take it anyway. And don't give them originals of ANYTHING. Give them copies or hand them originals that they hand back to you. It took about six weeks for my daughter and son in law to get turned down from the time they first applied. He's been out of work since June 2, so it's been difficult on
  15. Not quite. And I have no plans to EVER buy anything from them. Nor do I own anything purchased from them. Don't care for their business practices.
  16. Thanks. and they called again yesterday, bypassing three blocked numbers from them.
  17. I don't owe them money but yet they call. They ask for my husband. He doesn't owe them money either. They want us to give a message to our son in law who ALSO does not owe them money. I've read complaints from others who say they get phone calls in spite of not owing them money, although someone they know may or may have at one time. Glad your son won.
  18. I was going to say it was all the people they've pissed off by calling them when they have been TOLD not to call.
  19. No, that didn't happen to me. I still can't figure out how to get the old stuff back into OE but I'll keep working on it. No biggie now since my daughter is going to send me everything again, so I'll have the pictures I want. I am using Outlook as my default mail handler NOW. Sorry all you who keep mentioning other e-mail software. Not interested in changing. Could not stand Firefox so not interested in using something that works with it.
  20. Not to discourage anyone who needs the help, but it isn't always as easy as just applying. My granddaughter turned 1 on May 31 and my daughter sent in her application to continue Medicaid by the end of April. She still does not have Medicaid, in spite of the fact that she applied and sent all necessary documents. Orginal documents, no less. The office in charge of processing the application (can't remember if it's DFACS or the health department) LOST the application and the documentation. TWICE. So, she will soon be in need of more immunizations but has no Medicaid and no insurance a
  21. I switched over to using Outlook 2007 this morning. Don't want to take a chance on losing stuff. The things I was heartsick about losing were pictures of my grandbaby. Granted, my daughter can send them to me again but it's still heartbreaking to know I did away with them accidently. I did find the folder that the backup went into but I can't figure out how to get it to OE. Yet. I may have to actually send it to the recycle bin in order to recover it. I have instructions on how to restore it from the recycle bin. I kept resisting going to Outlook 2007 because that would have
  22. Yes. I restored it but don't have a clue where it went. I did find instructions on how to get them back and will work on doing that tomorrow when I have a clearer head. I have the backup file. I have it backed up, too. All I have to do is figure out how to get it back to OE. I may be calling you if I can't get it figured out. And thank you!!!
  23. We had been with Nationwide since the early 1980s. Homeowners and car insurance through them. Just on a lark, we decided to get a quote through the insurance agency that handles our business insurance. We went with Alliance Insurance. We switched a homeowners, a fire insurance (on our rental) and a policy on three vehicles and saved enough to pay for one of the three policies. As luck would have it, less than a month after switching our homeowners we had a claim.
  24. sounds a lot like this: http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/burundanga.asp
  25. I guess it did come with Windows. I have Outlook, too, but it takes forever and a day to load messages, so I just use OE for e-mail. I WILL not compact messages again.
