  1. My daughter and son in law are going after he gets off work at 5. You might have a point.
  2. I was a caregiver for my mom who passed away at 89, so I know what it is like to want to take care of your mother. And I did not say she was lacking in foresight to vote absentee. Only that voting that way is an option for anyone and anyone over 60, or anyone in poor health, should vote that way. Heck, the election is held in November. The weather can be rather iffy this time of year. Great reason to vote absentee right there! And I had to laugh out loud at your first statement. If you ONLY knew. If I wanted to vote but didn't have the foresight to vote absentee before I got hi
  3. I appreciate Pubby EVERY week. And LPPT, too.
  4. Personal responsibility is not expecting someone to accommodate you. I really hate that she was unable to vote but it happens! My husband voted absentee for years because he never knew if he would be in town, much less the country, on election day. He missed the run-off a few months ago because he didn't feel well enough to go. He also missed the primary for the same reason. It HAPPENS. You don't get to vote in every election.
  5. In spite of the signs that say no recording devices or cell phones allowed?
  6. I'd be much more concerned about the fact that the voting was on VIDEO than I would be that the vote was changed by the machine. So much for privacy at the polls and secret ballot.
  7. Unless you know the person really well, say it's a relative, I'd skip giving a gift and just send a card. Or give a money holder card with some money in it (whatever you would have spent).
  8. As someone who had minimal wait, THANK YOU ADVANCE VOTERS!!!!!!!!! I'd be willing to bet turnout will be low, in spite of so many people voting. Always seems to work that way.
  9. A STATE WIDE emergency is one thing and the government should do whatever it takes to accommodate that. A personal emergency is another and is not up to the government to solve. But you need NO reason to vote absentee and IMO if you're over about 60 you should do that instead of standing in line. My MIL is something like 83 and voted by absentee as soon as it became available. Just makes sense to me. Matters not one iota if you have her POA or not.
  10. I fixed it. My mind is usually in the gutter but missed that one. No wonder I feel like I've lost my mind. It's not in the gutter anymore!!
  11. We vote at a little Baptist church on Hiram Lithia Springs Road in Powder Springs. Sixteen minutes from the time we got in line until I walked out the door. Seventeen for my husband. I tend to finish VOTING quicker than he does anyway. Oh, that was this morning just after 9 in the rain. Voting absentee next time. Good Lord willing it will be in Santa Rosa County, FL. So how long was your wait to vote, either today or if you voted early?
  12. Sounds a lot like the sarcoidosis that a friend of mine has.
  13. LPPT, the people who are out there driving after taking Lorcet, Vicodin, hydrocodone, Tramadol, Skelaxin and any number of other narcotic pain killers and/or muscle relaxers are much more of a problem to OTHERS than those toking on a joint. Never heard or read anything about pot users have a shorter lifespan but have read that those who regularly take narcotics shorten their lives by 9-17 years. If pot were legal, there would be no reason for my husband to need to take another pain pill or drink another beer. As it is, these are the only alternatives he has unless we move to a sta
  14. Not exactly. Still can't sell it in public and it's a "low priority" for law enforcement. Not the same as being "legal". If she thinks that is seedy, she needs to hang out at Grady on a Friday night. Or around Hamilton Holmes Drive on a Saturday night. West End used to be a bit seedy. And I can show her parts of Pensacola that would qualify as seedy.
  15. We need to get people off the roads who are under the influence of prescription narcotics, too. Those people scare me worse than stoned folks do.
  16. I agree with you 100% on this. I've been around people who were either drunk or stoned. Give me stoned folks any day! I was at a New Year's party back around 1990 and I was never so scared in my entire life. Alcohol can make people do crazy, crazy things. Throw in a bit of jealousy, a gun and you have a recipe for a bad time. Smoke pot, throw in some brownies and you have a recipe for a good time. For the record, I do not smoke pot. Never have.
  17. And seeing wavy pink streetlights. Or was that just me???
  18. I'd vote not just yes but HELL YES!! Legalize it. Take the profit away from the cartels and crooks and watch the war on drugs get BETTER. This is an opinion that not only do I have but a friend of mine who used to be involved in the illegal drug trade also believes. It's a shame to make criminals out of pot smokers. Really and truly. A shame. I expect that once they experience that, they won't have any objections.
  19. My husband went online to apply for a job through the company with the position. Their site took him to Monster.com (I think, it's been a couple of years). There was no way to apply directly with the company. So he drove over to their facility and went to human resources. They had no opening. He told them he saw the opening on THEIR website. They said they didn't have any. He then told them that when he went to apply for the job through THEIR website, he was taken to Monster. They told him they did not use Monster or any other site other than their own. But they did not have any openi
  20. I've had 19 interviews since July 2010. At least 17 of those have come from listings on Craigslist. Have I fallen for scams? Yes. I have learned to recognize them and stay away now. Like J'smom said, most won't mention their name in the ad. However, if they do by all means Google them. Or if they list an e-mail like soandso@paulding.com, you can always check the domain. I've found a number of them that way and screened THEM out because either the domain didn't come up or because it did and their location was too far away. Of those 17 interviews I've been to from CL postings, 17
  21. It was in a blog and an e-mail. It HAS to be true.
  22. You're welcome! Are you the one who was going to move to Pace?
