  1. Will you be by on Friday? I got a bewbie hug for you. Got you and your dad in my thoughts, too.
  2. Hubby and I were on a motorcycle ride back in the mid-1980s and stopped along a power line right of way to stretch our legs. When we climbed back on the bike and headed down the maintenance road there was a huge snake lying across the road. We couldn't go over it and the grass was high enough and the terrain rough enough that we couldn't go around it. We backed up a bit and hubby found a good sturdy limb that had fallen from a tree. He used the limb to hold down the snake's head and then took his knife out to cut the head off. All the while I could just see him getting bit and us out ther
  3. OK, that does it. I am NEVER setting foot in Paulding County again!! Been too close to a timber rattler already once in my life and that was once too many! HANDLE THEM??? Are you nuts????????? You run like he** from them! Where's TBAR? Oh yeah, he read "snake" and he left.
  4. I think I remember Mr Brown. At least the name rings a bell. Many, many mornings it was 1 or 2 hours after we opened before my husband could do the first bit of work because the "neighbors" would stop in to talk. Even some from over on Pierce Road would come by from time to time. We were in the beige building, where Pit Stop is (actually next door to Pit Stop). Saw so many changes in that area. And you are RIGHT on the new road, too! I am soooo excited for you! I love seeing people do good, especially good people doing good.
  5. I'd be willing to bet EVERYTHING I own that she knows she has a weight problem, at least in some people's view. She didn't need some idiot to point it out to her.
  6. Unfortunately I can only give you 1+. Otherwise, I'd give you 1000+. It ISN'T anyone else's business. And that goes if she is thin, fat, tall, short, gay, straight, black, Hispanic, white or purple with pink polka dots. She is what she is and as long as SHE is OK with it, it's nobody else's business. FYI, thin people are bullied and teased, too. My oldest has always been a bean pole and was constantly teased about it throughout school. That is HER. That is her body. The girl ate like a horse. She took after her biological mother in being tall and thin. There are some peopl
  7. I'm so excited for you!! I know you're happy to get out of that basement, too. Lots of great memories of that area for me. Many, many good times and many good friends. Hope it has the same effect on you.
  8. I'm not sure if either serve alcohol and if they do, it's likely just beer and wine but Bar L Barbecue and Hometown Pizza both have excellent food. They are on West Elm St in Fulton's Corner Shopping Center. Easy to get to (turn at the road across from Coots Lake, stay on that road until you get to a traffic light, take a left and after you cross the railroad track it is on your right). I think there is also a place called either Sideline or Sidekicks. It is on 278 but Lord I can't tell you where exactly. I don't travel that part of Rockmart except on very rare occasions. There
  9. You need to add an "all of the above" to the second question!
  10. There are plenty of tenants and plenty of landlords. Not much money. It's like the energy assistance programs in that the funding is limited.
  11. It takes so long because the demand is higher than either the supply of money to fund it or the supply of available housing. It takes a good while for a landlord to be approved, too. Just beware, and not to throw a wet towel on anything, but even once approved there has to be an opening. The last time I looked Cobb wasn't even accepting applications for Section 8 except on the landlord side.
  12. He's on Cleburne Parkway between where Jump 4 Joey's was and Rosedale, across from the nice office building. There used to be a carpet place there. And a few other things through the years.
  13. That's what they make earplugs for. The chainsaw, not your music.
  14. Wasn't the same company but it happened to us a few years ago. No explanation for why we were skipped because we were on the route and were current with the bill. Are you the only pick up on your street? We were when we were missed. That was the only explanation we ever came up with for being missed.
  15. Wish you had been going to see her and her be doing well beyond expectations. But glad you had to pick up parts. That's a good sign, too. If the area around your shop is like it was in the late 1980s when we were in the beige building next door, you will do great because the "neighbors" will start stopping by to get to know you and then do business with you. We loved that area! I'll start honking the horn when I pass by to let you know I'm thinking of you.
  16. I took my road test in the rain. I wondered when, and why, they stopped doing it. I mean, you have to drive in the rain at some point, don't you?
  17. There's a difference between suspecting something was going on and knowing something was going on. If she KNEW, she needs to be prosecuted as well. If she suspected but did not know, there is little that should be done to her. Apparently, she was not that close to any of the kids. I thought I heard them say last night on the news that the Comer's had no friends or family in Paulding (and maybe even Georgia). If the grandmother lived in another state, she could easily have felt something was wrong but have no proof.
  18. If you recycle and particularly if you compost non-meat food scraps, 4-6 times a year would be all you would need to go to the landfill. Back when we had a compost bin and were composting almost everything, our weekly garbage would be one, possibly two kitchen size bags.
  19. Glenn--saw you heading down 278 toward I-20 about 3:45. Hope you were going to see her and that there is good news to report.
  20. My guess is that it would be a very long time before the parents would regain custody of the daughters regardless of what sentence they are given for the neglect and abuse. Unfortunately, it is too often true that people face stiffer sentences and stiffer fines for animal abuse than child abuse. It's really sad.
  21. Just know that medical science can do some amazing things these days. Brain injury, of any kind, isn't what it used to be. Hang in there, dude. We got her family covered with our prayers.
  22. I really doubt it. The last time I saw people there, back in the spring, it was an older couple. I think they have been there for years. I don't often go down that street, as I usually turn before that street, but it's a fairly stable neighborhood. Now, had it been up on Butner, you could have been correct in your speculation.
  23. With me, it's nerves. I bite my nails or scratch my back. It's that or drink heavily.
