  1. My SIL had them before he and my daughter got married. He had an accident and although he had full coverage (the car was financed) they refused to pay for damages. That's the only time I know of anyone having problems with them. I thought they were great. At least according to a body shop owner I used to know.
  2. $726 for an ER visit? Pay the bill and move on. That's CHEAP.
  3. I'm a little afraid that once this 57 year old, who walks with a limp at times, gets up to leave, they will write me off. But I'm going to give it a shot!
  4. Good luck to you. I know, from personal experience, how much it hurts not being able to see your grandchildren.
  5. How funny!! I went to school with Donnie, who owned it for a few years.
  6. don't give up!! I just got an e-mail back about a job that I had planned to submit my resume for again. WOOHOO!!
  7. No, it's difficult in that industry as well. I think it was at least two months between submitting a resume and getting a call last year. Might have been longer than two months. I really don't remember. I do remember it was a lot longer than I expected.
  8. I agree with Mysterious. You're not doing anything wrong. It IS a sign of the times. I have been looking for a job since November 2009! Yes, 2009. I had one offer for a job I wouldn't have done no matter what the pay (I am NOT a telemarketer). I have gotten quite a few interviews but no job offer other than the telemarketing job. I have TONS of experience but alas, those years of experience translate in years on me, too. It is VERY difficult to get a job after you turn 40. Try being late 50s and looking for a job. I even had an interviewer tell me he wasn't sure how to phra
  9. May I add one more? Gun control--using both hands.
  10. I forgot about Merlot. I do like it, too. Just haven't had either burgundy or merlot in a long time.
  11. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I do like the burgundy that comes in a big bottle/jug. I can't remember who makes it but I think it's Gallo. I haven't had any in a long, long time. I'm more of a mixed drink drinker, like margaritas, pina coladas and White Russians. Occasionally like just a plain Screwdriver. Wine? I can take it or leave it and generally leave it.
  12. If you're close to downtown Dallas, I'd bet dollars to donuts that cable is available. But you asked about a converter and antenna. Unless you have an older TV that doesn't have a built-in digital tuner, you wouldn't need a converter, just an antenna. We have a newer TV (bought in 2007, I think) that has a built-in digital tuner. We have a rooftop antenna and get well over 50 channels.
  13. I have a feeling this won't end well.
  14. I think mine and hubby's licenses expire the same year, just six months apart. Insurance is in hubby's name, too. I hope. I've been trying for two months to get it changed from mine to his. I guess they do it alphabetical or something. I will definitely check the requirements down there. I know we have to get something from his doc showing he is disabled for the handicapped tag and it has to be from a Florida doctor. That might create a problem. Heck, getting one from a Georgia doctor would be a problem now since he hasn't been to the doctor since December 2010. I'm sure we
  15. Nope, not voting for it. Just look at what has happened to the money to help distressed homeowners. Apparently some politicians look at that as "free money for the taking".
  16. I've been married 34 years. Seems wrong somehow that I have to dig out that certificate to prove I'm married. Isn't this gray hair proof enough that I've been married forever and a day? Would they take pictures of all 7 of my living grandchildren as proof of my marriage? What does one do who literally does not have some of that stuff--like a mortgage, utility bills, W2 or other things like that? I will have a difficult time coming up with two things to prove my residence. The utilities are in my husband's name, I have no health insurance, I'm self employed, we own our own h
  17. what do I think? I think it's meaningless drivel and is an effort to divert attention from the still foundering economy and jobs market. The person who said it obviously has no clue how much "work" is involved in being a SAHM. The hardest work I ever did was when I was a SAHM to three girls. Only thing that rivals that as difficult is being at home with my retired husband. Thank goodness for that Tuesday I go into the office. She was partially correct in that Ann Romney probably has no clue about what it's like to wonder how you will feed, clothe or house your family. Whe
  18. And at that crossing! You can see for a long way toward Atlanta, which would have been the direction from which the train was approaching. That is one of the craziest crossings, too. You can turn left ONTO Veteran's Memorial but not OFF Veteran's Memorial. You can't see squat to the right if you're coming across the tracks to Veteran's Memorial so why allow left turns??? I agree with--how do people get hit by trains. They're big, they're usually dark colored with really bright lights on the front and they are LOUD. How do you miss them being there? Thank goodness it
  19. Here's a link to the 11alive.com story: http://www.11alive.com/news/article/237920/40/Truck-struck-by-Amtrak-train-minor-injuries-reported My daughter said she also got pictures so I may be able to post them over the weekend. I'd hated to look out my living room window to see that. But not as much as I would have hated to been the truck driver.
  20. Give it a while. It literally happened about 30 minutes ago. I bet it gave my daughter a jolt! WOW! That is almost in their living room.
  21. AMTRAK train hit a truck at the Spring St Crossing. If I'm not mistaken, this is the western most crossing, there at the chemical plant. Be prepared for backups all along Austell Powder Springs Rd, Humphries Hill and Veteran's Memorial.
  22. For my middle daughter as well. She goes 100 miles an hour ALL the time, is working full time, in school to become a nurse, is a certified medical assistant AND a certified nursing assistant and still helped her husband in his business (though that business is almost nil at this time). She couldn't do all that at the age of 38 without being hyperactive. She didn't have the "AD" part of ADHD. She could pay attention and concentrate but she could do it on a dozen different things at once. In school, she always got NI (needs improvement) on controls talking. Even now she is a motormouth.
  23. Well, I don't know nothing about a sales tax return either. Tell Joe I want to wheel and deal with him on one of those items he showed me yesterday. He will know what I'm talking about. Good natured hard time. It would be one thing if I had forgotten to give the checks to the client to sign but I have check signing authority and I STILL forgot it!! You only do 10 stupid things a day before lunch? I got you beat. I usually do that many before I get going good. They were properly endorsed. At least I got THAT part right. And I didn't thr
  24. Nope. That one made it to the bank. Sorry. But the client whose check I threw away is giving me a (good natured) hard time about it. Thank goodness they know me well. The teller didn't catch it. And I've seen it happen more than once, too. More than once for this particular client in fact.
  25. I must be losing my mind. I went to the bank to make a deposit today. I had two checks from a client. As a general rule, if she's not in the office, I sign them (she has given me permission to do so). As I left the bank I got to thinking and realized that one of the checks had not been signed by her OR me and I don't believe either of them had been signed. My question--will the checks go through without being signed? I seem to recall having seen some clear accounts before that were not signed and others that were signed but had no payee. Last week, I threw away a check from a
