How to handle a family member who is out of line
Mama Carol replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah, killing 'em just sends you to prison even if nobody who knew them would convict you. I know she can't help it. That's why I'm having such a difficult time deciding how to put it to so MAYBE it sticks. My husband had the good fortune of talking to her on the phone the weekend before last. I told him after the call on Saturday that the next time she calls HE gets to answer again. He just said heck -
How to handle a family member who is out of line

I'm working on a reply to her e-mail. In it I'm telling her that I'm not the person she needs to discuss it with and that I don't want to be rude but I try to not get upset about things I can't change and I won't allow myself to get upset about this. Those who know me well know that dealing with my family, particularly where my mom is concerned and where her estate is concerned, is part of the reason we want to move away. I won't allow myself or my husband or my daughter to be dragged into a dispute between my siblings, myself and my nieces and nephews. I told my sister in law that on -

I won't answer next time. I was caught off guard on Saturday and answered, against my better judgment I might add. Won't make that mistake again. -
The 7% would be on taxable items, that are not food. The 3% tax is on taxable food. It's not the state tax, that's 4%. It's actually the local sales taxes like the education, SPLOST, etc. There's a reason Walmart employees shouldn't answer tax questions. That would be because they don't have a clue.

How to handle a family member who is out of line

I just wish they listened. I don't cut them off when they start talking to me about it but I do let them know that I'm not involved. Most everyone seems surprised since it is a house built by my mom and my dad. My dad was the other kids stepfather. I'm his only biological child. I think everyone just assumes that I would be in charge of everything. Of course, the heirs know but others, like my cousins and the neighbors, don't. I gotta give my SIL one thing--she says it's none of her business right before she voices her opinion. It has been a dividing point between my nieces, -

That's what I thought I told her on the phone on Saturday. I guess she didn't hear what I said. No point. My sister knows that everyone is anxious for her to sell the house. She just won't. Even SHE said back in 2008 when our brother came to visit me that she knew it was to let us know that the rest of the family (I have a nephew and two nieces who are heirs) feels she wasn't selling it because our daughter lived there. -
I have a problem that I need some advice on how to handle it. My brother married his high school sweetheart a few years ago. 51 years after they graduated from high school! Anyway, she is a rather opinionated person. Apparently she has gotten a bee in her bonnet because my sister who is the executrix of our mom's estate has not sold our mom's house yet. It has been more than 7 years. Yes, I think the house should have been sold a long time ago but it's never been my decision to make when it's disposed of. The house has been empty more than it has had people in it during the last 7

Do you have Greystone Power? This is VERY disturbing, indeed!
Mama Carol replied to subby1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My water bill is the same 8 months out of the year. EXACTLY the same. Power has been the same two months in a row and has been close to the same two months in a row a lot of times, particularly in the spring or fall. -

I see that every day. It is a lot worse than it was six years ago. -

One advantage to paying online is you get confirmation that the payment has been made. -

I wasn't sure which one they actually worked for. I know the ladies back in the credit union, not the tellers but the ones who help you with opening an account and things like that, are not Greystone employees. -

I have budget billing for our (now former) rental house. Nice knowing what you're going to pay each month. I pay it online through my bank and no $3.50 fee. -
Glad to see you're finally posting.

Me either. Hubby doesn't have a clue how to go online to them. -

They are two different entities. They share the same facilities but other than the tellers at the window who can take payments for Greystone or do "banking" business, they don't share employees. The home office of GEMC is in Tucker. The home office of Greystone is in Douglasville. Do yourself a favor and set up bill pay through your bank (or credit union if that's what you use). THEY pay the postage. Depending on who you pay, it may even be an electronic payment. -

I can't complain about mine. I think last month was the lowest power bill we have EVER had. $54 and that includes the Operation RoundUp amount. Our bills have actually been BETTER on the new smart meter. Of course, last month we didn't use the washer or dryer for a week and we didn't have hot water for five days which meant we weren't taking showers or running the dishwasher. We also didn't use the A/C. You know, I don't believe I've ever had to call them for anything other than a power failure. They send a bill once a month, I pay it once a month and we're both happy. Been w -

Just to be on the safe side, I pay all my bills through my BANK or credit union (depending on which account I'm paying them out of). I NEVER go to the provider's site to pay. And I stopped Greystone from automatically debiting the payment. -

We might have been there at the same time! Who knows. I used to work at Cobb Cinema. Matinee shift during Exorcist. To this day, I have yet to see the movie. -

All these years later, I still think that is my favorite line from the whole movie. One of my VERY favorite movies, too. -
I don't care, nor do I know, which movie this came from but I absolutely LOVE that!!

Pot Prizes May Have Lured Residents To Vote
Mama Carol replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
so's pot. Except for medicinal purposes in California. Surely they aren't offering the pot JUST to those with a prescription for it. That would be discriminatory. -
That phrase "buyback" always has confused me. It seems that in order to "buyback" something you had to own it first.

Very sad story and not trying to be judgmental, but....
Mama Carol replied to juleebella's topic in RECENT TOPICS
When our oldest started driving we gave her a 1973 Buick LeSabre to drive. We nicknamed it Sherman because it was built like a tank. It would not go 200 mph and in fact would do good to go 65. It was sturdy and we never had to worry about if she were injured in case of an accident unless she got hit by a semi. I just CANNOT imagine buying a 18 year old, or even a 21 year old, a FERRARI! That's something you should aspire to get when you have worked for it. I heard that story on the news last night and it broke my heart. I KNOW the parents just felt they were doing the right thin
